    Note :

    Does not include pedals…

It does however include the seat…

If you spend this much on a bike you wouldn't want the stock standard pedals anyway. Nice pedals can be about 100. And having spent that much on pedals, you might also want a pair of matching shoes - which can range from 150 upwards… By the time you know it, you'll be spending hundreds to shave off a few grams! So no.. not a cheap hobby :(

This is JV's ongoing ironic joke in all threads about roadbikes, prompted by comments from non-cyclists complaining about high end bikes with no pedals. Obviously anybody buying a roadbike will get their particular preference of pedals, be that speedplay, shimano, look, keo etc

        • prompted by comments from non-cyclists complaining about high end bikes with no pedals.

          who is a non-cyclist? check your facts…

Obviously anybody buying a roadbike will get their particular preference of pedals

Same goes with seats, so why are they included ???

        • +1

@jv: OUCH, that Lycra is earning it's keep! Don't you hate that euro race fit aero clothing!

        • @jv: Seats are included because this is a mail order bike. If you buy your bike from a Local Bike Shop (LBS) they normally give you a basic bike fit and swap your stem/saddle if needed or give you a discount option to upgrade, some even have a 'trial' period for saddles where you can go back and exchange.

My guess is that the saddle included here is probably very basic under the assumption that anybody serious will ditch it ASAP and pop on their favoured Adamo, Fizik or Selle!

how is that different to pedals ?

        • @jv:

I believe that saddles does not rely on you having the compatible bibs where as pedals have alot more variation, even if its just between road and mtb clip less pedals.

bum cheeks and nads come in all shapes and sizes…

        • @jv: You're right they should throw in pedals ideally something flat, plastic and heavy, something that you could strip off and switch across to a project MTB/BMX you are building at home. Well spotted JV, no getting one over on you.

In most cases, even wheels can sometimes fit into the ditch category. In this case however the Fulcrum 5's are probably good for this level of bike. I can't complain anyway as a guy on one of the bunches I ride with has Fulcrum 5's and he leaves me for dead up hills!

        • @jv: bum cheeks and nads come in all shapes and sizes…

true, but one can still sit on it with relative comfort. Where as pedals are difficult to match. And if you add some generic pedals without clips, they are just absolutely useless and devalues the whole bike. In the end of the day, its all about compromise…

    • This joke never gets old

    • Must also note that it does not include a bell… it does however include handlebars…

An true ozbargainer would not spend 2k on a push bike, let alone one with no pedals.

These "high end bikes" sell for $500 on ebay and gumtree everyday.

      Most likely stolen though.

        the pedals ???

link one please, im keen on a $500 2014 ultegra equipped bike

      • yep I am one of the suckers that needlessly squandered thousands on a roadbike, show me a $500 version, preferably with Di2 and some Zipp Firecrest wheels!

      • I don't even need a whole bike. Just give me a link for a $500 11-speed Ultegra groupset please

    • $500? Yeah right. 5 finger discounted?

Anyway, I personally would never buy a no-name carbon bike (unless the frameset had extensive positive reviews. However, that goes for any bike, regardless of branding).

I would also never purchase a second hand carbon bike (unless I knew the person who owned it, and had a rough idea how many kilometres it has on it).

Then again, each to their own.

      • wouldn't it be 2 legged discount?

      • Even the 'Chinarello' no-name carbon frames cost between $350 - $500 mail order and you have to then buy all the bits to build them up. Agree with your sentiments though, wouldnt fancy the frame cracking under you at 70 km/hr

        • Many years ago, a former co-worker of my brother had his forks fail, at speed, down hill.

Resulted in a shattered lower jaw as well as other facial fractures, the loss of most of his teeth, broken ribs, collapse/punctured lung, and internal bleeding. If he wasn't wearing a helmet, he would have died.

Extensive skin grafting and numerous other surgeries were required. He was out of work for ages.
