dont use amazon currency calculator. Pay in USD and use either a 28 degree's card or citibank card to save a couple more bucks

      • +1

Thanks easternculture, you saved me a Few bucks by paying via Citibank and paying in USD. I have been paying too much for years:)
        Cheers
        Darren

      • Tried with Citibank Card *Amazon.com AMZN.COM/BILLUS USD 178.86 -AUD 206.93
When I checked price with Amazon AU price before checkout it was "AUD 204.89"
        So Citibank Screwed me $2.04
Oh well, was worth a try

Bargain price for a 2TB portable drive. Hope soon amazon will drop their price on WD drives too.

    • +5

seagate are better for warranty as mentioned in OP

WD drives need to be sent at your own expense OS

Thanks EC. Another great post, and $105 poorer :(

    • +1

haha TA, are you impulse buying again

      • +1

Yep. Just adding it to the collection.

Crack it open for a 2.5" 2TB drive! Should have SATA to USB interface card as well unless seagate have started using specialised USB interfaces like they do for their Samsung 2.5" portable hard drives.
Doing this will void your warranty though, but this is the cheapest way to get your hands on a Samsung Spinpoint 2.5" 2TB drive.

You can get the dick out the USB case and put this 9.5mm 2T to laptop or PS4

      • +1

get the dick out the USB

        Freudian slip much? :P

    • +1

someone can confirm it is removable hdd?

also how about backup plus removal?

    • -8

I don't think the drive linked in this post for $92 delivered is the one that contains the 2.5" 9.5mm drive inside. That one is still $99 USD + Shipping

  • the new optoma 141x dropped in price too, 727 aud, no way you can get that price here…

  • -6

So tempted to buy these and a Synology DS414Slim for a cheapish-small- home NAS.

    • Then why would you neg the deal?

  • Thanks op! Last time purchased it for 99usd. Great buy!

  • +1

Sorry for sounding dense but Dicksmith has Seagate 2TB Portable for $99 here:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-SEAGATE-Hard-Drive-Portable-E…

Its only $7 cheaper at Amazon after shipping is included.

Also the dicksmith website has it for $99 as well with free click n collect. This could have been combined with a $20 coupon that expired recently.

Wrong link - links to Seagate 2Tb portable, but not SLIM.

  • Excellent price but I can't seem to make up my mind to go for Seagate. Just that I care about my data.

    • always sync it to your pc, and no more worries

with any portable, and how valuable the data is
you should always a backup sync

  • Just bought one, thanks OP.

  • That's a very good price. Makes me wish I didn't buy 5 of them last time which are still unopened.

  • +1

Thanks OP however, I got it for 102.21 AUD instead because I have chosen USD and used the GE money's 28 degree Card. I noticed that the AUD option will let Amazon use their exchange rate which might include a Amazon fee at their choosing! With other Aussie credit cards, you probably end up the same amount as Amazon's though.

I've gone right off Seagates since 2 out of my 3 were recently found to have lots of bad sectors. One of them is 3 years old, the other about 5.

    • wow cheap

      is that the same drive?

      no paypal though…

      • no idea if it's the same drive. i'll see when it arrives (purchased a week ago).

really shouldn't limit shopping just to paypal supported vendors.

spent nearing $1k on aliexpress, I won't claim every transaction has been perfect, but nothing serious enough to make me stop.

        been paying with 28degree card.

          That seller has 0 feedback?

        • @rapoot6:

lol goodluck Desertsyd if you bought it from that seller

  • I literally just bought this 2TB drive last week for $11 more or something from Amazon, argh.

Anyways, it's worked like a charm in my new PS4.

    • If you do an online chat with Amazon, they'll usually refund you the difference if it's within 7 days of you receiving it. I did this with an m500 256 GB SATA SSD drives (check the past deals, there was a deal and then a week later a cheaper deal, and in the comments people were explaining how to get the lower price on orders from the first deal, using online chat). Amazon are pretty good that way.

  • I hate the connections seagate use, on the side of the drive of course (the other side is std USB). I bent one last week to breaking point, lucky I had a spare one from my last 'broken' seagate drive. There's a plus for yas, at least when the drive breaks down you can keep the cable as spare!
