50% off BBQs in BBQ Category on eBay (Sunday - 31/8)

4520
CSIZZLE50

Looks like anything listed as a 'BBQ' under the BBQ category will be entitled to a 50% off discount this sunday! (Max $250 discount)

"The offer entitles you to a 50% discount off the total purchase price (excluding postage) of BBQs in the BBQs category on www.ebay.com.au purchased during the Offer Period."

Hopefully we see some other stuff listed in the category too (assuming that works).

WARNING:
eBay have just added this line to their T's and C's:

eBay reserves the right to disallow or reverse a discount in circumstances where it believes a sale or purchase of any BBQ or other item as part of this sale has not been made in good faith. This includes any collusive conduct by buyers or sellers or any other conduct which eBay considers to be unfair or untoward.

(Thanks JDF)
Be wary of buying items that aren't BBQ's in the category with the discount!

Regardless, anyone after a BBQ should check out eBay this sunday!

  • 1 transaction only (per account)
  • Multiple items per transaction allowed
  • $250 max discount ($500 spend)
  • Must pay with PayPal
  • Must purchase during the offer period (Sunday)

Mod Warning: Please do not post your own eBay listings in this thread. Such comments will be unpublished, the commenter will be banned from participating in the thread and account penalties may apply. Use the classifieds instead for personal items.

It will be released at 10am on Sunday.

    • edit

  • I am guessing postage for a BBQ will be very expensive and not included in the 50% off.

    • +2

Go for the ones with pickup. Postage is not included.

The offer entitles you to a 50% discount off the total purchase price (excluding postage) of BBQs in the BBQs category on www.ebay.com.au purchased during the Offer Period.

  • Postage no too bad in the bigger picture. Knock off $50 or so still saving $200 :)

  • +1

now to find a ring burner suitable for home brew that runs off natural gas within the BBQ section ;)

    • +8

Nandos do a good ring burner.

  • What do they mean my multiple purchases per transaction? If I buy two different items, how do I pay for it in one transaction?

    • +3

      Use the cart

  • Shame there are no Zeigler and Brown BBQs listed on eBay :(

  • +3

The terms (3) specifies that the deal refers to "BBQs in the BBQ category". Take note when you're buying your item that it is in fact a BBQ. I assume that with these terms they could choose not to honour firepits, gas bottles, bbq covers and other BBQ related stuff that isn't a BBQ.

It is anything in the BBQ category so covers etc should be fine

      • +5

It says "BBQs in the BBQ category" where are you getting the wording "anything" from?

        • No I misread it. Anything listed as BBQ!

    • +1

      T&Cs
      8. To redeem this offer, enter the redemption code into the redemption code box during the checkout process. You must be an eBay.com.au registered member.

Anyone know what the redemption code is?

Usually released on the Sunday, around 10am, would be on the banners on the ebay site, and OP will update it here too, so check back closer to the date!

      • Usually pops up at 10am via email and on the site

  • +2

    There goes my sunday.

  • Give it until Monday morning before people start selling Weber Q200's @ $275 to cash in on the deal.

  • Tested a listing for PS4, it won't come up when you search for it. You have to really go through the BBQ section and hope that you'll find something other than a BBQ. :)

    • have u tested it with PS4 with BBQ in the listing title? might help

    • +2

It can take an hour or two for listing to come up from the search in my experience.

  • +2

Ok, which weber is the best. I have had a look and they look the same but different model numbers and prices. What's my best buy pick up or delivery to Melborune?

    • I would very much like to know this as well!

    • It depends on what you want out of your bbq. Start by deciding whether you want it to be fuelled by propane gas (convenience) or charcoal/wood (flavour). If the former pick the q family, the latter the one touch kettles.

  • +1

I wonder if they'll jack up the prices - looks at DSE :)

    Good find OP :)

    • thats what I am thinking.
People should find what they want now and check back sunday to see if it is actually a deal.

  • -8

It is possible to make some profit from it if have a different PayPal/ebay account selling one bbq to the other account …(never sold stuff on ebay but I think it may work ?) . For example list one bbq for 500$ then buy it with the discount for 250$ but the buyer will receive 500$ or maybe less with ebay/PayPal fees but still more than 400$ I think… :x

  • +1

Can anyone recommend a Spit Rotisserie that wont struggle to turn a small lamb?

