  • Hope it worked for me. My secondary email address worked :)

  • +1

I got the email but when I try to register it saids already registered…

  • special thanks to huythanhv2

  • +1

This will definitely not go through for existing customers.

  • +1

I register. Says success but never got an email with the code

  • I just read the fees document and correct me if I'm wrong but it says you get paid a bonus 50 cents if you get cash out at any Eftpos terminal (e.g supermarket) of $200 or more!!

    • +1

yes, I do it all the time, instead of the ATM.

  • So its about $40-$50 free money after tax.

    SUCCESS!! for me.

    • +1

Well, if you declare it as earned income, and you paid 46% tax would leave you with $40 or if you paid 33% tax you'd be left with $50.
Most people pay far less tax than that.

However, if you consider it a lottery win, as it seems a roll of the dice as to whether you'll receive $75 or not, it could be considered tax free winings.

It is definitely not earned interest on your money - it's more likely a lucky strike, much like finding a $2 coin on the street, but you found $75 thru OzBargain, your Honour.

      • As an ING bonus veteran I can assure you that bonus payments do contribute to your taxable income.

        • +1

If I remember correctly, I sent a message to them about the Paywave bonus, and was told that no, I do not have to declare it as taxable income.

People could try messaging them, themselves (so they have a message to keep for tax purposes)

      • While it's not interest in the traditional sense of the word, it's definitely income. The bonus $30 I received from them a few years ago was included as interest income on my ATO prefill. I would say the ATO classify it as bonus interest. Or, it could be included at Item 24 on the tax return as other income.

        • +1

          But isn't it Cash Back?
So your saying if I buy a microwave, and they offer $50 cash back, I have to claim that as income? I don't think so.
Cash Back is money you have paid, and got back. I don't classify that as income, I didn't earn it.

        • +1

@ValTrum: see under Important Information on the deal page:

A tax liability may exist with the payment of the bonus payment.

It matters how they classify the bonus payment, not how you classify it.

        • @muncan: It also matters that they get that classification right!

        • +1

@ValTrum: You're getting a microwave at a $50 discount. You are still paying money for the microwave, you're just getting it at a discount. ING are giving away bonus interest on cash deposited into the account. You can classify it any way you like, the ATO classify it as interest income. You are investing $1000 with ING, they are paying you $75. That's investment income. The ATO tax most forms of passive investment income, which is income not earned from personal exertion.

  • Sorry, just to clarify, after i enter my details (and get the confirmation on screen) i now sign up as a new customer (yes, i am a real new customer) or do i wait for some special code via email?… I don't want to do this wrong!

    • +2

It's all about your email address (my ISP allows me 1000)
First you register with your email address and mobile number you want to use to communicate with ING with.
ING contact you through post, email and SMS txt messages.
If they cant contact you, they cant pay you.

You may (probably being a new customer) or may not recieve an email with a code from them.

Then when you actually open an account using your same email address & phone number, they will join the dots and put $75 into your account per the terms.
To open an account, you will be required to prove your identity - like opening a new account at any financial institution. This will require you to go to the post office and have your drivers licence or passport or other photo id verified. The PO will contact ING electronically confirming your ID and a few days later ING will confirm your new account opened and post you a plastic card, etc.

Thing is - it's not instantaneous.

How is this not a dupe/updated version of https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/156176

    • -1

      Yep we've all been duped!

    • That ones for new customers

  • "Sorry, the email address you have entered has already been registered. "
So nope, not working for me as I am already a customer and registered previously.

  • Thankfully I had an ING Savings Maximiser account from when they first started in Australia, so I didn't need to go through the process of opening a "new" account (what with all the ID checks and all) when I opened an Orange Everyday and signed up for this afterwards. It was all relatively painless.

  • So if this deal is only for "new Orange Everyday customers" as is stated in the T&Cs then what do ING define as a "new" customer?

    • Don't ask us, ask ING.

    • A new customer is one who registers FIRST for this deal, and then uses the same email address and phone number to open an account AFTER registering for this deal.

  • +2

rang ING earlier today and they said no need to leave the $1000 in the account, you can withdraw it or spend it immediately. they also said they would commence paying out the $75 bonus on 10 September. hope this helps some of you.

    • +1

Did you ask them if it's for old users or only new ones?

      • Hmm, well I am an existing OE account owner and I got a personalised email regarding this offer on 21/8/14. So I assume it's for existing as well.

