Top deals, comments, forum posts, members of the month and other stats for August 2014

Another big month for OzBargain. 4 out of 5 of the most popular deals in August were from eBay. I suppose $4.26b in revenue is not enough for them. Better for OzBargainers I guess.

Members of the Month
  • ahly92 for posting the most popular freebie in August, Free USB/Lightning Cable from Kogam. Yes a Kogan offer that actually received the most votes (+1192) and most clicks (21k+) although the free cable won't be delivered until end of September.

  • tightarse for being the star of OzBargain again this month with his amazing stats — 54 deals posted, 50 of them got onto front page, average +113 votes, 345 comments (less than 1/2 of how many jv has posted, but still great achievement) and 7 competitions.

Almost 22% safari traffic thanks to ebay and kogan macbook deals :p

PS: How much did safari traffic increase?

    • +1

Do note that "Safari" also counts the iPhone and iPad traffic (assume they are not using alternate browser on those devices). At the same time there are also Chrome / Firefox users on Mac. Here's the state of all the sessions by the operating system (according to Analytics):

      • Windows — 51%
      • iOS — 21%
      • Android — 16%
      • MacOS — 10%
      • Linux — 1%
      • Others (Windows Phone, BlackBerry, ChromeOS, Symbian, etc) — 1%

    Any prizes for the winners?

  • Thanks for info Neil.

Didn't expect Apple browser market share to be so high or close to Windows.

  • I was initially shocked that 8.05% of users still browsed using Internet Explorer. Then I realised that I'm on ozbargain while at work and using our only browser, Internet Explorer. Doh!

JV posts more than 20 comments a day on average. Got much time on your hands mate?

  • Not quite the end of the month but i'd be interested to see some of the stats on the ebay deal the past few days if they are available.

    • 14594 clicks through to eBay.
      212,674 pageviews.
It's the 7th most popular page in the past 30 days.

We managed to take down Cashrewards site. I'm curious to know how much cashback they are tracking for this promotion.

Oh boy. I think you'll need to find me a free SQL Udemy deal for some of those.

      • Haha! I'll try. I could easily come up with more. Love stats :)

I'll try to add some of these to the scripts I run to determine the monthly awards winners.

    • Scott pulled a lot of stats which are now in a new post.

The only 2 on the list we didn't pull was

      • Number of users placed in penalty box
      • Number of 1st time posters

I'll see if we can get those for next month. Sorry my brain is fried running queries and formatting. Mostly the formatting. This site is my savior.
