Determinately fake. Look at the Transaction History & Feedback at the bottom of the page. It is showing that people have been buying this from them at so called $126.00 Price. And their discounted price now is $12.60.

Mine arrived. Checked serial number at chaxun.xiaomi.com seems to be geniune. I'll see if i can pull it apart later and check the internals.

    • How do online serial checking systems like that work? Can a counterfeiter buy 100 genuine ones and use the 100 genuine serial numbers on their 10,000 fakes?

      • The website will show that serial has been checked (with how many times) or the first time it is checked.

        • Awesome, that should be good enough then!

        • @eug:

No countermeasure is perfect. But the more measures there are the better. I think pulling it apart and comparing to the online photos is probably the best way to check.

  • Received and verified as genuine on mi website. Quick delivery. Will purchase again when back available.

  • Cant find the english manual to maxmize the efficiency for re-charing the powerbank when it runs out of battery!Anyone help plz!

    • Just plug it in and recharge anytime.

    • Here's a review from Gizmodo about this xiaomi powerbank. (old packing is nicer, but no longer produce)

Just a piece of information from this review: "There’s enough energy stored away in the Xiaomi to restore the health of your Samsung Galaxy S5 (2800mAh) three times with plenty of change; an iPhone 5S (1560mAh) can be charged almost seven times. Even the massive, power-hungry Samsung Galaxy NotePRO (9500mAh) can be fully recharged with a little juice to spare"

This review is a little bit careless! We never get that figure!! For Samsung S4 and S5, we get around 3 charges and iPhone 5s around 4 charges.

        A better review here: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/review-xiaomis-10400mah-mi-po…

    • My Chinese is a bit rusty too. This is the best I could find: http://en.miui.com/thread-24430-1-1.html

  • SO I bought two which arrived today :-) only thing is that one is already fully charged (gold) and the other one is still charging (silver), second light flashing, is there anything I might be missing here?

    • OK so it just got to the third light! now flashing, and it's been charging for almost 7 hours now… is it normal?

      • If you are using a 2 amp charger it will charge the Xiaomi 10400 mah powerbank to full in 5.5 hours.I just confirmed it again today by using my samsung s4 charger. You might be using a 1A charger which will take approximately double the time 11 hours………

        • That's correct, using a 2A charger is much quicker. Or you'll just need leaving it overnight.

Where do I find the serial to verify? http://order.mi.com/service/dyscode is asking for a 20 digit serial but I can't find anything close to 20 digits

I don't think mine is genuine because I've measured its output and it's only 1amp.
I know for a fact that cable and my S4 on custom kernel can take in 2amp because that's how I charge it everyday and can monitor exactly how much current it's taking in

  • Finally got around to ordering one

Great news! The new stock of Xuaomi 10400mAh portable power bank has arrived in our local warehouse. Even the cost has increased due to currency change, our management decided to keep the deal at same price, as promised. Thank you all for supporting Mushtato, your AU local business.

Goddamn it, this deal has been active twice in the time it's taken NOT to receive mine from Banggood.

    • +5

It is always a good idea to have a spare one. You will never know when you will need it :)

    • Me too :((

  • Any idea when or if it will drop to $25.95 again? Planning to buy one, but missed out.

    • They're still $29.95..

      • He said $25.95..

  • Can anyone suggest a place to get a nice case/housing (it's so sharp on the fingers!) for this ?

    • +3

I bought this with mine, it fits nice and snug and looks pretty nice when you put it on. Only a few bob, but you might be able to find one cheaper.

      • Non-original ones are $1.38 on ebay. I went with the original one that you posted as it's only $2 more, so I might as well support Xiaomi.

        I hope it's original anyway!

  • Okay well mine says "Your security code is millet mobile power produced code official Security code your query has been queried 1 time"

So I'm guessing it's geniune, but when I tested it, it could only charge 3 galasy s4 i9505 batteries which is 2600mah

    2600mah x 3 = 7800

Still not as high as rated!

    Anyone tested the capacity yet?
Also, what are the cells inside like, I mean what's the lowest voltage they can take before being damaged like lipos?

