          Great question.

          All NFC-enabled phones will work with the NTAG203 tags. The Topaz 512 tags will also work with all NFC-enabled devices, however there seem to be some firmware issues with the OnePlus One phone that's preventing the device from recognising the Topaz tags. We're still waiting for a fix from the phone manufacturer and in the meantime we'd recommend the NTAG203 for the OnePlus One phone.

    I ordered some of these a month or 2 ago. I finally got around to having a play last night - they work great with my S5….once I worked out the ariel is in the bottom half of my phone.

    Service from Whiztags was fast last time, so big thumbs up from me.
    Plus I couldn't resist, just bought some more.

      A little bit of a tricky one to answer as it depends on the material of the case and the strength of the NFC receiver on your phone. 'Lighter' cases are generally OK, but things start getting a little murky when you start getting into rigid cases (especially things like your Otterbox defenders).

      Great question. The tags are compatible with all NFC enabled devices including Windows phones & tables, the Galaxy S5 and even the new iPhone. Just keep in mind that you'll need an app to write to the tags. While this isn't an issue with Android and Windows, the apps for the iPhone are still lacking (mainly because we're still waiting for Apple to open up NFC for developers in iOS).

      Both tags (NTAG203 and Topaz 512) are compatible with the iPhone 6 and will register with the device. However, you'll need a (free) app to read and write to the tags. The iPhone is still lacking in NFC apps as this is the first iPhone to support NFC and Apple has yet to allow developers access to the NFC functionality in iOS.

          Unfortunately not as of yet. We're still waiting for Apple to give us the right tools to create an app. I've seen a couple of NFC apps in the app store but the functionality is really questionable at the moment and they're extremely limited when it comes to features.

      Thanks for the question! Please have a look at the comment above regarding the iPhone and a lack of available NFC apps.

      We've got a couple of cool ideas for the tags our website: https://www.whiztags.com/nfc-tag-ideas/

      The possibilities are really endless and we've seen some customers get really creative (one is developing a home automation system where doors/windows/lights etc are controlled with the tags). Another common use is allowing people access to your Wifi network instantly without them needing to input or even know your password. A simple tap results in the network being connected to.

      The best way to gauge real life uses is to have a scroll through the app store for NFC related apps. With NFC currently exploding, new NFC apps are always popping up.

      The biggest difference (besides the design) is the memory capability. Lots of customers prefer the NTAG203 tags because they suit their needs. The Topaz tags are great for somebody who wants to pack more features onto each NFC tag.

    Have to give props to WhizTags customer service. I bought some tags through them last year in a previous deal, but didn't bother to check if they were compatible with my phone. So they didn't work and were pretty useless to me, but it was own mistake. I thought I would shoot them a message anyway to see if I could return my tags for credit towards the (more expensive) tags that would work with my phone. Not only did they OK the return without any fuss, but also sent me the other tags with no further prompt nor cost. On top of all that, they sent me a thank you message for returning the tags in good condition. So anyway, just thought I would share that.

    Funny how the iPhone 6(+) users are commenting on this and clearly are oblivious to the fact that apple has (currently) blocked all use of the NFC chip that isn't apple pay.

      Any NFC-enabled device will register these tags. Some Galaxy S2 devices are NFC enabled (although the Australian variant isn't unfortunately, assuming of course it was purchased locally). Usually NFC will show up in your settings panel next to Wifi and Bluetooth if your device supports NFC.

      These are our Mifare tags, which are not compatible with all NFC devices (use an older chip). Our NTAG203 and Topaz 512 tags are compatible with all NFC enabled devices and have slightly quicker read/write times.

      The biggest difference is really the size of the chips. The NTAG203 chip has 137 bytes of writeable memory whereas the Topaz 512 has 450 bytes. The NTAG203 is great for the regular user, however if you're looking at using command combinations, the Topaz 512 is your best best. That and of course the design of the tags!

    In fact the white phone pictured at the top of the '18 Creative uses' link posted by the OP http://trendblog.net/creative-and-useful-ways-to-use-nfc-tag… is a Pureview 808.

    I got my 808 primarily for the 45 megapixel camera that's almost as good as a DSLR. The phone has a little pre-installed tutorial on NFC so I've been meaning to play with this new feature for ages and now the OP's special offer has given me an excuse :-)

        Yay, there are two of us! I could go on another anti M$ rant about how M$ destroys the best technology by buying companies and taking their products off the market etc but I won't. Been there done that.

