Samsung PS50B450 50" HD Plasma - $1649 at Domayne Alexandria & Receive $250 HN Vouchers

170

Just picked up a PS50B450 Samsung 50" plasma TV at Domayne Alexandria for $1649 with $250 HN gift voucher thrown in, making the end price value $1399.

That's the ticketed price - I went the interest free route (the current 850 days interest free deal ends this weekend) so it wasn't negotiated any lower, but if you are paying cash it could go down a bit. Not sure when the deal expires, but definitely a good price IMHO for those who are looking for an excellent quality non-full-HD panel (and no, I'm not going to get into the whole full-HD v non-full-HD debate…) - it's basically either this one or the Panasonic 50X10A at this price range.

Service was friendly there too, have bought a few things from there and the service was consistently better than the pretty poor service at the Alexandria and Moore Park HNs, but I digress…

Good luck!

EDIT - by HN vouchers, I meant $250 of vouchers (gift cards actually, they just gave me the ones that someone who give me if they bought it as a gift) that can be used at Harvey Norman, Domayne or Joyce Mayne (as set out on the back of my gift cards anyway).

  • HN voucher?

    • Harvey Norman

HN and Domayne are under same owner

  • Bought this TV 3 weeks ago @ Myers for 1400….

    • Ticketed price at Myer when I looked yesterday was $1615. Good deal on getting it for 1400, that's easily the lowest I've seen it go for in cash price - I'm sure there'll be some ppl asking you for your receipt for price matching!

  • It's a decent price.. but it's around what i'd expect to pay for a non-hd unit

    • It is HD, just not 1080p.

      • sorry yeah that's what I meant… not full HD… I really try to avoid such units esp in a big tv, although if you're sitting pretty far away I guess that doesn't matter

        • For me personally,

          1) I watch mostly FTA TV and DVDs, not Blu-Rays, so the difference b/w full HD and non full HD is pretty much zero for those.
          2) I sit about 3m away from the TV so again it's hard to see the difference b/w the two, and
          3) The price difference (once you take into account the vouchers) is pretty decent - around $600 to the nearest full HD entry panel (the Panasonic S10 from memory).

So non full HD is great for me, but for anyone who watches Blu rays or is a fiend about resolution, full HD is probably a better option.

  • Really? This isnt 1080p? I thought they all were now? its not that good a deal then, i bought my 1080i PHillips more than a year ago 2nd hand for a grand.

  • yeh good guys in WA were advertising this samsung for $1396 last week.

Great deal so you've done well if you had a use for the vouchers.

Bang for buck this tv cant be beat.

  • Most Samsungs are now going for cheap as new models are coming in for Xmas. For eg. got a 40" samsung hull HD series 7 (top of the line 40" from sammy) for $2100, HN has it for $2k now ($3299 rrp).