  • I have a Q200 and want to upgrade to Q3xx. What is the best strategy to upgrade using this sale?

    • +2

find a Q3xx and hit the "buy it now" button during the sale.

Don't forget to add the coupon code when checking out!

    • +3

Sell your old Q200 on sunday I guess? Chances are people will pay more for it if they are getting 50% off from ebay.

      • +4

Sounds like I'm buying and selling this Sunday.

        • +1

or ending up with two BBQs.

        • +2

          @PVA:
          Or none!

        • -1

          Upgrading anything is a PITA.

  • +1

Wording states "BBQs in the BBQs catagory". I dont understand all the comments in this thread about other items

  • Is there really anything stopping me from selling my BBQ to a mate for $500 and then them selling it back?

    • Never mind

      • I was just curious because reading the conditions doesn't seem so.

    • +2

I was thinking the exact same thing!
What happens if I sell my mate a used BBQ for $500 pickup and he sells me his for $500 pickup?
Do we both get paid $500 and charged $250?
Seems like a great way to both profiting ~$250 each (yes, there are eBay fees to consider)

      • Wonder if this would work

        • +6

          hush hush everyone

  • Just a reminder to commentors - please refrain from advertising your own eBay listings in this thread. Use classifieds instead.

I do get a little worried about all iphone/ipad/ps4 talk when it comes to these deals. These are genuinely good deals for many people, and if ebay decide the people selling phones as BBQ's or Toys are ruining their deals, they'll probably just stop doing the deals, which = no more genuine ebay deals.

    • EBay are doing these deals in an attempt to win back customers that are leaving in droves to aliexpress, baobao, and the tens of popular dropshipping sites. Frankly, the sooner eBay/paypal go under the better for all buyers and sellers alike

      • Not really

      • Agree with apate - once a great, useful and unique marketplace, eBay has now lost most of that, plus fees bordering on crazy on a % basis. The only remaining competitive advantage they have - which is rapidly being eroded as people take to other sites like those mentioned above - is product range and depth. Think they can't go under, and be blown away by a later arrival? MySpace anyone?

But I'll still be spending some time in their BBQ section thus Sunday :)

    • I wouldn't be surprised if it's considered fraud anyway, especially people talking about selling to a mate.

  • +1

I think I want to get one of these, just to scare my dinner guests.
    Fat Boy Marinade Injector

    • +2

      Hot beef injection!

    • +1

Injectors are really good but you can buy a decent one for $15-20 at some kitchen shops.

  • There arnt any duck burners in this category, probably the only thing I would buy ATM.

Maybe a lager smoker, something 2 tier + or one that can do 7+ kg at one time

    • +2

      What a Duck Burner????

  • -7

Do you have to purchase & pay on Sunday or can you purchase sunday/pay monday?

  • Lol, hope we got Kogan posting phones under BBQ :D

  • Would love for some BBQ accessories to make it into this sale

  • zomgwtfbbq!

  • -3

Seriously, can you list PS4 on a BBQ category?

  • any recommendations on some bluetooth thermometer ?
    any links to eBay?

  • Anyone interested in buying my Nexus BBQ 5?

  • +10

While strolling through my eBay search - feeling like a king knowing 50% off is imminent… I came across this ebay listing (not mine - not promoting)

I laughed/cried when I saw the listing having a picture of the BBQ, on a web-browser, taken by a camera.

    • me too, thanks!

    • +1

Also worth noting that it looks like Internet Explorer 8. Humanity has failed.

  • I'll be on the look out for a pizza oven bbq.

  • I wonder if eBay will be watching Kogan's listings more closely this time after Kogan listed a whole bunch of phones as "toys" during that sale, which were eventually moved back into the phone category after around 12 hours.

  • +1

Was looking for a bargain on those barrel type Tandoor oven ( like these http://www.tandoorliving.com.au/Tandoor-clay-oven-cooking-ho… ) but haven't found one yet :/

  • +1

if someone lists an BBQ xbone with kinect and titan fall for around the $500 mark, I could be interested in buying it…..

  • +1

What's stopping you listing a BBQ fork for $500 and getting your partner to buy it immediately?

  • -1

Can't find any Weber natural gas bbqs. Fail.

  • +4

Most of the bbqs are in the outdoor living category and not the BBQ category, will have to be careful of that one on Sunday

    • +1

This is incredibly relevant. Can someone add to the top description?

