  • yeah this is to combat the ps3 slim's new price

  • FINALLY!!!

Hope they drop the Arcade/Pro price as well!

  • Ah great now you tell me. just bought a console last week!

    • +1

      Return it ;P

  • They should have dropped the price more!

    $450 for Xbox 360

$500 for PS3 Slim - but PS3 slim has inbuilt wireless adapter, and blu-ray, and will also probably have games bundled with it.

I know the games selections are quite different from one to the other, but I'm just not sure 360 had the price dropped as much as it should!

    • I actually agree to this… the PS3 looks to have more value

$400 would've been better for microsoft, especially as it will be more attractive to prospective wii buyers.

    • The 360 price includes a proper game bundled..
Personally I'd never consider playing online via wireless, nor would I stream files (especially video) over Wireless..
The Blu-Ray is the only REAL bonus feature as far as I'm concerned and I don't have a HDTV so I don't care about it much either!

Ummm, how is this a bargain. It'll be the RRP!

We need to see some pricing under the RRP…like Fishpond's PS3 slim deal.

    Sorry for the negative…

    …No Deal! :D

  • It would be nice to see the Arcade at the $200 pricepoint like the recent MYER deal, you can pick up the Harddrives on overseas very cheap. I used to use my PS3 for blu-ray but now I have a LG Bluray player it does a way better job now it just collects dust. It just doesnt have the games I like or xboxlive.

This is actually a "bargain" to a certain extent because the promotion is "And if you buy an Elite up until October 20, you will also get a free copy of Halo 3: ODST". If this is not a bargain, then all manufacturer promotions should not be marked as a "bargain".

    • Good point…I guess if the OP had only put that as the primary reason for the post and have the price drop as extra info, then I probably would have voted +ve. :)

      • Technically that's for every single 360 Elite sold, so it's not even a bargain yet, because if anyone buys and Elite 360, they will all get Halo 3: ODST game!

        • Which then begs the question, should all promotions run directly by manufacturers be excluded from being a bargain? Since they are available to all resellers/retailers. e.g. The Xbox 360 accessory cashback promotion from a while back.

  • PS3 slim is nice, no doubt, I own 2 PS3's, a newish 80gb and a older 40gb model but to be honest I play my 360 way more than the PS3, the PS3's are used only for the odd exclusive game but mainly for blurays. I hacked my 360 as well, which is also a bonus [for me]

    • 2? Want to sell one?

      • would listen to offers on the 80gb model, it's only a couple of months old, the 40gb i have upgraded the hdd and have it stacked with psn games

        • $200? :D

          • @ShortyX: sorry i said offers not insults :P

            • @[Deactivated]: LOL…what about $300?

              • @ShortyX: 80gb models are making around $400 on fleabay without a game, I'll throw in a game [Uncharted: Drakes Fortune] and sell it for $390 to save the hassle. I can't do much better than that. It is virtually a new system mate, not even made put my gamer profile on it, it's just been in the bedroom for blurays and to be honest I only have a 22" LCD in there so it doesn't get used. I understand if you'd rather not though.

  • I would also get the PS3 over this if i was looking for consol gaming

But i ended up buying a Samsung BP-1600 for $375 with a LA55B650 55"LCD for $3600 (+free 22"TV) at JB i only play games on my PC so no consols for me! but bluray is awesome soooo much better then DVD.

  • Agreeing that this isn't a bargain but simply a ploy by Microsoft to combat Sony. As this price will effectively be available at every store, I don't see why it should even be posted.

  • perhaps mods can move this to the forums. Please

  • Other things to consider - apparently there will only be a composite cable included - no component or HDMI…

Also I heard they are getting rid of the 3 one month gold trials?

  • Agreed, Feels like OzBargain is starting to turn into a general informational site sometimes

  • ditto

  • Not going to give this a positive since it's not a bargain as such, but I really appreciate this being posted. I've been seriously considering getting a pro due to the bundles around at the moment but will definitely hold off due to this being posted. If I'd bought this and saw the new prices in a months time I'd be pretty annoyed.

So thanks, I appreciate this being posted :)

  • Yeah it's good they are dropping the price but this is by the manufacturer. Linking to kotaku would be like posting other bargain deal sites. Whilst informative, it's not a direct bargain.

Appreciate the price drop info though.

  • There are some really good deals atm

    Xbox 60GB + Halo wars + halo 3 for $400 @ HN/EB etc
    Xbox 60GB + halo wars + forza + halo 3 + halo (something) for $460…

I'm still going to hold off.