      • i didn't think to ask about existing customers, since i have never done business with ING before. they did ask me if i had any other accounts or business with ING though.. so perhaps they were going to tell me i wasn't eligible if had already taken advantage of another offer? seems a bit vague. time will tell i guess.

    • -1

So a family or group of friends could just rotate the $1000 through everyone's account…nice! :-)

  • Thanks op :-)

  • Yay! Free moolah! shuffles fingers

  • says my details already registered?

    • Try different details

      • but they're the details of my everyday account, it seems peeps here are using there everyday account details?

        • Try this with a different email

        • @muncan:

Do they really allow one identifiable person to have as many accounts as they have email addresses?

Has anyone confirmed that the bonus is paid to these?

        • @Scrooge McDuck: yes, the sky is the limit regarding the number of accounts you can apply for. There's no guarantee they'll all get bonus payments, but it's certainly been done before.

        • @muncan:
But didn't ING amend their system sometime between then and now to consolidate multiple accounts into a single Client Number?

Do you have multiple Client Numbers?

        • @Scrooge McDuck: I do, but you may be right. Time will tell re: this deal.

        • +1

          @muncan:

          thanks

  • Hmmm well I'd imagine ING would be doing something to cross reference account applications as they're pretty clear that an individual can only receive the $75 once - so I say fair play to them.

That said I can't see any reason why you can't have 2 accounts (which is ING policy) and apply for the $75 for one and the $250 Iconic voucher on the other. Nothing seems to contravene doing this.

    • -1

In the fine print it does mention the following so I think it's one promotion or the other not both.
This $75 bonus payment offer is not available in conjunction with any other promotional offer.

      • I agree you couldn't get both promotions on the ONE Advantage saver account but you can open 2 accounts (which is fine for a single person under ING rules) and get one promo on EACH account - then close the account you don't want AFTER getting the promo benefits. Nothing against that in any of the rules etc. :-)

  • is there an annual fee or monthly fees?

  • do you have to keep the $1000 in the account or can you withdraw it straight away?

    • As per here you may withdraw anytime.

  • Hey guys, I'm new to this whole thing and I can't seem to transfer to ING because my account number has 10 digits.

How many should I have? Should I remove any zeroes at the front?

    Cheers!

    • +1

Accounts numbers have a max of 9 digits. Ignore any leading zeroes (Also any dashes or spaces)

  • Thanks OP,

I'm already a member, so it will be interesting to see if they will do it.

    cheers,

  • -1

You have to be a NEW Orange Everyday customer, if you already have an Orange Everyday account then forget registering as you will not receive the $75

    • +1

In my opinion, that is incorrect.

I received a personalised email on 21/08, subject "Dale, get paid for getting paid!"

      "Hi Dale,

Did you know you could get paid, just for getting paid?

If you deposit $1,000 or more each month (like your salary) into your Orange Everyday account, we'll give you FREE use of every ATM in Australia.

To get you started, we'll give you a one off $75 bonus payment after your first deposit of $1,000 is made.

      Here's how it works:

      • Simply register at ingdirect.com.au/75bonus by 10 October 2014

      • Make your first deposit of $1,000 before 31 October 2014

      • We will pay your $75 bonus in the month following your first deposit"

I've been with ING for a while, so I dont believe its just for new customers…

  • I registered but i never received an email or anything.

  • got the acc open on 16.8 n deposit $1000 24.8 .
    Did not receive $75 yet.

  • I haven't received either deal ($75 or the $250 Iconic gift card) same with a friend.

    Email does say ->
"Get shopping - We will be emailing Gift Cards monthly from early June with final delivery by 8 September 2014"

So I guess we wait until the 8th of SEPT.

The Iconic have sent an email for another $100 voucher if you register for a commbank credit card.
    https://www.commbank.com.au/personal/credit-cards/credit-car…
But I noticed the annual fee of $78.. so I guess it's not worth it.

  • +1

I had a dormant account with ING and received the email.

Deposited the funds into my OE account. Couldn't move the money because the accounts I had were in dormant status. Had to ring them up.

Initially they said the $75 bonus only applied to new customers… but there is also supposed to be a separate promotion where it was for existing customers… so in this case, it applied to me. I suspect if you received an email regarding the promotion, as an existing customer, you will be entitled to the $75 bonus. But if you didn't, then probably not.

