It starts saturday the 13th not the 10th.
    The tv that is.

    • Holding out for a 55" or 60".

      • There was a 55" about 2 weeks ago at aldi, Bauhn. bought it for $600

        • Yeah I missed that :-( Still prefer a 60"

    The amazing Spiderman 2 Wii U/3DS $13.99

My spider sense tells me this game is crap…

  • Instruction Manual for the ATV50-014

Interesting that it has ARC and a headphone socket

  • For what it's worth, I have the 55" Bauhn full HD from Aldi and it's a solid performer for the price ($600).

  • I bought this set on Tuesday as my local Aldi have it out on display already and so far for a bedroom set I'm happy with it, it would not be up to scratch for my lounge room though.

    Pros:
    - Nice image quality (when viewed from directly in front).
    - Supports HDMI-CEC (confirmed working with Raspberry Pi) allows control of other CEC compatible devices via the TV's remote.
    - USB playback/record (untested so far as I have a Raspberry Pi with XBMC/Kodi connected to the TV.
    - Remote has backlit volume and channel buttons.
    - Light and thin, was very easy to mount on the wall by myself.
    - Very thin bezel.
    - Very low input lag, have been playing BF4 via Xbox One on it without any noticeable issues.

    Cons:
    - Speakers are horrible, output levels are fine, but the sound quality and frequency response is terrible requiring you to turn it up louder than necessary.
    - Viewing angles are not great, even 5 degrees off angle starts giving contrast changes.
    - Switching inputs is slow, the menu is fine but the signal sync takes 3-5 seconds.
    - The remote buttons are too flat, it's difficult to place your fingers properly in the dark.
    - Remote sensitivity is poor, you have to point the remote directly at the TV towards the bottom centre where the IR receiver is else it doesn't pick up button presses.
    - Excessive brightness from factory, the default setting looks very washed out, dropping the brightness and a slight increase in saturation makes it look much better.

Overall I'm happy, for the money it's very hard to go past, I was tossing up between this and the $435 (plus $61 shipping) Kogan model but the manual for the Kogan didn't mention HDMI-CEC support and I haven't been able to find this info elsewhere so I went with the Bauhn set instead.

One thing the Bauhn manual didn't have listed in the specs was power consumption, I emailed Bauhn support and asked before buying the set but the answer I got was "100-240V 50/60hz" which is clearly not what I wanted, so for other people interested the label on the back of the set states 130W (I'll follow up with measured power consumption in the next couple of days) which is a touch worse than the Kogan at 110W.
