Hi there,

The price is actually $879 with Free Shipping.

Pay with PayPal and receive $80 back into your PayPal account by October 31st.

Its much more convenient that just regular cashback, as it requires no further action from you after purchasing.

Hence - $799 after $80 PayPal cashback, free delivery.

Edit - if mod could change the title to reflect the cashback appreciated.

• Once again no SOS e-mail … did you receive my e-mail QQQ which you requested last SOS thread on here?

• I did mate, you are not currently marked as subscribed.

I just tried to re-subscribe you manually, hope it works.

Do you remember ever unsubscribing?

• -1

I have sent a email to u as well with the same problem

• Nope, I've always tried to subscribe. That option has always presented itself in the past in my ACCOUNT area.

Now looking at it I have the "Unsubscribe my newsletter" option, so that manual adjustment of the account has finally corrected the issue.

Hopefully in the website revamp that check for that setting and it's on/off status will be amongst the fixes.

Thx, QQQ

• I have a similar problem, I do not get the e-mail.

I tried re-subscribing to the newsletter but when I untick and hit update, it still shows as ticked. Nor do I get a confirmation e-mail, I have checked my inbox and spam folders.

This is a nice deal, the cheapest one on staticice is $995. Plus it is one of the model from acer which comes with the free upgrade to windows 7 when it comes out http://www.acer.com/windows7upgrade/. Eligible Models can be found here http://www.acer.com/windows7upgrade/eligible.html

• Acer charges $25 postage for the Windows 7 upgrade dvd. It's better than ASUS $35 postage but still more than it should be.

• Is it easy to upgrade without a dvd/optical drive? Is it possible?

• what does "SOS subscriber only special" mean?

• +1

I believe it means the deal was announced earlier only to newsletter subscribers and then later (now) to the general public. Although I could be mistaken.

• Right, thanks. I'd subscribed and like Rumbaar and QuiOui above I didn't receive any subscription mail.

• +1

No worries. I only just registered (and subscribed) last night when I purchased the Acer so I'm not sure how it all works yet.

• Damn you COTD! I just love to hate you!

• A Core 2 Solo CPU is a Core 2 Duo chip with one of the cores disabled. Correct?

The screen resolution is 1366x768 or 720P. Does it have enough CPU power to decode HD movies though?

• The good news is yes it does. I bought one for my girlfriend as soon as stock hit the warehouse yesterday, and its a very good performer.

Fairly detailed review on the link below, which also demonstrates this:

http://acer1810treview.blogspot.com/

HD video is smooth and not choppy at all, actually I have to say unfortunately my girlfriends new little Acer is outperforming my Macbook Air, and also offers over triple the battery life… at less than 25% of the price… sigh

I'll give you $799 for the mac and you can upgrade to this acer for free. PM me.

• You'd pay $799 for 2 year old first gen Macbook Air? I expected better from a nickname like bargainhunter!!

$799 + Acer Timeline = Deal, you know my e-mail addy!

• nice, gw marshallaw11 never got the sos email

• ??

Are you subscribed?

Please e-mail me your e-mail address

[email protected]

• Oh, never mind, thanks anyway Rep, i seem to be recieving the email slowers than others. Does having hotmail or gmail make any differences?

• Not a difference no, but its something we are working on.

• Not an Acer fan but these notebooks look like the perfect solution for those wanting more power than an Atom but not the size of a notebook (or the price of most ultraportables) and might have persuaded me to give Acer a go.

The SU3500 1.4Ghz CPU only uses 5.5W, so the overall power consumption shouldn't be much higher than an atom based netbook. And unlike the Atom's it supports the full 4GB RAM not just 2GB.

I'm strongly considering this with an upgrade in mind —> 4GB RAM & 64GB G.Skill Falcon SSD. Suddenly this would be a real gutsy performer with fantastic battery life.

Oh and it apparently comes with a FREE upgrade path to Windows 7 which is a nice touch.

The negatives I see are the gloss screen but this is the case with just about everything on the market these days. And apparently it struggles with HD Flash content which isn't indicative of the notebook but more likely an issue with Adobe needing to release a new version that can tap into the GMA 3500MHD chipsets hardware decoding power. Adobe are said to update flash in 2010 so this will remain an issue for sometime. Regular 1080 HD video is fine however!

• Should I upgrade my current Dell D420 to this one?? HMMMMMMMMMMMMM

• No, I'd hang off …. the strong AUD means prices will only continue to fall in coming months. The Win7 upgrade process is going to be tedious, requiring you to install and activate Vista every time you want to freshly install Win7…..Hang off for the Win7 OEM preinstalled, and thus a much easier re-installation process.