Unfortunately I've never been able to benefit from the 5% rebate on ING paywave transactions… because my ATM card never had the paywave chip. :( So, only the 2% rebate applies, subject to depositing $1,000 in the OE account every month.

  • Does anyone know whether the $1000 deposit has to be made in a one off transaction or can it be made up of multiple transactions?

  • -1

I got email for $75 bonus - refer to friend. NEW account only. Please PM me if anyone new wants to join and receive $75 bonus. I'll give you a code.

  • Has anyone received the $75 yet?

    • +1

      Not yet…

    • not yet

    • I was told 10th September, if you made your deposit before 31/8/2014.

      • good news:)hope so

      • No monies yet. Made my deposit before 31/8 and I'm an actual new customer.

      • I haven't got it yet… will ring them later today. :/

        • +3

Just called them. The lady I spoke to said that she read the Ts & Cs as the bonus will be paid the month following the qualifying $1,000 deposit, and not 10 Sept as the guy I spoke to had said. So… here's to another waiting game. :/

  • I am a new ING customer. I have just submitted the 75 promotion after i opened the account. Am I also eligible for the promotion?

I should have registered 75 bonus promotion prior to opening the account. I thought that I should open the account first than apply for the bonus .

  • Received the $75 just now. Thank you ing

    • Nice one. I did too. Backdated to the 9th but I know it wasn't there when I checked this morning.

      • were you guys existing or new customers? I'm an existing and haven't received yet

        • +1

          I am an existing customer.

        • @amelyn: Did you get the new account bonus before? or this is the only bonus you get since account openning?

        • I had an account from a long, long, long time ago… I would guess maybe 7 years or so? Not sure if I've received a bonus before… I could have, but can't be sure.

Having said that, my account has been dormant. I didn't think their interest rate was particularly good for a long time, still isn't. And I missed out on the 5% rebate because I had an old card that didn't have the chip for paywave… so it's that old. :/

My parents' accounts both received the promotional email, signed up, deposited and received $75 each today. My account from 2 years back did not receive an email but I signed up and deposited anyway. No cash for me :( I guess it really is targeted.

    • They've now changed the T&C's to being only available for recipients of the email. I received the email so I guess I'll have to wait up to 6 weeks from the end of August.

The $75 bonus payment offer is only available to recipients of the email and is limited to one account per customer (including joint accounts). The $75 bonus payment will be credited to your Orange Everyday within 6 weeks after conditions of the offer as stated above have been satisfied. A tax liability may exist with the payment of the bonus payment. This $75 bonus payment offer is not available in conjunction with any other promotional offer.

  • Received the $75 today! New customer, signed up 2 weeks ago. Pretty impressed with the offer and timeframe (unlike the empty promises of the yellow and black bank!)

    • Still nothing for me. New customer. Not happy :(

Not feeling the love for ING.

  • nice! man i love ING

  • So have any existing customers who didn't receive the email, but registered and deposited funds, received the $75?

    • None in all my three accounts.

    • I was existing customer, closed the account for about one month and joined back on this offer and received the $75 in my account on 12/09/14

  • My Acc was opened in May and I didn't receive any promotional email however I still received the $75 under:

    Miscellaneous Credit
    ATM PROP $75 INC

So there is hope that recently open acc without email promotion can still get it!

  • Received the $250 Icionic deal for both myself and my partner. On the evening of the end date (after 5pm on the 8th of Sept).

Both also got $10 newsletter sign up deal which we used with out $250 voucher, as well as the Spring Deal (50% off) which expired that night.

Both received our orders 2 days later. All the stuff seems pretty good, although we weren't very happy with the website. Most items (medium size) were out of stock.

Still haven't see the $75 cash deposit.. Not sure if we will get it after the iconic deal, even though we signed up to both at the same time.

  • Haven't gotten it… But been getting spam emails

  • stupid question, because everyones getting the $75 already so we dont need to put our money till oct 30 to receive the $75? so coz im a new customer, i can make one now, put 1k and when i received 75? take my money out?

  • Anyone received recently?

  • I haven't received $75 yet. I emailed ING and they said we'll get it either on 10/10 or 17/11. Fingers crossed. Not sure why some people have already received it though. It's certainly taken a LONG time.

  • still waiting on mine, only did it recently though, hopefully this month.

    • Nothing for me yet either.

  • +1

Surprised this "deal" hasn't been negged yet lol. Its starting to smell fishy.

    • I'm giving it until the 10th as mentioned above… Really disappointed since it did require passport details etc for nothing
