I have been building up a couple of bikes and regularly buying up bargain bits and pieces from all over the net. If you are after any Shimano Bike Bits this looks like a good deal. Sometimes other sites like Ribble and Merlin have some better prices but with this extra 10% and free shipping this looks hard to beat. Great opportunity for anybody wanting to spruce up the steed before 'around the bay' or any of the summer charity rides. A new chain/cassette combo or even some new shoes.

Dont forget Starthere or Qwibble for cashback on your purchase as well

I ordered some parts from Germany yesterday (MTB Disc Rotors) wondering if I can cancel the order and buy from Chainreaction instead.

  • Good deal on chaino, spent $260 on stuff there the other day and it was so cheap! Their lprices are so much better than lbs which is the sad truth.

  • wiggle.com is another good option and Ive found it's slightly cheaper, spend about $82 and shipping is free. I've been waiting on CRC for 14days now.. cmooonn

  • I rarely find anything cheaper on Wiggle anymore. Ribble normally has the best prices and they often have % off sales as well, they also do free shipping on orders around the $100 mark. Ribble sells out really quick though if you are after popular stuff.

  • Time to share my secret weapon…

German websites that charge 20 euro for postage but their prices are often mad, particularly after German 20% VAT is taken off. Normally a Roadie I thought I might try MTB-ing and build up a frame. I went looking for suspension forks and nearly fell off my laptop at the prices. The German guys seemed to be well below all others on pricing. I found a set of RS Pike forks for about $650 ish delivered to OZ compared to about double that RRP here in Aust. The usual suspects online were close but not as cheap as the germans. (In the end as an Ozber I ended up buying a 2nd hand set off Gumtree for way less than that, but I was blown away by the cheaper german prices.)

The only problem I have found with frugalroleur is that you need to get the search term exact. Sometimes the search engine doesn't find anything at Ribble or Merlin but when I go to the website I can find the item myself. Tried looking for a Hope Seat collar a few weeks ago, had this problem.

    • It's not actually frugalroleurs fault for the search terms, its how the websites list them.
I had a problem trying to find a specific kryptonite lock a while back, no standardization in naming between sites.

Its a bloody joke that if we try buying locally we are expected to pay 2x or 3x what you can find overseas.

I'm building a blank frame soon and comparing the imports versus locally is night and day (~$1,850 import vs $5,500+ local).

I don't want LBS to go out of business, but I don't favor getting ripped off just to support someone nearby…
