  • Nice.

  • It says $104 at the website still?

    • This is a walk in only deal - discount will be applied at the point of sale in store.

  • for those that live in the past lol love the sentiment you mean those with experience :)

Netplus is based in Western Australia (for those who don't know)

Anyone who doesn't buy a brand because they've had a bad line at some point, doesn't ever buy anything from anywhere…

Hitachi have been fine for, what, about 8 years? That's experience.

    • bad luck, the bad experience is only coming to you.

      • Brands I would never buy if I went off of things people from the internet bagged because they had a bad experience:

Asus (I personally had a batch of 15 mainboards, where 4 turned out to be faulty), Gigabyte, MSI, ECS, AsRock, Intel, AMD, ATI, nVidia, Samsung, LG, BenQ, HP, Dell, Hitachi, IBM, Western Digital/WD, Seagate, HIS, DFI, Targus, Toshiba, Viewsonic, Antec, Coolermaster, Thermaltake, Enlight, and so on.

I welcome a reason not to buy this drive… I don't want to buy something that's likely to break. But I'd like a reason that doesn't involve magical thinking connecting this drive with a problem that was fixed almost a decade ago.

Do you have a reason that is at all relevant to this drive?

Perhaps you could please update the title to "[WA] Hitachi 1TB for $90. Walk in only" or something…

    • +2

I have done so. But to be fair - nobody ever makes noise when the deal is NSW or VIC only do they?

      • A few people get worked up when it's not in their region - particularly with costco and fluidtek bargains.

There a little bit of discussion here - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/16218

PS - you need a netplus in sydney lol

its good to have those deals on both sides of the country. Keeps those who winge that there are never any deals over in west happy.

They've even given negatives in the past.

Specifying state and that it's a walk in only deal avoids confusion and negatives :)

great deal @ WA, thanks a lot!

    • Vote + if you like the deal!! :) Its how this site works..

  • Maybe you are living in the past, 1TB Hard Drives are sooooooo 2008! Do you have a good deal on a 1.5TB SATA2 7200rpm?

I will be in Perth in 2 weeks and can pick it up :P

  • only 16 Mb buffer size?
is the performance any difference with the 32 Mb buffer?

    • Any discernable difference would be negligible IMHO, everything else being equal! ;)

My recent experience with Seagate (x2) has left me distrustful, not of their ability to produce a decent drive, but of their ethical business practices in regard to marketing a line of drives with a known fundamental flaw, then waiting for complaints to build up rather than adopt a proactive stand!

I'm not too parochial about hardware, but I still have a leaning toward WD, I won't deny that, I've never had the kinds of problem with their stuff the likes of my Seagates! Ok, that's anecdotal, as is the fact I've switched out dozens of Hitachi drives in laptops for upgrade purposes only, regardless of age, all of these were (and some still are) fully functional!

I can't vouch for the desktop drives, and I've heard nothing bad about them from a reliability perspective; but if the 2.5" variants are anything to go by they may be worth giving them a go if the price is right! Always do your due diligence and check out whatever model you intend to buy 1st and you should be all right! ;)

CRAZY! We have not only extended this offer, we have now made it $85!

    • +1

I was able to resist at $90. But at $85? Damn it, I'm going to have to get one, even though I have absolutely no need for it :P

I'll see you tomorrow. And the day after, maybe :P

  • mmm tempting, although i just bought like $600 in hdds from netplus over the last 1.5months lol

  • hrm i need one, are there still some left?

    • +1

Plenty, if their site is accurate. And since the NetPlus rep only posted 4hrs ago when the stores would have been closed to announce an extension of the deal… it seems like the site's accurate.

We might do something similar in Sydney very soon. That's good idea of generating walk-in traffic, thumbs up for ya.

    • iibuy, I find your 1.5TB Samsung for $139.99 with free shipping is quite good. I surprise that you didn't put it in.

  • Just picked one up, loading it up now.
No problem in store, seemed to have plenty.
    Thanks Netplus.
