Hi All,

Just thought i'd put it out there that starting from Thursday 18/9 to Sunday 21/9, Dicksmith will have the following offers running (instore definitely, not sure about online):

danielh has also pointed out in the comments that:
"Don't forget the Dick Smith $15 back for $100+ purchase deal with AmEx issued cards." Here is the post!

Ones that stood out to me:

  • 20% off Itunes cards

  • 20% off Canon cameras (excl. already advertised)
  • 10% off Kindle, PSN and Xbox Live cards
  • $79 Seagate Expansion 1TB Hard Drive. Matches the lowest price on staticice.
Other deals running for that period:
  • Sony 50" KDL50W700B $999, Save $400. Just like this post last Sunday
  • $15 off every $100 spent on Samsung and LG TVs (excl. already discounted and clearance)
  • 30% off selected headphones (excl. Apple, Bose, Sennheiser, already advertised and clearance)
  • Up to 15% Pebble, selected SLR and Instax cameras

Unfortunately as much as I want to, I can't do anything r.e the Logitech UE Boombox eBay deal.

** I am a store rep, only in the instance that I am a store employee. If you have complaints or grievances, please direct your energy and attention to more worthwhile avenues of contact and resolution**

The only thing that I can think of (was going to post as separate deal, but can't seeing as i'm now affiliated), is if you can find a store with stock

Dicksmith will also be running the following 2 day offers from Saturday 20/9 to Sunday 21/9:
  • 25% off Bluetooth speakers, Soundbars and Home Theatre (excl. already advertised, clearance and Bose)
  • 15% off Asus Notebooks over $500
  • 30% Belkin Fitness

Cheers everyone!

Can we get a Logitech Boombox UE deal @ rep

    • +3

They will just cancel it anyway

    • As much as I wish I could, I can't. I am but a lowly employee!

However, there could be a way to get them for around $30 from Saturday, have updated the post. Please be aware not verified though!

        • +25

          @taggis:

Geez. Tough crowd. I tell you what, this is why I wish I didn't have to tick 'store rep' to just post some deals.

Let me make it clear. I am employed by Dicksmith, I deal with customers on a day to day basis at a store level, I don't work in head office or have any other avenues to the people further up the food chain that deal with eBay.

I posted this deal to give back to OzB for all the deals I have found, and I also posted a way to get the Logitech UE Boombox for possibly $30 because I felt bad for everyone that bought into the eBay deal.

Rest assured that the pains you all feel with the Dicksmith website, Dicksmith eBay, Head office and general business practices are supported and shared by some staff and they do try their hardest to draw attention to these issues.

If you would like to send a "Please explain", please keep me out of it, I've posted these deals in good faith, and not only do I like my job, and my customers, I need it.

        • +1

Rep, how do we get it for $30?

        • -4

          @CMichael:

Mate - nothing personal at all. I appreciate you posting the deals.

Unfortunately your comments help provide the proof I need to back my claim that the 'pricing error' story DSE is playing around the one-day "MEGA Deal" UE BoomBox bundles is completely false.

I will try not to lead my "Please explain" email with any screenshots, but if I am asked for proof I will supply it.

Also, should you face any disciplinary actions over your comments here, I believe that would constitute a serious breach of Employment Law on DSE's behalf.

After all, all you have done is confirm the last sale price of the item in question to be ~$40. That is an answer any store member would have provided to any querying member of the public. :)

The fact you've mentioned potentially further discounts this weekend (but I note - not confirmed them) is not something you should be punished for. It IS something that regulators could be extremely interested in though, given the current claim that a price error is why DSE will not be fulfilling the advertised "Mega Deal" bundles.

        • +2

          @taggis:

All i'm saying is you're spending a lot of time and energy for nothing.

Complain, lodge disputes, fair enough, but to say that because I saw it go last for ~$40 justifies your claim, is wrong.

I did state that last I checked, I now realise that was ambiguous, I should have included a date for you. Now that I think about it that could have been a price from a catalogue sale from the past, a spot sale or even a staff deal.

Now I acknowledge that mistake and apologise.

        • -4

          @CMichael:

You saying you saw it last go for $40 doesn't justify the claim, but it certainly justifies investigation of DSE sales records by a regulatory body with the intent of confirming the claim…

        • +3

          @taggis:

Alright, seeing as you won't let it go, I have looked into it further.

The $40 that i'm talking about, after talking to a colleague i'm almost positive now, was an exclusive staff only price limited to a small number.

I'm confirming that the instore price is $149. I can also confirm that this is no longer an active line (discontinued), and the stores that do have stock, will be ex display and marked for clearance.

I'm going to remove my assumptions from the original post and apologise for getting hopes up in regards to that.

I no longer will be responding to anymore conversation about that eBay deal on this page. It was a pricing error and anything relating to it should be on the posted deals page.

Carry on with your claim if you like, it's up to you, but this conversation is over.

        • @PPrem:

I have just confirmed it won't be possible to get it for $30.

        • deleted.