• Wow this unit looks nice, price looks good too. I don't need one, but I sure want one…

• any cash back from acer?

• I'm pretty sure there is no ACER cashback, only the $80 from COD which arrives by October 31 into your paypal account, so 30 days essentially.

bad deal

• +4

Okay I'll bite…
Care to justify this or is it your personal opinion?

What's bad about it, $200 less than staticice price, $80 back within 30 days, fast performance for a sub $1000 notebook. I just don't see any reason for a negative vote. Are you trolling?

This computer is really cheap overseas, for example $504 from Amazon. Wonder if this is an indication of future prices for the timeline.

• I'm not defending the aussie price at all but a few things to note. The US version has the inferior 6hr (less in real life) battery not the european 8hr (sometimes more in real life) battery we get.

Also how do you order from Amazon? I've always gotten the error "we can't ship to that location"

Since we never get a direct conversion price from notebooks in America this price will probably remain decent for a little while.

• this^

• WOw, Great reason for a neative vote

• Does it have bluetooth?
Bought one a week ago from amazon for $437 + $80 shipping.

• +1

just read the description? not that hard…..

• really? is that aud ?

• Doubt it. Plus the US model is inferior to the Euro model which we get (weaker battery) - Fair enough not a couple of hundred dollars difference worth but a difference still. I don't think that is AUD figures but if I'm wrong I stand in awe.

• US currency, at the time the exchange rates was 0.86, about AUD $600. It has weaker battery (4400 mAh) and does not have bluetooth.

• You can get the smaller battery version 1410T from USA for around AUD$600 after shipping. But that said, it will take a while for the product to be shipped and the hassle of sending it back to USA for warranty claims (AFAIK Acer does not have int warranty)

Therefore, I think the COTD deal is pretty good, given the current prices of this machine in Australia. COTD is also running a laptop promotion on Thursday. I am tossing up between buying this now or wait on Thursday for a surprise.

• Acer has a 1 year international warranty on all their laptops/notebooks/netbooks. Just take/send to the local Acer Service/Repair Centre and hope it isn't the keyboard, (replacement keyboard will be the local version - too bad if you're in Russia :)

I'd buy it if it had a modem, Firewire and ODD.

• Can you tell me the link which states acer has 1 year int warranty? The closest thing I have seen is their traveller warranty, which apparently does not apply if you are residing in a country for more than 3 months. So not much point if you are importing from USA.

• Sorry, my bad - that's what I was thinking of.

I'm still almost tempted but I'd prefer to wait for the 1810TZ with 1.3GHz Dual Core.

• in the product description it said this unit has two yrs warranty but on acer website acer says the warranty is one yr. I sent a message to COTD and waiting for their reply. I ordered this last night.

• Its most likely a mistake made by the gentlemen who created the ad.

Either way we will honour the extra year through Acer extended warranty program and foot the bill.

The warranty period advertised is recorded.

• Nice one, honoring a misprint. I know you have never worked for Dell then :)

I ordered one. If money permits I plan to get an 80GB Intel G2 SSD and upgrade to 4GB RAM. Should be a fun little toy and even nicer with that :)

• if COTD can honour that, I will appreciate and recommend this website to all my friends without hesitation. Now it is a really great deal to me. LOL. BTW, can I get the extended warranty when I receive the machine?? Am I too greedy. I got a ssd. Can I install it by my self without voiding the warranty?

• Extended warranties are a bit of a scam in Australia, consumer laws say a device must last a reasonable amount of time, regardless of warranty.

• @Wormetti: Not really. I think it is still valuable. WHen will tomorrow's asus deal start? Im planning to buy another laptop for my mum.

• The 'SOS' deal is actually posted on the front page now? Under the current days deal :)

• Anyone received the cash back yet??????????????????

• Coming soon

• I'm still waiting for mine too.

Also I sent Catch of the day a few emails over the past few weeks in regards to Windows 7 but have not received a response.

If it was advertised for FREE then it should be FREE. There was no disclaimer at all or mention of a delivery fee of $30. I can buy a completely new Windows 7 License for $49.

I would strongly recommend next time Catch of the Day adds an * and say Delivery fees not included or something. Paying a $30 delivery fee is outrageous and I am happy to download Windows 7 and just receive a key via email.

• 1st of NOV still haven't got mine cash back. :(
