i would probably lean towards this one if you're not planning to open it up, better protection for the hdd… but perhaps warmer running.

Quite simply, 2.5" = powered over USB, 3.5" = external power supply required
3.5 generally cheaper too because you have to lug around a power supply and they're bigger/heavier.

The internal hard drive is removable from the case. They both use the exact same 2tb 9.5mm sata drive. Buy whatever is cheaper if you are going to remove the drive and use in another device.
As for differences. Backup Slim. Smaller metal case with backup software app. Expansion portable thicker polycarbonate plastic case.
Like g said, if you are after the hard drive only go for this one but for use as a portable hard drive having owned both, I would spend the little extra for better build quality and MAC compatibility.