        • @CMichael:

He is just greedy imo…he's got a free headphone seriously what more can you ask for

      • +5

Then you need to make it clear to the powers that be, that there are many very unhappy people on here as a result of Dick Smith's blatant disregard for the Australian Consumer Law. This continued reference to the Dick Smith Terms and Conditions is potentially another breach of the Australian Consumer Law with regard to unconscionable conduct. Not to mention these Terms and Conditions in themselves appear to be in breach of the Australian Consumer Laws.

        • -3

          Exactly!

I'm WONDERING though, why so many negs from fellow Ozbargainers for my post about taking the screenshots to submit as evidence of the contradictory conduct from DSE here?

Don't people understand that if you're going to appeal or claim that a breach of Consumer Laws has or is occurring, that you need to supply proof? :-S

          <Shakes head…!>

        • @taggis:
You have every right to those goods.
When DSE took your money they became legally bound to honor the sale and supply the goods.

        • +3

          @Namesareapain:

On one hand yes, on the other hand no.

By taking my money and shipping part of the order they have entered into a contract to fulfil the entire order, and I should be entitled to the goods in that regards.
However if it was a legitimate price error though as claimed, I probably would not be.

What I'm trying to point out is that it is not a legitimate price error.

DSE advertised a one-day "MEGA Deal" for the (BoomBox + bonus headphones) bundle that was just $15 less than it's last sale price in-store. ($5 less after you factor in shipping). And they will potentially be selling the BoomBoxes for just $30 this weekend.

This shows there is no true 'price error' and their attempt to dishonour the "MEGA Deal" bundle by blaming it on a pricing error is completely false = blatant breach of ACL

        • +5

          @taggis:

I did say that if you can find a store with stock. Meaning there may actually be none!

Because it is just an assumption on how you could potentially save money, I would treat it as unconfirmed for now, therefore making the claim to a price error valid.

I've just read the original post for the eBay deal and it was stated that it may be a price error from the beginning.

Knowing this, you jumped in, taking a risk on the off chance you gain out of it. Now that you aren't and the error has been called, you're kicking up a storm stating ACL rights and buyer contracts where I know that Dicksmith have already covered themselves with their T&Cs.

While i'm not happy with how the situation is being handled, taking advantage of pricing errors will always come with a risk.

        • @taggis: I just love the fact you are implicating some anonymous person in your vendetta against DSE …..he ticked rep but who is he , surely we will need to find out if he really does work for DSE for his post to count as evidence……maybe Ozbargain will be requested to give up his IP address …. how bout it Ozbargain will you give up a deal poster..

        • @taggis: I see nothing in the ACL that states that they can somehow get out of honoring the contract if they made a mistake on the price, only that if there is a pricing mistake they can stop offering (in this case, remove it from the website or stop people from paying for it in there checkout system) goods for sale till they correct the price.

        • +2

@CMichael: The law overrides all "T&Cs"!

        • @CMichael:

Hi, I went to a Dicksmith store and I found that they had the UE Boombox and it was in stock. Unfortunately it wasn't on sale. Will it be on sale this Sat?

        • @CMichael:

        • @ugoagogo:
I agree it's EXTREMELY bad form.

@taggis - your dispute is against DSE and if you find they sell the same thing for close to what you were offered then you have a legitimate gripe. I'd be sending DSE mgt a complaint - not involving the OP - in any case.

        • +1

@Namesareapain: I think if you look hard enough you'll find examples. Retailers have to be protected from predatory consumers at times. Impossible for a business to correct anything until they become aware of it, meantime they could have a hundred orders. Plenty of opportunists will try to "rip the retailer off" but think nothing of sceaming at the top of their voices when they think they've been screwed. It's a two way street.

        • @Possumbly: especially with so many Professionals here

        • +1

@muncan: Lol. A classic example of what I was talking about on there. One poster claims it would have been "fairer" for whinger Gerry to fill the 300 orders but restrict everyone else. As the saying goes: if you think the deal is too good to be true then it almost certainly is. Easy enough to confirm in most cases but the "predators" invariably want to see what they can get out of it. Fair enough to test the waters? Maybe, but don't whinge about it when you're told no deal.

        • +2

This. Every time there is a price error, the greedy folks bet all their cash on it, and scream rape when they're told they're not entitled to get stuffs for almost free. If people want to report them to ACCC/fairtrading/King Solomon, please go ahead and just do that rather than mentioning it here repeatedly purely to intimidate the store rep.

        • +1

          @Namesareapain:
Retailer aren't obligated to give you anything due to a price error. Folks can keep dreaming that their crocodile tears will reap them rewards.

        • @payton:

Does it work the other way around if prices are set way above rrp?

      • edit: Have confirmed that this will not be possible.

  • Don't forget the Dick Smith $15 back for $100+ purchase deal with AmEx issued cards.

    • Thanks, will add it in!

80% Belkin WeMo baby monitor, soon to be free

    • +1

Not safe to monitor your baby according to reviews. Plenty of security issues and the whole world can see your baby. This should just be free, bundled with a pack of diapers or something and use it as a surveillance camera outside your house to make it useful.

      • +3

How can they see the baby when there's no camera?

