People actually pay to do this thing? It should be a form of punishment.

Hurts me enough to go for a couple of km run these days, but yeah full price is pretty expensive. I guess it costs quite a bit to set up though and some of profits go to charity.

Not sure whether I would like to do this event or not, part of me does, the other 95% of me is sitting on a chair in front of a PC looking for bargains.

I've done 2 and will be booking my 3rd shortly. It's actually very rewarding, definitely Tough though. They aint lying there.

Anyone else notice that in the description on the site it says "any event in 2014" though. Everything else says 2015…

        • Ive done a couple of high ropes courses which were great fun, but Im guessing that would be like a warmup for tough mudder and very little actual danger involved in a high ropes course. My mind is prewired to avoid danger but I can see how the endurance/reward aspect of Tough Mudder would be a buzz.

I'd love to do Tough Mudder but I feel their safety protocol are lacking.

    • That was in the U.S. I've found the safety crew to be pretty good on the Sunshine Coast, never actually needed them though.

One girl in August did smash her mouth up pretty bad on 'Everest', think the organisers might actually be paying for her dental work at many thousands of $$$. Technically they don't even have to

  • I'm interested but is it only valid for SA of could I run in Melbourne?

    • I read it that you could run any even anywhere in 2015.

  • confused … "Tough Mudder is offering an exclusive offer to purchase your entry ticket in advance for any event in 2014 at the lowest possible price"

Very disappointed because I've paid $109 for this event 5 months ago and now it's available in a cheaper price. How ridiculous and unfair it is when they managed the price according to the purchase-date but now providing a discount in the midway! Who then will buy the "more expensive" ticket next time?!

Not really a reason to neg the deal though is it?

    • That's fairly much a possibility with anything you buy though. You just need to decide at the time if you are willing to pay $X for something and realise that it may rise or fall in price over time after you make your purchase.

I can see how its a bit strange if they offered early bird specials though and then go and make it cheaper down the track.

  • Has anyone purchased one of these and been able to use it on Melbourne 2015?

I am a little concerned about the 2014 being mentioned in the details. Just want to see if there is any way to confirm that it works with the Melbourne event before I take the plunge and get my mates to also.
I've also asked their facebook page so hopefully they respond if no one here can confirm.

Looks like they have fixed up the page

Now says any event in 2015

      Now it's a bargain

      • cheers for that!

  • Interesting they've just moved the Melbourne event back 6 months the day after this coupon expired.

    • Wow that's a bit dodgy. People on FB are complaining of the date (7 months) and location (200km) change, and not being able to get refunds. Pretty poor form Tough Mudder - lots of ppl are out of pocket for accommodation, flights etc, and they can't even get their ticket refunded.

To be clear: I didn't neg them based on their safety issues as that varies between events. but enticing people to sign up for a cheaper priced ticket, THEN move the event 7 months later and change the location… sooooo glad I didn't sign up (I would have as I've always wanted to try something like this, but the safety issues concern me). I hope no OzBargainers were burnt by this "deal". Heaps of complaints on their FB website, appalling handling of the issue Tough Mudder!

Cannot believe TM are claiming "unfortunately, we will not be able to offer refunds, as a no refund agreement was signed during registration." - basically they can change the date and place at will and tell everyone to suck it up??
