Chadstone VIC Teds - EOS6D Body. 10%off PLUS $100 "Trade in" stack. TODAY ONLY

20

Good afternoon people,

Just been to Teds chaddy for a VIP day. Got myself a EOS6d lay by at $1,999 less 10% off then less $100 "trade in" - its a given. Total cost $1,700. TRS and $200 Cash back I think it will become $1,345.

That's the deal. I am thinking if I can then use the Citibank Price Protection as I know this camera should be about $1,899 and not $1,999. Digidirect at Elizabeth Street I think Sells for $1,899. Could be wrong…

  • IMHO, it's not cheap at all. The cheapest I have seen is when JB Hifi has 15% discount and usually, the price is brought down to $14xx for this model. And JB Hifi does it quite often lately.

  • I noticed JB has a 15% camera off last week. However it excluded the Canon. I have thought of that. Plus that camera used to $1,899 at JB, now it is $1,999.

Someone said the cheapest net of TRS is $1250 or something. Not sure if I can get that within 60 days.

  • So $100 minimum trade in… can the trade in be any camera or specifically dslr… I wonder what would a canon 500D trade in price be?

    • Trade in an old film SLR :)

    • Hi Dustint,

I deliberately put in Quote Unquote "", into it because the actual deal is, the $100 is given to you whether or not you trade in or not.

If you choose to trade in, Teds will donate that camera and if the camera is not working, they will recycle it for you. That's the cool thing about it. I didn't trade in anything.

  • Just note that TRS item claim is maximum of $900 if you are returning to Australia. Whether or not you want to be honest about it is a different thing all together. I have before brought back things over $900 and no one has checked but once I did get questioned pretty severely and almost got charged duty.

    • Thanks for that. I got 2 kids' allowance which I can use.

But I will test what you guys have been saying (ie: Customs 'tagged' you at departure and then cornered you on the way back)

  • On reflection, I remember when I used to claim Guaranteed Pricing Scheme from Citibank for my Wii U which at the time was advertised 50% off at DSE (clearance). On that claim, I successfully got the money back and the Wii U Premium effective price became $219.

As you can see, the nominal price of this camera is now $1,799.

I remembered this camera at JB Hifi was $1,899. Now it is $1,999 (and I just checked an hour ago). They had a 15% camera last week but deliberately excluded Canon.

I am guessing once the $200 cashback is over, they may revert to the $1,899 pricing again. If they do, and then, if they then have a 15% between now and end of October 2014, then the price of that camera will become $1,614.15 ($1,899 less 15%).

If they do this, in the similar way as how I claimed for my Wii U, I think I could have a case to claim $184.85 ($1,799 less $1,614.15). This means my $1,345 (see above original post) I calculated will become an effective $1,160.15.

That would be a very attractive proposition.

Plus Ted's is offering free photo processing and free D-SLR classes (not that I am going to use it).
