Tegra 4 ASUS TF701T Tab + Dock (USD $364.01) Via Amazon or $414 + Ship AUD Kogan / Comp Alliance

70

ASUSTEK's latest Asus Transformer android netvertible.

3 places to buy from — Computer Alliance has this for $409 plus variable delivery or Amazon for roughly $414 AUD delivered and finally Kogan has the 64 GB version for $415 plus delivery. It's a high performance tab with Tegra 4, eye popping 2560 x 1600 display and a long battery life.

The bundle includes the keyboard dock which doubles as a power bank extending the usage to a whopping 17 hours (claimed anyway). The dock has a full size USB3 port allowing you to plug in any OTG supported device.

Enjoy, ducklings.

Great price on a good product, however I'm going to point out some negatives:

    • If you want to use the keyboard because you want to write things often, get a Windows device that has a better Office Suite.
    • If you want a gaming device, get an NVIDIA Shield tablet which uses the more powerful NVIDIA K1 processor and is cheaper.
    • If you primarily want to read books or surf the web, get one that is more portable (smaller).

If you want a device that is capable of all 3, then this is a good product at a great price.

Please note before buying Tegra K1 based chips are out now, probably why prices are dropping.

    • @FabMan fair points but:
      * the keyboard is included in the price so consider it a freebie that you MAY sometimes use. If you really want a great keyboard, I recommend the Logitech K810 bluetooth keyboard. Also there is no need for a Windows device, Google Apps does google docs AND Microsoft Office docs on- and off-line.
      * there are plenty of good android gaming devices. With respect to TF701T, if you want a 10" gaming tablet then this as good as anything else. @FabMan are there currently any specific games which run better on the K1 than a Tegra 4?
      * I typically use a 7" tablet for ebook reading (Nexus 7), but if I am reading from PDF or reading technical docs, I find a 10" device far superior.

The main reservation I have with the Asus TF701T is the nand flash performance holds it back from being a truly great device. On the plus side, the screen is one of the best available. Other considerations: it uses a proprietary charging cable; the keyboard dock is not for everyone.

      • I won't disagree with those views as they are reasonable but I don't agree with them based on my experiences. :D

  • Thanks OP, I've ordered one from Kogan (Asus Australia warranty, $9 delivery), and used the Qwibble cashback to save another 0.6%.

  • No longer available from Kogan. Amazon and Computer Alliance still valid.
