Gee you could buy a car for this price.

    lol

  • Are they normally that expensive?

    • +2

In Australia, yes. The manufacturers and retailers charge a special Australia-tax on sewing machines, particularly the fancy ones, just for the 'convenience' of buying them here. The size/weight (ie: shipping costs) and the 240V mains power here create a little 'region coding' style set up that allow them to manipulate the Australian market independently of the American market.

It can be tricky to find an American seller who will ship to Australia, and you will likely need a step-up transformer, but it can be done. Buying high-end sewing machines in Australia is a mugs game, there is a MUCH better choice of MUCH better priced machines on eBay, Amazon et al.

A year or so ago I bought a Brother SE-400 machine (sewing, embroidery, programmable, USB connection for uploading designs) from the USA, via Amazon.com, for under AUD$400 delivered. The cheapest equivalent machine in the Australian domestic market at the same time was around AUD$3000.

This sewing machine is massively overpriced, not a bargain!

It's at least $2000 cheaper on eBay all with warranty.

  • Besides being cheaper elsewhere, this is also the exact same price as every where else that I've found on google.

    So this is just SPAM.

  • Just bought three - one for me and one each for the kids.

      Only one each? (╯°□°)╯ ︵ ┻━┻

Hot Tip. If you're going to post a bargain on here, make sure it's the best bargain you can offer, otherwise you just look dodgy for trying to screw everyone. Especially when it's a few thousand dollars involved.
      Keeping my neg.

  • cheaper elsewhere…

    • -1

      Where ?

      • +1

So you dropped a further $2150 from your original rip-off price until 3pm. Why didn't you just offer this to start with? Thought you'd take some poor unsuspecting soul for a ride?

I didn't neg you with my original comment, but now I will.

        • +1

Agreed. I didn't feel the need to neg until the miraculous, sudden price drop from the rep lol.

  • Poor form, rep. Digging up 1 and 2 year old forum posts just to spam with your site link.

Just searched Sewing Machines and added the link….our prices are reflective of the marketplace.

Some traders have no rent to pay, nor staff, nor insurance

We try to do the best we can with the limited resources available.

Most folk here seem to comment more than purchase from what I can see.

    • +3

because most folk can tell when they are being taken for a ride or not.

You mean people on a forum for tightwads aren't keen to be ripped off? What a shame.
