Please read about mynetphone in whirlpool blog before purchsing any product. They are very poor with both customer service and products. Also they are an Optus DSLAM reseller

    • I am with them but will be terminated next month. So bad service. Strongly recommend NOT to buy!

    • $199 setup on the no-contract option and $99 to relocate the service to another address
    • $199 'break fee' if you want to move to a lower plan

    NO DEAL!

I was with them. Their customer service was good, but not the internet. The Optus network has a congestion in my local exchange. And I wasn't able to watch YouTube, which was a lot of buffering. So at the end of my contract I moved to Internode. More expensive, but I can watch YouTube smoothly.

    • ^ this.

I've been with them for 4 years and it has steadily gotten worse. I have called then several times regarding the slow speeds and each time they run the same tests and say they will escalate the issue or enquire with the wholesaler. Then they say "how strange, we'll continue to look into it"

At one point they blamed the slow speeds on my 'slow' laptop which, in their opinion, was unable to run www.speedtest.net 'properly'.

Even watching 360p YouTube needs to be buffered.

Only reason I'm still on then is cos I am waiting for nbn to finish installation so don't want to be locked into another adsl contract.

    • Totally agreed with Saturday and praveen4. My folk's internet was involuntary moved across as the previous ISP/wholesaler had gone into some sort of administration, and boy or boy…..the service AND internet SUCked big time. Luckily we weren't locked into a contract and were outta there ASAP and with tpg now. Now getting terrific download speed and top customer service. Stay away from mynetphone is all I can say. U pay cheap or get cheap!

Why pay for dial tone on a normal phone line when you can use VOIP

Because it costs about the same whether you get a PSTN line or not…

    • agreed

    • Can you provide an example where it costs about the same?

      • exetel

        • Agree the plan is better but having experienced their customer service, far worse.

        • @stevecau:

I left Exetel because of particularly bad service. Adam Internet are better, but not my much. Any performance/reliability issue is not investigated with any seriousness - eg. squeals/echoes over VOIP. Even when you are both using Adam supplied modems, and both on Adam internet - they still have elaborate excuses :)

  • What's the use of extra quota if the speeds are slower than dialup?

Earlier this year, I signed up for Naked DSL with MNF, took four weeks to set up my connection. Connection and download speeds were laughable - at one point I was getting 1700-2000ms ping and 0.1Mbps download speed. Customer service is horrendous, the call centre staff I dealt with are unknowledgeable and quite rude. I eventually moved to Exetel 6 months later, MUCH cheaper plans and faster speeds.

    • What was the difference in speeds? Surely that's a line/hardware issue?

  • Note that if you have existing bad congestion on the ADSL in your area, VOIP is not for you. Calls will sound like they're Dalek-to-Dalek. Changing ISPs won't change your ADSL speed or quality unless you're extremely lucky.