        • +1

some weirdos out there like to hear babies crying

      • +1

yep… WeMo is CRAP! Anyone looking for a baby monitor, pls dont buy it.

Put the money towards a cheap IP camera with proper security and dont rely on Belkin crap.

      • Only audio, no video.

Security issues fixed according to this article:
        http://techcrunch.com/2014/02/19/belkin-fixes-wemo-vulnerabi…

Having said that, the one I bought with DSE sale recently I can't seem to get to talk to router with WPA2 password…

  • "20% off Canon cameras (excl. already advertised)". Wish it was a larger range, pretty much all entry levels.

    • hahah.. yeah.. like they're going to discount 1 or 5Ds hehe

      • +4

        Please allow me to dream…

    • where's the link for that?

    • Don't forget that Canon is running a cashback program at the moment! The 700D Dick is advertising Would come to $698 (though it would make more sense to buy from Digirect who are selling the single lens kit for $584 after cashback).

      • hmm it seems like the canon discount is 15% now not 20%? but how did you get $698? There are two that DSE is selling atm:

        • SLK - $848.30 which comes down to $721.05 and then $571.05 after cashback
        • TLK - $1,103.30 which comes down to $937.8 then $787.80 after cashback
  • +1

Not really much of a bargain. Put up something like the UE Boom deal before, then we might you give you a chance. :)

    • Well they're no longer honoring that one so not much chance.

Do u recogn they will give education pricing.

      Not with that education.

    • Best bet is to go and shop around at physical stores. Get prices and pitch them up against each other and let the salesman bundle you a deal that suits you.

    Need another PS4 Controller deal..

  • Folks, what's the cheapest aus psn or ps+ ever got?

    • Around $50. Like last year.

  • ILL TAKE THE SOUP

  • The Sony KDL50W700B is 100 Hz and I think will work with FreeviewPlus. The model 700B is listed as compatible but the 50 inch isn't listed on the FreeviewPlus site. http://www.freeview.com.au/freeviewplus/products-manufacture…

  • are the prices updated? eyeing the Energizer aaa rechargables

  • I don't know if I am just blind but do they have the wireless charging back cover for a G5? I only see this one on the site "SAMSUNG GS5 SView ChrgeCover W" and that seems to be permanently attached to a front cover (not to mention it's $90)..

  • website is so lame and broken.
try sorting on price -> get sent straight to the "Delivery Costs & Timeframes" page. try to set click & collect store -> "Delivery Costs & Timeframes", but no way to set store, blocked by stupid pop-ups when you type in a postcode.

    Order cancelled now

  • can we buy PSN cards online please?

    • Just doing a quick search and haven't come up with anything, in store for those offers!

  • how about 10% off the apple-time-capsule-2tb-dsau-xb1041

  • Rep.. what does this mean?

As much as I wish I could, I can't. I am but a lowly employee!

However, there could be a way to get them for around $30 from Saturday, have updated the post. Please be aware not verified though!

It will be $30 or not?

    • Unfortunately I can't edit that comment anymore.

I can confirm that it won't be possible to get it for $30 on Saturday or Sunday.

  • Rang my local store about the inks offer and they said it's buy 3 and get the 4th free (or in my case buy 4 and get 1 free). This is totally different to 30% off - there are better deals on genuine inks for 5 cartridge printers.

Please either confirm your claim "Buy 3 Canon and HP inks and toners to get 30% off (must be in one transaction)" or change the details.

    Thanks for the effort though.

    • Hey!

Sorry I missed your comment, it is still buy 3 inks/toners to get 30% off, but let me double check for you tomorrow morning.

      • Thanks. DSE owes you!

      • Any progress?

        • So sorry for the delay. Confirmed with my own store and others that it is indeed 30% off HP or Canon inks provided you have 3 in one transaction.

Not sure what the store you mentioned are on about, but this deal is definitely on!

  • -1

    Hi Rep.

Thanks for the post. Is there any way you can find out if the 65" Seiki TV that was on sale for $8xx was a pricing error, or if that was a discount that potentially might be repeated? I missed out, and really wanted a large display.

  • No love for eneloops

  • Hi Rep,

You mentioned 25% off soundbars. Is it all soundbars?

Im interested in this one but its showing full price.

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/soundbars/samsung-2-1-bluetooth-…

    • Hi there,

It should be all soundbars that are full price, not clearance or catalogue special.

That sale starts this weekend Saturday 20/9 and will run until 21/9, which is probably why you're still seeing it as full price.

      • How about an answer to my question above?

  • Be careful if buying memory cards off dick smith website.

The Cards prices are much higher than the description if checked on statice.

    Eg: http://www.dicksmith.com.au/memory-cards/sandisk-extreme-64g…

    Statice prices - http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Sandisk+Ext…

Many others dont fit description or normal retail prices.

    Let the buyer be aware.

  • Hi Rep,

You mentioned 'up to 50% off selected Logitech gaming'. I've had a look on the website, and there are a few 'Hot' sale items in the Logitech gaming section, but nothing close to 50%. Could this be an in-store only thing?

    Cheers.
