When are they going to have a sale on Male to Female !!!

    • +2

Or better yet, female to female!

      • +2

Sure, if that's what turns you on…

I need to extend some earphone cables…

        • I need a female to female to extend a male to male, so I can extend my headphone cable.

        • @tightarse:

that would work, but you lose quality with each connection.

I'd avoid buying these cheap cables from Meritline. Read some of my comments on a previous post:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/171392

I used to work for a place fixing iPods and laptops, and many of the problems people had were from broken headphone sockets where loose plugs broken the socket and destroyed their iPod. Unfixable on most iPods due to the way the sockets are soldered to the motherboard. I personally had a cheap 3.5mm plug break off in a Logitech receiver destroying the socket, and another one broke the headphone socket on my wife's tablet.

It's just not worth the risk! If a cable feels loose and you have to wiggle it to get sound out, THROW IT OUT. If you keep wiggling it, your headphone socket will eventually break off or become so loose inside it won't work with decent plugs. If it's something cheap you don't care about, go ahead. But just imagine if you spent $500+ on a new mobile phone and a $2.08 cable broke the headphone socket. You'd be pretty upset. Is it really worth the risk?

    • do you have any recommendation? I need one prolly around 4-5 metres long?… best bang for the buck of course…

    • what you can do is find a decent Y (2in1) adapter or a short extension cable - then plug these cheap long ones into that.
Anything breaks the socket - only replace the adapter or short cable.

then again I've never had the tips break on these even though I use these cheap cables from meritline/dx. (cheap cables last me 4 months - expensive ones a year). They never break at the tip - always at the flex connection joint

  • Hmm 26 ft, what could I possibly need this for?
