What is in your wallet?

Hi ozbargainers
I love having the most efficient wallet. I know there have been various discussions about different bank accounts, credit cards, private insurance cards etc. I'm lazy to go through them one by one.

I like to think I have a pretty efficient system going on in my wallet. Here are the contents of my wallet

  1. Drivers licence for id
  2. Opal card for travel to work
  3. Medicare card for bulk bill gps
  4. Coles platinum cc $49 annual fee $1000 spend for $10 Coles gc -my annual spend $40000.00. Double up as fly buys card.
  5. CPA Amex for Amex deals no fee -only to spend on Amex deals
  6. Nib health insurance card -mostly use on extras dental/optical and to avoid mc levy
  7. Ing orange debit keycard $0 annual fee, $0 withdrawal. Account for cash withdrawal . Also where my salary goes in and withdrawn to pay my mortgage.
  8. Nrma car assist card.

Please share - what is in your wallet?

Have you got a more efficient credit card, private insurance, bank acct etc?
And why is yours better than mine.

I like my wallet in bare minimal config, if I'm going to a doc I'll take along Medicare, if I need to use public transport I'll take along Opal, etc. Not sure why you need to have it in there permanently.

  • So I am not the only one that keeps heaps of cash !!!
    Great
I keep $1000 plus credit cards, bank cards, medical insurance cards etc
    Wallet cant close

    • In Australia is makes no sense to carry more than you need on you because cards / credit cards are so widely accepted.

cash you keep on you doesn't earn interest so you are losing money carrying it

      • Time is money so Paywave/pass is better than chip and PIN CCs. Plus any applicable cashbacks.

Sometimes you need cash for purchases under the store's threshold. Buying more than you need to get over the threshold will lose you more than any piddling interest earned.

        • Agree on payWave/PayPass
But generally speaking, around $100 is a good amount to carry to cover those odd times when there is a minimum spend to use cc.

          you don't need to carry $1000, at 5% averaged it's still $50 a year

        • @clickship: $100 is about $5 interest per year. I can wear that.

        • @greenpossum: yea, $100 is a good amount. You should rarely need more than that on you in cash
