Transcend SSD370 Series
128GB: $65
256GB: $116
512GB: $242
Yes it is under 250 for 512 but the controller not as fast as rivals. By the 256 price X 2 it should be 230, still it is local, support whenever possible.

That's assuming you are using it as your OS drive.
I just migrated my OS to SSD on the weekend. What's so hard? Took 20 mins to copy the data, then change boot order. Or was I lucky?
If unsure buy the Samsung Pro SSD, it comes with the imaging software and was a piece of cake to do, some workmates got some other SSD without software and I know they had a hard time getting it done.
-@ burnstar The whole Samsung ssd range comes with Samsung Data Migration Software cd and printed installation guide. If you don't have a dvd drive, you can download software free from Samsung, and it is all easy to use, just back up personal data first. Some Intel models used to come with cloning software too, as well as some other brands/models, but check first. I believe SanDisk is soon including this also.
I've migrate numerous HDD to SSD on both personal and friends computers without any problems.
All comes down to laptop vs PC.
PC? easy.
Laptop? You're drive juggling often with caddy's involved.
Yes not as easy with a laptop, but a simple USB to SATA adaptor cable for under $10 does the job.

i always fresh install os with my HDD/SSD is easy just my peronal preferance.
maybe it's not an easy task for you!
nothing hard about copying the user folder over and re-installing a few apps on a super fast disk lol (in comparison do hdd)
you will never settle for hdd after using ssd :)
How many people have windows recovery disk for booting in order to change the MBR or they know about uefi boot?
Cloning usually does not copy the MBR and that needs to be fixed if someone is planning to change from HDD to ssd. For a person with technical know how it is an easy task. Not for your average Joe.
It's not a huge task to re-install OS. plus sometimes better for fresh install as you get a less bloated OS.
get software like Acronis of ghost for quicker migration :)
A fresh install is always a good thing sometimes.
Yeah, it's really not that hard to install a few programs. If you have a bunch of steam games, just back them up first so you don't have to re-download them.
"always a good thing sometimes" :P
So are these reliable/have good speed or should I look for some other brand? Any recommendations please?
These were released not too long ago. No reliability stats yet.
I've been looking into this too and it seems like the Samsung Evo 840 is the sweet spot for price/performance ratio at the moment. $132 for 256GB so I think I'll go with that instead.
should i wait for samsung 8400 or should take this one ? does it have delivery charges @op?
i have asus x 202e celeron , thats slow as an ant
with a celeron, I don't think I/O access speed will be a bottleneck once you get an SSD, any SSD.
I'd get this. It may be cheap, it may not be as fast as 840 Pro or extreme II, but its still many times faster than a regular spinner drive.
Unless you know how to migrate your HDD to SSD, don't bother. It is not an easy task unless you are doing a fresh install.
