Hoover Handivac Wet & Dry 9.6v $34.50 @ Godfreys

21

I saw this one on sale again at Godfreys today. I bought this one about year ago and really happy with it.

It is not a very powerful vacuum but it is good enough to clean kitchen tables and quick car-cleanup and easy to use.

Last time I posted this deal was $5.50 cheaper.

Cheapest one I can find is around $60.

  • Probably similar to this Aldi on for $25?

    • Yes. Could be even better.

I'm surprised to hear you are happy with yours OP. Perhap you use it 1-2x a day in which case it wouldn't be so bad

My one the battery was awful. Even from new it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 3-4 days. Go to use it - dead flat!
Godfreys refused to take it back, saying that was how it was designed and it had to be kept charging 24/7. This would be fine if it was a smart charger but it isn't, it just keeps going and power is just wasted heating up the charger which gets very hot.

New from full charge battery lasted about 10 mins which was reasonable. 1 year later is at about 5mins

bonus neg for the aftersales - exceptional bad attitude from the godfreys salesguy. If the vac sucked as much as he did I would have been so happy.

Yes you are right. I use it average twice a day and it is always plugged charging.
I don't really use it for more than 5min continuously.

As I said it is good for quick and small stuff.

Got this free with a Vacuum Cleaner (Hoover Rush) a few years ago…
I just use it every now and then (not for wet stuff) and it still works well.

However, don't expect very good support from Hoover if it stuffs up.
My Vacuum Cleaner poles/hoses stuffed up and I could not get replacement parts (NOT AVAILABLE).

    GO HOOVER :(

  • These things are horrible:
    1. It uses NiCd batteries which last very short time. They did not even bother upgrading to NiMh…
    2. Has to be on charge all the time. Waste of power.
    3. It sucks… or better said it does not.

Initially I replaced its crappy batteries with 6 Eneloops which improved things quite a bit. However, it was a pain to disassemble it every time I needed to charge the batteries so it ended up in the bin.

Eventually I got the Ryobi One+ 18V Cordless Hand Vacuum for $39 from Bunnings. I already had a battery from a line trimmer.
    http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-hand-vacuu…
It is MUCH more powerful and the battery lasts for ages. It is quite loud though.

So, if you already have a Ryobi One+ battery, get a Ryobi Hand Vac for $5 more.

  • I bought a Kambrook 12V Nimh (Coles) and it goes for about 15-20mins on a full charge. Book says to charge it 24hr on the first charge then recharge only takes 1-2hr. It's not bad, a little noisy and flimsy attachment but otherwise does the job. I think most of these portable vacs will do 20min MAX.

  • So which vacuum is good for car? Don't mind spend$100+ as it's pointless get cheap stuff and then throw it away after just few months and not happy

    • if it doesn't have to be cordless…then we got one of these, small, portable, long power cord & it actually picks up dirt, unlike most cordless one.

But if you need cordless, then 24v ones have the best suction by far.

  • Wet and dry vacumnie thingie.

Have I got a use for you.

    Where?

In the bath of course, you little sucker!
