Got an email this morning from Cathay Pacific advertising sale fares, particularly to Hong Kong and Beijing. Fares start at $836 return to Hong Kong, $857 to Beijing. I have tested this and can confirm these prices currently for flights from Melbourne in March 2015. Good price for a great airline.
looks like that price is for Melbourne?… just checked for ex BNE and it's around $13XX for their cheapest during late Feb/March period :/
Sorry I don't know, the email just said prices 'start' at… It may be cheaper to fly from Melbourne as I think that's where the direct flight departs from, but not 100% on that.
May be better to wait until Qantas has a sale, because the last time they did Cathay offered comparable fares ($850 return from Sydney to Hong Kong) through STA at least.
Looks like the deal is for all capital cities

Is this only for Melbourne? I took a look at Sydney in departing and returning in the March period, and it is around $1000 return.
