  • Supported Battery Type AA

Fantastic. I have enough eneloops to keep this camera continuously on for 37 weeks.

    • Just remember some of these cheapo cameras won't support eneloops (1.2v)… hence "Four AA alkaline batteries"

      • Eneloops will actually output 1.5v. The stated 1.2v is the bare minimum that it would output at the end of its lifetime. There's no problems using Eneloops in digital cameras.

        • they will not put out 1.5v, when fully charged to 1.5v they will go back down to 1.3v~

        • @storyteller:

Yes you're right. But i doubt alkaline batteries output the full stated 1.5v either well the crappy low quality batteries.

Kmart ixus 145 seems to be better camera in terms of features, BUT aa battery support is nice - cheaper to buy cheap aa's or eneloops than a second camera battery if you take lots of photos in a day when on holiday etc. Aa batteries are also easy to find on holidays.

    • Thanks for this post. I didnt notice the ixus 145 post previously. Ended up getting one this morning at kmart Bankstown.

      • No problem - I bought one for myself as a spare and one for mum - at that price including battery and charging cradle, for 16mp wide lens and 8x op zoom its a steal.

  • I had no idea that GE was still making consumer electronics. Didn't they pull out of that years ago?

  • New wofd word of the day 'Eneloop'. Truthfully I have not used or 'paid attention to(if I had used these batteries) ? Have suggested a forum discussion. Thanks.

  • will this camera take much better photos then my galaxy note 3?

  • Does anyone else think the 14mp claim is not entirely genuine? Looking at footage from similar camera sold at bigw has lead me to believe its far more likely to be heavily interpolated from a 5mp sensor, or even less.

    • +1

The sensor is probably 14MP (considering smartphone can have even higher MP count, it is certainly possible). However, whether the lens is capable of providing that much detail to the sensor is a totally different matter.

office works has a 16mp camera selling for $29. I about to list that and checked the specs to find out it was 5mp interpolated to 16mp and only had digital zoom.

that being said, this is a 14mp sensor.
