I would wait for the Kindle Voyager. The sale is too late, Paperwhite is obsolete already.

    • They are releasing the Voyage as a premium product along the lines of the Kobo Aura HD, and keeping the Kindle Paperwhite as their mid-range product. They are also keeping the Kindle as a low end item.

      • It's massive for me, they're finally bringing back buttons so I have a reason to upgrade my Kindle Keyboard. Always hated touch-only readers, fingersmudges everywhere.

    • Interesting review here http://sixcolors.com/post/2014/11/kindle-voyage-review/
Sounds like the Voyage is not a huge upgrade for the price.

Also shorter battery life, so not great for long voyages.

Kindle Nextgen..Kindle Voyager. So I'm guessing next year's model will be Kindle DeepSpaceNine?

      LOL,maybe kindle StarWar…

    • can't wait for the business version - Kindle Enterprise…

  • I think it's called Kindle Voyage without the 'r' at the end.
This sale has come 2 days too late. I went to JB HIFI store and bought the Kobo Glo. Advertised as $159, asked the salesperson what was the best deal he can give me. He slashed it to $125.

  • +1 for kobo glo.
Have read over 100 books on my two,
Only grumble is the occasional hard reset needed….which I've heared the kindle needs also

I have a Glo and a Kindle Paperwhite. I constantly need to reset the Glo, almost every time I use it. I also find the text crisper on the Paperwhite. I have to reset the Paperwhite maybe every 20th time I use it. Hands down, the Paperwhite is the more comfortable reader to use, although the Kobo store has coupons that bring prices down more often.

Using Calibre, I keep my books on both, but mostly only use the Paperwhite as its my first preference. I love the Paperwhite's light, so easy to change it up and down, whereas the Glo's light would often malfunction on the lowest setting, and was difficult to just adjust slightly.

      • dont know if you use "Pocket" service for trimming and collecting articles from the web, i know it is integrated onto the Kobo, any kindle integration yet do you know ?

        • I don't use it, but I don't think I remember it being there. I do use Goodreads though, and there's integration of that.

  • I've been thinking of upgrading from my old Kindle 3, not sure it's really worth it still. Sure I have no light, but I don't read in the dark. Maybe I'll take a look at the Voyage, is it available yet?

    • The light is worth it……
Provided you can manage on only a few hours of sleep when the new releases come out.

Seriously though, I was really happy with my first ebook - the nook,
The only reason for an upgrade was the built in lighting :-)

I read at night to help me sleep

      • The light in the Paperwhite is so much easier and has much more variance than the Glo. I found the lowest setting on the Glo still too bright at night.
