How can we be sure these are genuine?

    • +3

      It's Shopping Express + eBay

you don't have to be sure with buyer protection.

      • +1

Does buyer protection covers return shipping?

When you cost of good is lower than return shipping, it is a tricky situation to decide if you want to return or gave up.

Buyer protect might get you fully refund on the item, but not necessary return shipping.

        • You wear the cost of registered post for returns.

i just bought a 64GB generic micro sd card on ebay for $17
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261675170133?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…

i dont care what brand it is.

    • +9

Do you care how long it'll last?

    • +9

      Read 8-10MB/s
      Write 4-6MB/s

      Enjoy…. I'll stick with 70/20MB/s read/write..

  • +1

    any deals on 64GB microSD?

  • +1

Why did the price just increase by 75c?

  • +1

You can buy a Kingston 32GB microSD class 10 with adapter from MSY for $19…

    • +2

I think it has diff write/read speed and obviously diff brand…

      • Oh okay.. Well just an option for those who aren't too concerned about read/write speed!

        Still a class 10 so minimum 10mb/s

        • Watch out for poor 4k speeds, because it isn't regulated

  • +1

Take note that the PRO is the higher end and the PLUS for $20.95 is not a bargain in this case.

  • Anyone have any recommendations for a MS Surface Pro card? Not sure on the limitations of its read/write

    • I've done a bit of researching on this (for my own pro) and I've decided to go with a Sandisk Extreme. I was only looking at the 64GB sizes, but the Extreme's seemed to have the best read and write speeds (45/45 or 60/40 depending on model) for the price. If you don't mind so much about write speeds, this Samsung pro would be your best option (70MB/s read but only 20MB/s write). This guy here got real read speed's of 61.2MB/s on this exact card on his Surface Pro
Unfortunately I don't have it yet but can write back when I do.
There's also the Sandisk Extreme Pro, which is meant to be 95MB/s Read and 90MB/s Write, but they come at a hefty cost; and the Extreme Plus (a bit more than the Extreme's) with speed's of 80MB/s Read & 50MB/s Write.
As I said, all the speeds I've said were for 64GB cards :)

Some slightly more expensive Toshiba alternatives, but with slightly higher claimed write speeds too:

  • What is the difference with this deal?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/174153

Which one is better, PRO or EVO?

    • Pro is the Samsung's top of the range.

PRO Speed: Read: up to 70MB/s, Write: up to 20MB/s
EVO Speed: Read: up to 48MB/s, Write: up to >20MB/s

      • +1

not really. I saw two samsung Pro microsd cards on the market, one is 70MB/s and the other is 90MB/s.

        • +2

I noticed the same… I think this may be the older model. It doesn't look nearly as flash as the new one either :)

        • Yes, you are right! the new one is 90MB/s

        • @Navgsc: And 50MB/s write speeds too :D

      • +1

I'm sure you ment the evo card writes at < less than 20MB/s
        http://www.oo.com.au/Pack-of-2-Samsung-microSDHC-UH_P239942.…
        OO says <15MB/s

        • Yes, my bad!

  • I bought this $15 32gb yesterday for my new lumia 530 for anyone who is interested

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271696396289?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…

Has 150 reviews on amazon and 4.5 stars so must be at least ok…

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got the 32GB Plus SD for 18.95

  • thanx op, bought the 64g pro 2 minutes ago, for my surface pro 3 bought 5 minutes ago.

  • I picked up a class 166gb 10 micro SD card with adapter for $9 at MSY yesterday. I don't think they were having a sale I knew of.

    • 16g you mean?

      • 16gb you mean?

      • 16gb you both mean?

        • +2

          16gb they meant?

        • I think it is 16GB…

        • -2

@aacheney: there is only One Great Britain. not 16!

  • Does this one work with the G1W dash cam?

    • should be fine but most dash cam only supports up to 32gb.

    • +1

I have that exact dash cam, and bought the Kingston C10 16GB Micro SD for $10 from MSY (now $9). It gets exactly 2 and a half hours recording, which is more than enough for me, and just loops over itself. I have read on a few forums that people had trouble with various brands of cards (eg. Sandisk Ultra), and that only the Kingston branded class 10 cards are recommended and no one seems to have had trouble with them.

      • How long have you used the dash cam for? I've got a Kingston 32GB class 4 which developed memory errors after about 3 weeks of use, so I'm surprised to hear that the class 10 version is working ok.

        • Have only been using it for around a month and a half, so not a long time, but I do drive a bit (average about 2+ hours a day)
And no class 4 card is going to work unfortunately, they're just not going to keep up to speed
But haven't had a single problem so far (touch wood haha)

        • @obo: Hmmm ok - I'd read the opposite, in that in general, class 10 cards tended to cause more issues than slower ones, hence why I got a Class 4 card. And I do at least 6 hours of driving a week, so that card went through its whole capacity a few times before failing.

But from the more reading I'm doing, it seems the main issues are with the Sandisk Ultra cards.

Actually, I'm making do at the moment with a Sandisk Class 4 card. Been using it about 2 weeks so far with no issues. However, it's a bit too small, so may go for a Kingston class 10 or Samsung EVO.

        • @mastablasta: Haha, wow, so lot's of different info out there!
I'll reply here if I have any troubles down the line, but I was trying to find where abouts I read the info for the Kingston class 10's, and couldn't find it!! I did however find that you're right, a lot of people having trouble with class 10 cards :/
But a lot of ebay listings for the cameras will only garuntee Kingston Class 10 cards will work, so I think that's where I might of found that info (eg. here and here)

      • +2

Also, from the (not very many) forums I had read, the consensus seemed that people had success with Transcend and Samsung EVO cards.

  • The model number says "/CN" which i suppose it is made in china? However if you check the back of the card from the photo provided it says made in korea.I am not sure if it is a valid question. Could anybody explain this? Does the quality vary between chinese made and korean made?

  • Thanks. Got the 32gb Pro Micro. Just what I needed for my helmet cam.

  • If you only want the SD card for storing music like me, don't be suckered in by fancy write and read speeds - they are meaningless. All mobile devices except for two, like ALL, have USB 2 which maxes out at 35Mb/s so transferring data can't go faster than that. Write speed is important for video and photos, for sure. But for just playing music a much cheaper low speed card is fine.

  • 64gb is a good deal but 16gb is only 25c cheaper than msy. Bought the 16gb for a navman dashcam the other week so far so good.

  • any suggestions for note 4? pro or evo - samsung or kingston? i m looking @ 32 and 64 thanks

    • IMP, Get a high speed card: SanDisk Extreme plus, SanDisk Extreme or Samsung Pro

  • Oooops, almost grabbed the Samsung 64GB Pro (Pro SD card 80MB/s) without realising it was a full-size SD card.
