460

Expansys is currently having a price drop on Google Nexus 5 made by LG & free shipping as well.

  • 16GB Red/Black/White — $384.99
  • 32GB Red/Black/White — $409.99

These are grey imported D821 (international version of Nexus 5). Probably shipped from Hong Kong although from previous Nexus 4 experience the shipping should be pretty quick.

Don't forget 2.66% cashback when purchasing via CashRewards. :)

Those aren't very big discounts for grey imports. I paid $40 more for the 32GB version 13 months ago. I suppose that didn't include shipping, but Google's warranty support is meant to be pretty good.

The discount on the 16GB one is even smaller. Not saying it's a bad deal, but just something to think about.

Well. Consider AUDUSD is at $0.84 now…

      • +1

What is to consider? That was AUD prices at launch for the N5. This isn't a bargain, but might be the best price available. Really wish they would just do a refresh of the N5!

        • I thought they were 399 and 449? Not much of a saving but still a saving… if you don't care for warranty?

    • I am with you, I would pay an extra $40 for the warranty/support but not everyone is like us and would consider this a deal so let it be posted?

        Also note from their T's & C's

Whilst our pricing is listed in local dollars, credit cards are billed via our corporate office in the UK, so an international credit card fee may be charged by your service provider for your transaction.

AFAIC this is not made clear enough - the price should be shown in GBP for each product eg. £XXX.XX (AU$XXX.XX)

        • Hi McFly, this is depending on your Credit Card company. You may use Paypal or Bank Transfer as your payment method so that you don't have to worry about that international fee mentioned, thanks

        • +6

@ExpansysDoesIT: Yes, you can get around it - that doesn't change the fact that this is hidden in the t's & c's.

        • @McFly:
Very well spotted. I am pretty unaware of these sorts of extra expenses when purchasing so appreciate you pointing it out.

  • What is the warranty procedure as they are grey imports?

At this price, Oneplus one appeals to me more.

    • Hope they can improve the screen next year. I sold off mine due to bad contrast, bad black lvl and the yellow band at the bottom.

      • +1

Not sure what do you mean by bad contract etc… maybe just your phone, not all Oneplus One?
I'm currently using Oneplus One. the screen is much better than Moto G 2 or Samsung Note 2 I previously owned.

And yes, Oneplus One seems to be a better deal than this post.

        • Nah, I've seen a few opos other than mine and all looks the same. If you put it side by side with other IPS screens you will see what I mean. I did put it alone side with a Nexus 5 and G2. The difference is quite obvious, you simply have to turn up the opo's backlit a lot b4 getting close to the others' contrast.

I loved that phone till the screen became too much of a problem.

        • @maxhu:

All this time I've been thinking Opo was a brand of mobiles phones, so when i searched for them i found http://www.oppomobile.com.au/ thinking it was their selection. No wonder things didn't add up a few weeks ago.

and damn the screen issues. i would have jumped on a opo if i didn't read so much about it.

        • @twigman:
Actually OPO is made by Oppo in case you didn't know.

        • @clse945111:

I really don't know if you're pulling my leg or are serious lol.

        • @twigman:
          I'm serious ;)

  • What are the shipping times like with these guys?

16Gb one is $399 from the Google play store, not much of a bargain.

I would prefer to deal with Google directly also.

  • +5

Remember when Google sold the nexus 4 for 250?

  • Save $15 for 16gb + postage, hmmkay.

  • What's so good about saving $35 on a grey market product?
Warranty support from google is fantastic.

  • For people interested in buying this (based on my Nexus 4 refurbished experience), some suggestions:

    • Use PayPal (the buyer protection offered by PayPal is better than Expansys)
    • Read the terms and conditions carefully, especially the warranty and return policy
    • Test the phone as soon as you receive it, test everything
    • Keep everything (don't chuck the box away)

Expansys uses DHL and you get the item very fast. However, when it comes their official return / warranty policy, there is definetely room for improvement. They will pay for the return shipping of the faulty item, but watch out for the return policy.

For me, they were bounded by PayPal policies, so my experience with them overall is quite good (but that's because PayPal was used). However, it is better / safer to buy from Google direct.

      Thanks Netsurfer,

      Appreciate the feedback.

Just to re confirm this is all new stock unlike the official refurbish Nexus 4 stock.

It is limited so will be gone very very soon.

If there are any issues we offer our 12 month warranty service which has been highlighted previously.

      Happy Shopping everyone

nexus 5 should sell cheaper already, considering the 32gb 5c is going for 399.

    • True, but that's locked for one thing, also it depends on market forces in the end.

      • who said its locked, its not locked, jbhifi staff tells you its locked, but its not locked.my dad is using optus sim on it

        • Oh, OK.

    • There's something to be said for not being sucked into the Apple ecosystem. Anyone who's been on a decent Android phone before is unlikely to switch. Even just because they don't want to re-purchase all their favourite apps.

  • Ordered a 32 gb thanks!

A second hand out of warranty one just went on ebay for $391 inc shipping. No brainer to pay less than $20 a brand new one.

    • Thank you for your order.