    • +2

huh? bbq is a sub-category of outdoor living and most bbqs seem to be within it?

      BBQs in the BBQs category

  • +1

I've never ever thought about buying a weber before but guess what I'm thinking about buying now!

    • +2

      me too :)

  • Might see if there are any decent wood fired pizza ovens! Yummy :)

  • +1

Cant seem to find the Weber Q2200AU… hmmm

    • consider q220 its predecessor? :)

  • I wonder if you can get someone to setup a fake ad as buy it now then buy it then reap the profits?

  • +3

Gonna sell tickets to the 'BBQ' at my place this Sunday. Tickets are $500 - but guests will receive $300 on arrival + have all they can eat and drink.

  • What is the redemption code? I'm worried I commit to buy, but the vice fails on PayPal.

  • Some noob has listed the set of diecast cars which were $5 delivered in the HN deal for $25 in the BBQ category. Bet it's an Ozbargainer…

  • Can't find the Weber Q1200AU…

  • +2

I've got a brand new Weber Q220 I want to sell, great timing!

  • +5
  • boom

  • +5

I think this will end up being a bit of a fizzer unless you are legitimately getting an actual BBQ, all these other crazy schemes of selling phones and PS4's etc will probably all end in tears as there is bound to be a killjoy who goes through and reports the suspect sales to ebay and they all get cancelled when they are obviously not a legitimate BBQ offer.

Of all the nonsense in this thread, the only part of it that may slip through the cracks and work will be selling BBQ's backwards and forwards between friends as someone else mentioned but i think the number of people doing this will be fairly limited. People viewing the sale are going to be disappointed if they come looking for non-BBQ's on the day as I think it will end up being fairly well monitored and all but the most well disguised of sales will get knocked on the head as a minimum, with potentially more serious consequences to people's accounts for the more blatantly stupid.

    • Not really if you are selling a bbq that includes those non-vbq stuffs! Maybe a gift card to buy a bbq stuff and add on another non-bbq

  • -4

I can't find BBQs locally so I've been trying to figure out some other way to get in on this. Anyone see any flaws with this plan?

    • Join Club BCF (free registration)
    • Buy Weber Q (Q2000) LP BBQ for membership price of $350.10 and pickup from store.
    • List on eBay for $500.
    • Give friend $250 to 'buy it' from you.
    • Deduct PayPal and eBay fees from the $500 payment.

    PayPal fees: $12.30 (2.4% + $0.30)
    eBay fees: $49.50 (9.9%)

    • Should now be left left with $438.20 in PayPal account after having spent $600.10

    $600.10 - $438.20 = $161.90

Could even cancel the transaction within 45 days and get eBay fees credited back making the final price of the BBQ $112.40 :D

    • why don't you just sell 'bbq flavoured' air to an imaginary friend without going through the hassle of buying and selling weber…

      • Unfortunately I don't know how to cook sausages with BBQ flavoured air :(

    • +2

      Or would this work:
      1. List fictional BBQ you dont own for $500 on 'parents' ebay account.
      2. Purchase fictional BBQ with $250 on your own account.
      3. List fictional BBQ you dont own for $500 on your own ebay account.
      4. Purchase fictional BBQ with $250 on your 'parents' account.
      5. Withdraw cash from both paypal =~$887(from $500 outlay)
      6. Join Club BCF
      7. Buy Weber Q (Q2000) LP BBQ for $350.10.
      8. Enjoy =~$37 profit and new Weber BBQ.
Alternatively buy this(http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-MODEL-Bbq-Lp-Q2000-Weber-Q-/1…) on another ebay account for $205 on Sunday and make even more money.
A bit of effort and time, but worth it I would think if you can pull it off.

  • +4

Anyone thought about setting up a dropshipping post? Just sell say a weber q on Sunday for retail + $50, then use masters.com.au to deliver it directly to the customer pocketing the difference?

    • only problem is it costs more than $50 in listing fees, so you will be losing money.

    • R u Tom? Registered on 28th and the only post you hv is this, on 28th as well.

  • Can anyone advise on following.

    Conditions say:

    "1 transaction only (per account)
    Multiple items per transaction allowed"

How do you do multiple items in one transaction? the only way I can think of is to buy quantity more than 1 for any one item. Can two or more items be done in one transaction??

    • +3

eBay has a shopping cart nowadays (like a normal online store) so you can add multiple items to your cart and then checkout.