    • +3

That looks correct. It's not just a simple matter of matching the mAh numbers, you have to calculate the Wh rating and factor in efficiency.

I just got mine this week and will get around to testing it soon.

      • Cool, look forward to your results

    • Mine only lasted 2 full charges with my OnePlus one. And there's this annoying part where the Xiaomi LED will not stop flashing.

      • The number of times this item can be used to charge is depending on the battery capacity of your phone.
It also varies by the power your phone consumes during charging.
Once the LED lights are flashing, they are preset to last 2 minutes.

Ok just got around to doing some tests. The power bank is rated at 10.4A. That's from four LGABB41865 3.7V cells, which equates to 38.48Wh (P=IV). At 5V, that would be I=P/V which would be 7.696Ah. That is the ideal capacity if efficiency was 100%.

I did a discharge test at 2A, 1.5A, and 1A. The results are here (PDF).

    Summary:
The first 2A test was done when the pack was fairly new, so I'll just refer to the second test which was done after a few full cycles. The calculated capacity was 6.426Ah. That's an efficiency of 83.5% which is not that close to the perfect-world 91% (at 2.1A) quoted by the TI BQ24195 controller spec sheet. Real-world measurements are often different to spec sheets since the supporting circuitry plays a role too, so I'm not too surprised.

Also not surprisingly, efficiency goes up as discharge current goes down. At 1.5A the calculated capacity was 6.727Ah, and at 1A, 7.038Ah. That's an efficiency of 87.4% and 91.4% respectively. For comparison, my 1-year-old lightly-used Romoss sofun1 2600mAh power bank delivers 1.543Ah with a 1A discharge, for an efficiency of 80.2%.

I also did some recharging measurements with my Samsung 5.0V 2A (ETA-U90HWE) and 5.3V 2A (EP-TA10HWE) chargers. Charging time is definitely affected by voltage. Current draw with the 5.3V charger (measured at 5.53V) peaks at 2.1A for short intervals, while the 5.0V charger (5.07V) it peaks at just under 1.8A. With another PSU that delivered 4.94V, the current draw was 1.24A. That would have taken much longer to charge. The voltage drop from using too-long or underrated USB cables will result in a slower charge too.

With the 5.3V charger, a full charge took about 5 hours and 40 minutes. With the 5.0V charger, it took about 6 hours and 42 minutes.

    5.0V Recharge Test
    5.3V Recharge Test

So my conclusion is that it's fantastic value for money. The rated capacity is as accurate as any other legit power bank. While it's not that much more efficient than other power banks, IMHO the excellent parts, price, and build quality makes it pointless to buy any other brand at the moment unless you need specific features.

    • Thanks for the detailed review. So, stupid question time - how do you discharge at different levels of amperage? I guess there are times when you want a device to charge a little quicker.

      • Not a stupid question at all. Your device will charge at the maximum current it can take that the adaptor can provide, so it'll always be "quickest". To slow it down for whatever reason, you could just use a crappy usb cable. :)

        • Cool. So that small USB cable they provided with the power bank should handle charging 2/2.1A devices then?

        • @mastablasta: Yes, that cable is ideal for charge and discharge, Cause it's physically short :P

        • @mastablasta: I haven't specifically checked it, but I'm quite certain that it will handle 2.1A fine.

      • Thank you eug, for the this efforts. We can now see clearly what's the value included. :)

      • Thanks eug. Legend!

    • Could we charge the power bank at 2A without problems?
I've got an S4 charger that outputs 2.1A with it's USB (I've measured it)

      Thanks

      • +1

Yes i have used my S4 charger to charge the Xiaomi power bank in 5.5 hours

      • +1

No problem. It's designed to recharge safely.

You can see the thermistor in the dsc01536.jpg photo above. It's to monitor cell temperature.

        • I wonder eug is a electrical engineer ?

        • +1

@mushtato: Whoops sorry, got caught up in the awesome Dyson deal and forgot about this thread. Thanks for offering to replace my opened-up power bank! I've received it already.

EE was one of my two choices, but I found computers more exciting so studied that instead. Electronics still remains in my heart though! :)
