This has been $999 on the Kogan website for at least the past month or two. And right now it comes with free shipping (which was also available during the pre Christmas sales).

    • Was $999 in July.

Yeah, pretty lame of kogan to be claiming it's a "group deal" on ebay.

Negging the deal, not the person who posted it - appreciate anybody who goes to the trouble

  • This is where people will finally realise how great 4k isn't, when all the cheap chinese flock flood the market.

There's just so many more important aspects to a great panel. The better 1080p branded LEDs will put this thing to shame, the better Plasmas destroy it.

4K is useless till we start to see 4k content till then i wouldn't even think about 4k for a TV.

      • but if u are in the market for a TV, would it not be better to get a 4k for future proofing..

        • +2

no.. the AFL grand final isn't even broadcast in 720p

        • "future proofing" in TV standards these days is about 6 months…

        • @eagleanthony: totally agree. Rather buy one in future and pay future price which is probably another 30% off the current price in 6 months.

        • No not really 1080p is plenty for now.
maybe in a years time if there 4k content.

        • At least the flood of new 4K TVs to the market is bringing the price down on larger 1080p TVs recently.

        • It depends on whether the TV properly supports HDMI 2 and from what I have read, the Sony 4ks look to support some of it.

          http://community.sony.com/t5/4K-Ultra-HD-TV/FULL-HDMI-2-0-on…

IE, it's a dangerous time to buy a 4K TV

And just to be clear, the TV in this deal does not support HDMI 2

      • 4K televisions are essentially being sold on the strength of their upscaling/processing of 1080p content. Not 4K content.

That's what you should be evaluating.

      • There is plenty of 4k content out there, you just need to know where to look.

        • Right, so we go looking for 4k online purely because it's 4k? I'm watching something I don't want to see, but it's 4k. I'm hip.

4k is marketing spin at this stage. This panel will be rubbish compared to the better 1080p offerings, even with 4k source. Resolution is overrated here.

      • Your PC desktop is your content. Try side by side web browsing and word processing, with a 720P video playing, and VNC monitoring to your hearts content, without the need to shuffle windows.

        • This is a conversation about TV! screens NOT PC monitors.

PC gaming at 4k is possible right now if i had the spare cash id buy a 4k monitor.

I bought SONY 49 inch 4K in TGG 3 days ago, I believe it is a much better choice than this
