    When does the sale expire? Wanting to buy a lens not listed here that you have a great price on - 17mm f1.8 - but not quote ready to buy this weekend. :(

    • If you want our website has a really cool feature you can put stuff on layby, so just go through the checkout as per normal and when you get to how do you want pay for this choose layby and you can lay by up to 3 months there is a little wizard there that tells you how much the monthly payments would be just by clicking on each quantity of months. I am pretty sure no extra fees are involved but I'm not 100%

      Quite a few people are asking how long this deal will last, I would be very surprised is it last till Monday, but who knows

          I have been told that it will, especially if you use the express order which is about $10 extra I think but what I can tell you for sure that if you put in the comments of the sale must receive goods by (then the date) OR please cancel the order, you will be safe

  • Anyone else do layby through paypal? Im having trouble trying to pay the second instalment. When i re-directs me to the paypal checkout page, I can't log in to my paypal account, even though the login details are 100% correct (I can log in on the actual paypal site just fine).

    After years of buying DSLRs, lenses and accessories from Digi Direct I thought it would be good to try a new retailer. I really wanted to like these guys, but their customer expectations management is flakey at best. As the old sayings go, "service is remembered long after the price is forgotten" and "you only get one chance to make a good first impression".

    Ironically, the Amazon order (for some SD cards and an EM—1 case) that I placed on Sunday night, about 90mins after placing the GGCW order, will be delivered today from 15,000km away. And Aussie retail still can't understand why we buy from the USA?

    • STOP PRESS! The Star Track system has jumped from "Perth - Arrived at StarTrack Location for processing" [no departure info] to "Onboard with driver for delivery". I'm slightly hopeful that the parcel may still be delivered today.

        Bad news: They are shipping these kits with the shipping label stuck directly to the kit box (at least, that's how mine arrived). There was no satchel/box or even a layer of bubblewrap. If you are a camera collector*, take note - you will receive a scuffed-up and slightly dented Olympus box (depending on well/otherwise StarTrack handle your item).

        (*)You know who you are, with your attic full of black Canon boxes and gold Nikon/Nikkor boxes. ;-)

          Opened the camera body box ….and I've been shipped the black model not the silver model as ordered. FFS!

          The camera is now in the hands of it's new owner. No time to get it returned for them to ship the correct model (it arrived with 3 business hours to spare). Such is life, as the cliché goes. :-)

          Correct. None whatsoever. Their handling of my item appears to have been:

          1. Receive stock from distributor
          2. Open package to stuff some of their own brochures inside the Olympus packaging.
          3. Run some clear packing tape over both ends to stop them popping open in transit.
          4. Slap a StarTrack delivery label on the outside.
          5. Hand to courier.

          For collectors, or anyone giving it as a gift, the shipping label is very messy to remove. In any case, even if you can remove it cleanly, you still have a scratched-up Olympus box which looks like it's come from the bargain bin at Target.

    I got some feedback from email regarding the payment confirmation even though the order is still not updated, now not getting any response from them. Doesn't inspire much confidence in them.

    Sold my old camera thinking this would be processed in a reasonable amount of time, I just hope they can actually send them on Monday though unlikely as they cannot even process a payment in their systems.

    They were quick to respond with my issue and promptly sent me the em1 body the next day and included an express post satchel for me to return their em5 body.

    You should know when your order is on its way when you get the start rack tracking link.

    I paid for the express delivery and it came next day to Sydney. Hopefully everyone else will get their orders soon.

    • Last time I purchased from these guys they were great! Really on the ball and kept me updated. I suspect they've been smashed with orders and are just working on getting them out the door as quickly as possible. But still, it would be great if they kept up the same level if communication as last time.
      If they can get the rest of the orders out today, including my 'backordered' one, that would be awesome!

    Hi….. Sorry for my absence…. Just to let everybody know 59 orders was shipped today 8-12-2014 we are expecting a 40+ delivery today So hopefully should go out tomorrow hopefully 9-12-2014 and we have more stocks leaving Sydney today, coming to us yes we have been swamped with orders that is true but it is great price and a fantastic product so we're sorry for any delays.

  • Not a happy camper - got a notification from them last Friday (a week after placing my order!!) saying "We have gone through the system and we have no record of your order. We have confirmed the payment receipt."

    No idea how they could have taken my money but not recorded a sale on my order, very suss!

    Subsequent emails were not responded to. Also haven't gotten any email saying my shipment might be amongst the 59 being sent out today.

    Not a good first experience - give me my camera!! :(

      All Internet orders are on different software to the shop orders so if you call the shop they won't know how to find it unless they put the call through to the online department, the fastest way to find out about to order, if there are any problems and any messages recorded about to order go to the login link top right hand corner of the site OR https://gerrygibbscamerawarehouse.com.au/login.html

      Here you can view your order and any comments or statuses that is related to it, if you see a problem you should email them [email protected]

      They may be a little slow because they also have a Great deal on the Sony A7 so these two deals have pretty much got all hands on deck and there seems to be only time to update the status to "sent with the tracking number"

        • @jpwwong: It's above the "My Account" header with Previous Orders, else there is a "show all orders" link to the top right.

          If that isn't showing I'd suspect that the order isn't in the system for some reason or under another login maybe? I'd give them a call when they open today to chase it up!

        • @Ranekor: I am sure I'm using the correct account but unfortunately no such orders link exists on my account, and no one at the store is willing to help or willing to put me through to the online department.

          No response from email and no one to speak to on the phone.

          I think GG has lost me as a customer after this horrible experience.
