  • I know little about cameras but… is this a faux DSLR for posers?

    • http://www.sony.com.au/product/ilce-3500j
      Electronic View Finder => no mirror (APS-C type (23.2 x 15.4mm), "Exmor" APS HD CMOS sensor)
      However you can swap lenses: Lens Compatibility - Sony E-mount lenses
      I think is worth 300 bucks

      • So… I know little about cameras but is this a faux DSLR for posers?

        • So (D)SLR means viewfinder via a reflection (mirror) which means that what you see (through the viewfinder) is what you get.

          As this camera uses an electronic display as viewfinder I cannot call it a DSLR.
          However I am not too sure what you mean by „faux DSLR for posers”, if you explain we will try to confirm or deny…

        • @cristtos: I'm asking if it's simply designed to look like a DSLR to help move units.

        • +1

          @tantryl: No, as far as I know is a legit mirror-less camera.

          @tantryl:

          It is designed to look like a SLR but has essentially the same guts (sensor) of one whilst having no mirror and therefore bring and lighter. Image quality is the same and you can still change lenses.

          This camera cheap and fragile but will deliver in the image quality aspect. I do think it is a 18-50 lens though not the 18-55 stabilized lens.

  • hi, will this lense fit my a77 camera?

    • No, you need A-mount lenses.

  • I picked up the a3000 for 250 bucks a while back, just prior to this model coming out. My initial experience was that this is a great camera, especially for someone who is thinking of getting an SLR but doesn't want to spend the money.

    Since then the camera has impressed me, its easy to use, images look great, it has all the latest effects if that's your thing but you can take decent artistic shots with it using the manual modes. The only let down is the viewfinder, its fine for framing shots but the colours are washed out so its hard to fine tune images while looking through it. Its not a big deal because the screen on the back is great and I have no problem just using that instead, but if a sharp viewfinder that shows true colours is your thing you may want to buy an SLR, I am not sure if any mirrorless cameras come with decent enough digital viewfinders, most don't have them.