        In a couple years 45 mega pixel smart phones will probably be standard but for now an elite few of us can have a DSLR in our pocket. And we can also have a DSLR smart phone with NFC capability at a good price now too :-)

        I also love the 4 mic audio recording. I forget the brand name for it but if you Google you can find Youtube videos of live concerts shot with the 808 where you can actually hear the music instead of the crowd. Ditto for recording audio on windy beaches etc.

          Just putting it out there, just because it's 45MP doesn't mean it's as good as a DSLR.
          It has a 1/1.2" sensor, which is very impressive for a smartphone, but is only about a quarter the size of a DSLR's APS-C sensor.
          For image quality sensor size is what matters, and 1/1.2" ≠ APS-C

          I know, I know - I was being a little bit cheeky. If you check my post at the beginning of the thread you'll see I said 'almost as good as a DSLR'.

          FWIW though, this review http://www.phonearena.com/news/Nokia-808-PureView-goes-again… compared the 808 to several leading DSLR and found it tied with one. In fairness, the review went on to say that it tied 'in optimal light conditions' but that in lower light it wouldn't have done as well as the DSLR.

          P.S. And I got the pixels wrong it's 41 MP not 45 MP :-/

          SteveOh, I don't know the brand itself, but Nokia called it 'Rich Recording', which is second to none. HTC used it on their HTC One, but got sued by Nokia and HTC lost the case. Nokia makes quality hardware and the Nokia 808 is the pinnacle of Nokia Symbian.

It's really sad that by the time Nokia got Symbian working well it was too late and they got bought out by Microsoft. I'm going to keep using my E7 and 808 for as long as possible. I'm not really into playing the latest games on my phone and MS is still releasing system updates so I'll probabl get another 2-3 years out of them.

        I reckon the N97 is what killed Nokia. I briefly owned an N97. The N97 was pitched by Nokia as a competitor to the iPhone. As much as I hate the iPhone and all its proprietary locked down rubish it offered an intuitive interface and SMOOTH scrolling. With the N97 you'd scroll and it wouldn't respond. So you'd scroll some more. And it would then scroll a whole heap all at once - twice as far as you wanted. It was like surfing the web on Windows 3.1 with too little RAM. I reckon Nokia would have been better off scraping the N97 or selling it at a loss in the third world rather than charging similar prices to Apple and trashing its reputation with a defective product.

        I still have a Nokia E7 which I love. The slide out keyboard allows me to take real notes and write full, long e-mails without heaps of typos. And both it and the 808 are nice and fast with smooth scrolling. Alas, by the time Nokia brought the E7 to market it was too late. The war was already lost and the rest is history.

        Actually, Nokia almost got a second chance with the N9 based on LINUX. It got good reviews and users loved it. I actually saw lots of people using it around Melbourne. But then STephan Elop announced that no matter how well the N9 continued to sell he was stil dumping it in favour of M$ Windoze phone. He should be investigated.

          I believe the N97 had a resistive touch screen? Which might explain it's crappy scrolling. The little full keyboard was absolutely brilliant - but that was it.

          Good points re the N97. The resistive screen might have been part of the problem or the entire problem - I don't know for sure but I reckon the software and cpu were also deficient because web pages loaded too slowly.

          The slide out keyboard on the E7 is even better… a lot better in fact and the E7 comes with a full licence/version of Pocket office. That's if you can stil find an E7 anywhere. They occassionally pop up on ebay and there are one or two online shops still selling them.

    I usually consider prompt service to be when an order ships the same day I placed it. Well, it looks like they shipped my order within an hour (really more like 10 minutes) of placing it. Can't wait to cover my house with the little buggers and automate everything.

    I think I'm going to try to start my washing machine by tapping it with my smart phone LOL!

    I got these last year, wrote to three tags. But have found the balance of tags are no longer writable or detected by my xperia Z.

    The other three work fine it seems.

    Received my tags today. I should have done more research though, they're not nearly as useful as I had hoped.
    My phone needs to not only be on, but unlocked before it registers the tap.
    I understand the reasoning for this, and apparently there's a workaround if you have root, but it really impacts the benefits of automation.

    If I have to unlock my phone anyway, I might as well just create a task to be run from a button.

    Also, if you want to toggle something using tags you need to actually tap the tag again to register the toggle, there doesn't appear to be an app that runs a task when the tag is near, and another when removed. This makes using it as a 'dock' trigger kind of stupid, as you'd need to take it off the dock, then touch the dock again to get out of 'docked' state.

    I can still see a (very) few useful situations for the tags, but definitely won't be needing 10 tags…
