Has good reviews. Needs Displayport 1.2 to get 4K resolution at 60Hz.

Waiting for sales on the Asus PB287Q (to replace Seiki 39").
I had to sell my 28" 60Hz 4k monitor as it was too small for that resolution. needs to be 30" or larger to really utilize the extra pixels. I imagine 24" will be torture
There are phones coming out with 4K displays. I can only guess that you're referring to poor software support for higher resolutions on Windows. If so, why not bump it down to a lower res while waiting for Windows 10 and other software?
Yeah, and once again a 4K screen on a phone is completely useless but just more so than a 24 inch monitor.
?
Even on a 15" MacBook Pro screen, the difference between normal HD and "Retina" is easily visible.
I'm hanging out for the rumored 12" Air w/Retina. Should be awesome.
I agree, by far the best thing about Apple laptops and desktops is the screens that come with them. Apple focus on experience not utility, I respect that even if I myself could never purchase one.
I think this is aimed for 'Retina' pixel doubling more than 4k use. Effective resolution at about 1080p.
Imagine the cursor. It would be tiny. (I know it's probably scaled, but still)
Was looking at this or the 1440p Dell U2715P for my MBP 13". The Macbook cannot run an external monitor at 4K so if I get this it would be for future use and to currently use the monitor at 1440p. Do you think this is a good idea or should I go for the 27" 1440p option?
Thanks
Would be a complete waste, get the 27'. 4k monitors are only going to come down in price
Yeah thats what I was thinking too. Unless you really need that higher resolution for video editing or photography then the 1440p will be suffice. 27" is a nice size too, excellent for media consumption and playing games.
I currently have a 1080p Dell. Would the increased resolution in the 27" (1440p) be actually noticeable when compared to the 1080p on the 24"?
Thanks
@lahiruwan: Will definitely be a bit more crisp but the larger screen size will probably make you sit a bit further back making it sharper too. 27" is the optimal display size I reckon, its noticeably larger than the 24" but the thin bezels on the new dell monitors will make it look so compact.
Nice one, I'd pick one up but my old MacBook Pro (early 2011) won't support the resolution at 60hz (or possibly even 30hz).
Whoa betide the GPU requirements to game on this.
No probs, just turn all the settings down so it looks worse than with high/ultra settings at 1080p. You also get to pay more, so it's lose-lose!
You can get the Samsung 28" U28D590D for A$755 del from Amazon.
Is the Dell better, aside from local warranty?
The Dell is an IPS panel whereas the Samsung is a TN panel.
Also Scorptec has it for $549+delivery

I see. thanks for that.
Display lag is pretty awful (for gaming) - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/samsung_u28d590d.htm#lag
Ooh this is a very good price for a very good monitor. Normally costs double this.
This is seriously exceptional value. The U2413 which is a 24" monitor at 1200p is around this price when not on special.
One of the few 24 inch 4k IPS screens, still don't think mainstream is ready yet
