It's funded by a creepy marketing firm (Izea), that's why they need your name and email address to send you a free sticker. Expect spam.

Actually, since they're one of those companies who want bloggers to write ads that look like genuine, honest articles; expect spam that looks like something else.

Wow. The guy who started SmileRound also started the creepy marketing marketing company that sponsors it; not that you'd know that. Looks like his twitter feed is full of their stealth ads that he's retweeted.

So, in short, he's figured out a way for you to give him your details, and spread his brand around via the stickers, and (since you're supposed to include money or a gift with each sticker) give people a positive experience when they first encounter his brand.

What a deeply, deeply creepy person he must be.

Oh, and he wants you to "take pics or it didn't happen" and share them on social media, complete with a creepy hashtag.

If you'd like to donate to help him build his totally legitimate marketing empire (rather then, say, cancer research or the Red Cross or something), there's a link on the site:
        http://www.smileround.org/donate/

Make sure you hit the "Recurring Monthly" button, so that he can have a steady stream of money out of your wallet, to fund his attempts to turn people you trust into undeclared salespeople.

        • Hmm…reminds me of the Movember guys…

Some a hole put one of these on my car when I was on holiday for three weeks. When I returned and tried to remove the sticker the adhesive had eaten into the top coat and it left a huge mark that can't be removed.

    Graffiti.

      Not graffiti - vandalism!

    • Hope you don't return the favor and leave something for someone else :)
