20% on 20%, winner!. Lowest price I have seen for brand new with full wty etc! Nice find. Will never be cheaper.

  • Dell does not appear to be having a store-wide ebay sale. Where does it say that? I found only "holiday deals" and few of those were 20% off?

    • ebay is providing the discount

      • No worries. The post has been edited to reflect that. Thank you.

  • Nice price!

Quick questions if anyone can help me out with them:

    1) on the specs page it says it has an audio out jack. Is this the equivalent of a 'headphone jack' in that I can get sound to external speakers from a hdmi source e.g. Ps4?

    2) I plan to use a PS4 and a Wii U with this monitor, will image quality suffer because the consoles will only run at full HD and it's not the native resolution of the monitor itself?

Apologies if they are stupid questions but any advice would be appreciated!

    • +2

      1) Making an assumption but, yes, 99% sure it's a "headphone" jack.

      2) Sadly, yes, the image quality will suffer a bit as the monitor will emulate 1920 by 1080P.

On my 2560 by 1600 Dell monitor this has the effect of looking ever so slightly blurry or milky for lack of a better word. Not as crisp as native resolution.

I run a PS4 on my Qnix 27" which is natively 2440 x …. and it looks great. I usually game at 2440 on PC, not 1080 so that's what my comparison is to. Go for it.
I use a wireless headset for audio via optical out so can't comment on the audio thing. I alternatively run audio out from it to my PC's Line-in for stereo sound if I want.

  • Looking for a new monitor myself, and this looks really nice and a good price to boot, but for me the 8ms grey to grey is an issue.

    Nice deal anyway

  • 2560x1440… Hmm.

I'm holding out for a decent 4k monitor.

  • Would buy one if I dont have 3 24inch dell monitors sitting on my small table in front of me.

  • 4K monitor at a similar price, is this a better deal?

This has a TN panel vs IPS for the Dell

      • cheers, how important do you personally find IPS?

        • +1

I personally think it is very important. Many reviews on the Internet agree

        • For colour reproduction it's essential. If you don't care about that and want it for gaming, go for TN

        • +1

@rorymeister: But if you want a monitor for gaming, don't go 4K because you will have to have a very powerful computer to fun it at over 60fps

        • +3

@algy: Rather than "don't buy it for gaming", you should say "make sure your PC can handle it".

4K looks amazing for gaming, but you gotta prepare by getting a nice GFX card.

        • @algy: I was referring to the comment that makeyouryear made.

The new P2715Q has been launched in the US and appeared briefly on the Australian Dell site for $879. It might be worth waiting for that 4K monitor when it gets the inevitable 30% off

  • the P2815Q is available from dell ebay, seems a great deal. Trying to choose a 4K, Samsung UHD590 from dick smith or P2815Q from dell.

    • +4

The P2815Q has a TN panel and can display 4K only at 30Hz. Not the ideal. The newer P2714Q is an IPS panel and can display 4K at 60Hz

      • I chose to wait it out - makes more sense.

Despite the falling $AUD, I would rather invest in 4k tech with decent refresh rates.

Otherwise settle for non IPS Asus swift

  • 60Hz…meh

Once you've switched to 120Hz you can't go back. I never noticed a difference at first but switching back to 60Hz after extended use of a 120Hz monitor and the difference is jarring (and surprising) to the point where I can't even use the computer, even basic desktop use. At 60Hz cursor movement is choppy and feels out of sync with mouse movement and computer performance feels unresponsive.

    I highly recommend a 120Hz monitor ;)

      What's a good one?

      • Honestly, no idea LOL. I bought mine years ago and I don't really keep up with new monitors. Sorry :P

    • I'm assuming you are using windows.

Right click desktop - choose screen resolution - advanced settings - Monitor tab. What is your refresh rate set at?

      • Yes, I know. This is what I was referring to. At 60Hz it's unbearable but everything is so much more fluid at 120Hz. The point I was trying to make is that it is indeed quite a noticeable difference.

  • Pretty good price for this one, I picked up this same monitor at $573.30 when dell had a discount directly form their website.

