    Is this a grey import?

Is this covered by australian two years warranty? Can't find anything bout warranty in the fine print

    Thanks

    • Just confirmed with them that the Warranty is 1 year and accepted in Australia at Apple store. So not bad at all

  • does the cashrewards cash back also stack with this to get you another 8% off?

Wouldn't Kogan iPad Air for $399 better value?

    • That has 16gb storage

      • but it's the fu8ll size ipad and who needs more storage now days anyway
i stream all my music and movies. 16gb is plenty

        • Who need bigger size ipad now days?

        • People who buy the $1k Surface 3

    • It is for me, but this is ok for a mini with a bit more storage.

    • I've gone for this deal over the Kogan Air one, because only having 16GB with the Air would eventually drive me nuts, and I prefer the smaller form factor of the Mini. They both retail for $598 through Apple so the other deal is obviously a bit more of a discount, but if the 8% CashRewards cash back with Livingsocial works then the difference becomes negligible.

The next gen ipad mini 3 and ipad air 2 is coming very soon, hence these are being flocked off at such prices.

Next gen Ipad air 2 and mini 3 would have finger print sensor plus 2Gb RAM, some even suggest starting at 32GB as 16GB is too little.

This is most likely parallel import

    • That is what Apple wants in the first place for iPod touch but ended up base model price is too high to begin with and Apple has to launch a 16gb model months later.

    • +1

I doubt that has anything to do with it. Grey import in at least one case- hence low price.

      • apple has been known to control their prices strictly via various sources, one is lucky to get imports at 200 off if these devices are at its haydays during ipad 2 / 3 era.

The fact is, the current gen devices are not selling that well, a lot of production overloads exists, stock that should have SOLD in likes of Asia aint selling, so Apple has to source them elsewhere…

hot on the heels are the next gen, hence they had to try push as many device as possible before they land on October.

  • What's the resolution of retina screens? Is it full HD, 4K, what?

    • 2048x1536 for retina iPads to date. i.e., more than Full HD, and much less than 4K.

    • +1

      LOL @ 4K tablet

    • ipad mini with Retina display = 1536 x 2048 pixels (324 ppi)
      iPad Air = 1536 x 2048 pixels (264 ppi)
      Macbook Pro 13 with Retina display = 2560 x 1600 pixels (227 ppi)
      Macbook Pro 15 with Retina display = 2880 x 1800 pixels (221 ppi)

Retina is just a marketing term.

      • As is 4K (3840 x 2160)

  • What does this normally retail for around in diff shops?

  • Not active anymore.

Got email from Cashrewards confirming 8% cash back which has brought it down to $394.63 delivered, great result, thanks OP!

  • Sorry, I tried several times via PC / iphone to hit the buy or add to cart button online, it seems not responding. Anyone has similar problems ? Thanks

    • After a restart and refresh, it works for me. Thanks.

  • Damn can't resist with $378.95 + cashback…XD

  • Great deal. Anyone had their shipped yet?

  • Just watch out, looks like they've updated the description to 'Standard Display', previously it was Retina Display. But they've missed updating the other specs like A7 processor etc.

Did they sneak a change in there because it was advertised incorrectly at the first place. What about the buyers that bought it?

    • Yeah noticed this as well. A little suspicious. I ordered one yesterday, then a couple of hours later it was marked out of stock, then later when checking the status of my order I noticed even though it still says retina display in my order, the link goes to the standard display page.

Edit: my order history now says standard display! Going to cancel.

      • If they claim the product page never specified 'Retina' when you demand a refund, ask them to please explain their URL:

        https://www.livingsocial.com/products/australia/tag/gifts-gadgets/94900-apple-32gb-ipad-mini-with-retina-display

        • I just called their support centre and they acknowledged the discrepancy. However, they said it will take up to 5 days to confirm that this was a mistake with the listing before they can offer a refund. The plot thickens slightly in that my order has been updated with a new URL for the item: https://www.livingsocial.com/products/94900-apple-ipad-mini-…, which doesn't even exist. It still says "Retina Display" at the top of my order, but "Standard Display" in the order detail. Does not instil a lot of confidence.

Has anyone above had any progress with their orders? Surely someone must have some more info.

      • Mate just tried cancel his order, they rejected it and said no refund / cancellation policy for this item. What a joke. This is starting to look like it could turn bad.

        • Yes I kind of got that as well "Normally we don't refund on 'final sale' items" (what?) "in this case it does look like an issue with the listing, but I will still need to confirm it was an incorrect order, which will take approx 5 days".

One way or another they will have to refund. I paid with paypal and would lodge a SNAD in due course if they don't do so. Lesson learned here I think. I think I will just buy one at retail, and if by some Act of Divine Intervention, I just happen to receive a 32gb model at "too good to be true" pricing, I'll sell it right away :)

It's worth taking some screenshots of your order and their product pages showing the discrepancy just to have the information at hand if needed.

        • @wasabinator:
Very sneaky, they reckon 5 days to investigate, but they have promptly updated their advertisement now with A5 processor whereas previously they updated it to 'Standard Display' but forgot to update the cpu specs. They are very efficient there.

Yep start chasing for your $$ for those that ordered, I reckon they will send you the ipad mini 1 and argue thats what their listing show. You will have to argue and fight for a refund. Dodgy strategy, cause some people might just leave it.

Anyone took a screenprint of their original listing, google cache has it, if you haven't.

        • @cj2000
Do you have the url of the cached copy? I can't seem to locate it. Thanks.

        • @wasabinator:
Not showing up in google anyou're, wtf. They can't control google caching, gees plot is certainly thicken.

      • Just called them, they said they are talking to "seller", will see whether they can "HONOUR" the deal, and get back to me around Monday. So they messed up the deal big time! Hope I can get a refund soon if they can't make it…

        • Yeah, I sincerely doubt they will honour the deal given that they consider it is somehow their right to deny refunds.

  • Received an email from them this morning. Not happy, and didn't contact then… Coped below:

    "Thanks for contacting us.

    Hi ojm,

Thanks again for visiting our site and placing an order for the iPad Minis deal we had running. Unfortunately, we've uncovered an issue with the description of the iPad Minis that were supplied to us.

You may or may not have noticed, but the details we had listed for this deal stated the iPad on sale was the Retina model, when it is actually the standard 32 GB iPad Mini.

We wanted to personally make you aware of this correction and as a result confirm whether or not you would still like to proceed with your order? Please let us know no later than the end of the business day on Monday, 1 September 2014. Thanks!

If you still have questions, please reply to this email. We're happy to help.

    Thanks for LivingSocial!"

How is this even a deal anymore? Can get a 16GB iPad Mini from Apple for $349.

It's your classic bait & switch.

      ACCC much?

      • +1

Yeah but pricing error excuse kicks bait & switch a$$ anytime without a problem.

    • +1

I got this as well and surprisingly opted to cancel ;)

EDIT: They refunded by PayPal less than 10 mins from the time I replied. Not bad ending at least.

EDIT 2: PayPal says funds temporarily on hold. They'll surely clear it in a couple of days though.

  • +1

I just received a call from them, they told me it's their mistake for listing it incorrectly on their website. They want to know if I still want the purchase if it's the first gen. I say no and she said will refund my money straight away. Let's see.

Can we ask them to honour it? Hehe