  • Anyone else waiting for the U2715H (successor to U2713HM) to go on sale? The core specs seem to be very similar though
    http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&l…

    • H and HM series are different, colour depth wise.

      • +1

This was the case between the U2713H and U2713HM when the U2713H had a wide gamut (PremierColor) and the HM a standard gamut. However, Dell has changed this, with new monitor in the 'H' series, the U2715H being only standard gamut now.

        • Seriously, da hell is up with that?! Seems every generation they just randomly go with a naming convention.

    • Yep. I really wish it were higher than 60Hz, but it'll look so damn nice next to my U2414H's.

  • I'm considering buying this for a new computer build whether that be pc or mac.

Can someone please enlighten me on the most sound choice for a combination of gaming, work and multi-media:

    For screens:

    P2715Q is $699 US

    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&c…

    Now,I'm
    Not sure whether to wait out for P2715Q and build a new pc or;

    buy 5k iMac; or

    buy macbook pro retina; or

    • +3

      buy 5k iMac

Anything but this. It's a great display hobbled by utterly terrible internals, none of which can be upgraded. Gaming? Not a hope.

P2715Q is the first 4k monitor I'd think about buying, looks good if you can wait.

      • Thanks for the feedback man.

Do you think it's specifically worth the wait ?

I can potentially order it from the united states right ?

Also, I would need to get a custom pc building going again- i sold the one I built 6 years ago (2008 when i finished high school) for $500 so need to build a new one !

        • It should be out in Australia soon, shipping from the US would be killer. But as an Ozbargainer you're honor bound to wait for a 30% off sale :P

        • @Merlict:

Dammit - so contentious now, wth to I do. Buy this or wait ?

        • @tehoriginal:

Just following up, I've been reading reviews and they unanimously conlcude that this has back-lighting issues.

Most recommedn the ASUS PB278Q in place - any1 have some thoughts ?

        • @Merlict: and use cash rewards or playmate or whatever, you know the start here.com successor.

I've been waiting for a while to buy these to see if I could get them on a 30% off sale but this is even better. Thank you very much for this! Ordered two and ran them through separately in order to get the full ~$270 off rather than capped at $200. Free shipping so two orders doesn't matter. From what I can read the 20% discount seems to be limited to 3 transactions so I believe this is all okay (and I don't plan on any other eBay purchases so not like it's a waste of one of those transactions). Thanks again!

  • For those looking to buy this if you do not mind paying an extra $57 more, Asus PB278Q is available for $590.

  • Is this VESA mountable?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Thanks, mate.

  • Reasonable price for this item.

  • with cutting onions is so easy!

  • How are these as gaming monitors?

    • One of the best. This price is nearly down towards the cheaper Korean versions @ this resolution. I know I would rather Dell!

      • Check for input lag in this review. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2713hm.htm

      • "One of the best"
Completely depends. But far from the best.
With a 60hz refresh rate and 8ms response time this would certainly NOT be considered a gaming monitor.

Sure everything will LOOK beautiful, but performance will be shabby compared to a 144hz/1ms gaming monitor. So it depends. Do you want quality or performance?

        • Input lag and response time are different.

        • @chyawala:

          Yes they are.
But what is your opinion of this monitor as a gaming monitor?

        • @stuckster:
I've used the 2713H and it looked fantastic, like people should not miss out on how great it looks. Was responsive and no blurring. I think input lag of up to 10ms, maybe 20 ms is still decent, depending on what your playing. Some Dell IPS screens have much lower input lag like the 2414H(M?).

  • this post got me thinking of grabbing the Asus Swift now :S

  • Does anyone like to check out displays in person before buying them online? Doesn't help that stores don't make an effort to display anything but the Start Screen in 1366x768 on every single monitor

  • Make sure you use cashrewards or equivalent to get a further 2%. Usually it's not much but here it's $10 per monitor.

  • Thanks OP! Bought one to replace my old cheap acer 24 inch mon. coupon+cashrewards LOL

  • Thanks. This will be my sixth U2713HM.

  • For the record, you can buy 3 of them with the discount. It won't let you add a 4th.

  • +1

Much difference between this and the new U2725H model? Is it worth paying an extra $100 for the new model?
