    New Crowdsource Courier Service

So random, possibly unhygienic people, maybe even druggies, get to deliver your meals or confidential documents…

    No thanks…

(By the way, I hope you've taken out adequate insurance…)

    • +1

Thanks for your reply. We did think about about the security concerns, that's why we setup all sort of ID verification and rating system. "Insurance" has been converted to a more accurate term "Security" under lawyer's instruction.

We do expect lots of questions and suggestions, it's a really good thing for us to get is rolling. We do need people like you to move towards the right path.

      Thanks again.

    • +2

I think you are overstating the downer you appear to have. This is no worse than Uber, etc. - providing there is some reasonable vetting of 'runners' it would work as well. In the case of Uber you're trusting your life; this is just trusting a package.

You wouldn't be run a parcel delivery service by any chance, would you?

      • -2

You wouldn't be run a parcel delivery service by any chance, would you?

Are you a psychotic stalker by any chance ?

If so, this is the app for you !!!

PPost makes it a lot easier for both parties finding each other

      • +1

Thanks for you support, but I do understand the security concerns from jv, and this was the biggest challenge for us too. We now have 5 ways to minimized the risk, and the trigger is always on "Sender"'s hand.

        1. ID verification, once verified, you will see an icon on the Runner's profile. We are currently implementing another verification for self background check document, should be up soon.

        2. Security Bond, Sender can always demand a holding security bond from Runner, which could cover the value of the goods.

        3. GPS tracking, which shows the location of the Runner and Goods

        4. Review and Rating System, which give Senders an idea how good the Runner is from history.

        5. Require Signature, same as current traditional courier service, Sender can request a signature at delivery.

With any or combination of the methods above, we believe that it will minimize the risk for delivery.

We won't able to scan the goods and find out what's being transferred, also so such regulation or requirements by laws, both Sender and Runners will need to agree to the disclaimers once the job is committed.

Hope that helps to the people with similar questions.

        Thanks everyone.

        • -3

How do you know the Runner is not a psychotic murderer ???

        • +1

GPS tracking, which shows the location of the Runner and Goods

No, it sees the location of the phone with your app on it, provided there is signal and the phone is switched on.

        • +3

          @jv:

          Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately we don't, just like any strangers walking by street, but these are low statistic probabilities, and you won't stop walking on the street because of that.

We can only minimize the risks, but we won't be able to eliminate all the risks, nobody can.

Still much appreciate for your point thought, thanks.

        • -1

          @yhan2000:

but these are low statistic probabilities

So statistically, how many of your Runners will be psychotic murderers?

(Aust Post are down to 0.7%)

        • +2

          @jv:

(Aust Post are down to 0.7%)

Yep. And they all work in my local post office or deliver in my local area.

        • @Martijn:
Where's that? Your location is not in your profile.

        • @roughana:

          Near Parramatta, NSW.

How do you become a runner? This sounds like a good way to make extra money on the side.

    • +1

      Thanks for your reply

You can simply download the app and register for Free, then in the settings from my account, you can set up your regular activity areas by suburbs, once any jobs pop up matching your regular routine, the app will send you notifications. Alternatively, you can always browse for all available jobs in list or map view, and bid for any jobs those are convenient for you.

It's glad to know that you like the idea.

      • +2

You can simply download the app and register for Free

What happened to all the 'security' you mentioned ?

It doesn't sound like I can trust this service.

      • +5

good so i can perform some side quests then continue onto my main campaign.

        • That's the idea of it, so some extra money "by the way", or just help out people with those urgent demands. Thanks for your support.

    • How do you become a runner?

      One of my favourite movies…

  • +1

App doesn't even connect to server

    • -2

That may be a good thing…

If your documents go missing, the only way you can contact them is by email !!!

      No phone number, no address…

    • Thanks for downloading the app. Our development team will look into it and get it resolved asap.

IN NO EVENT SHALL PPost BE LIABLE (WHETHER UNDER THE LAW OF CONTRACTS, TORTS OR OTHERWISE) FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE OR ANY OTHER MONETARY OR OTHER DAMAGES, FEES, FINES, PENALTIES OR LIABILITIES (COLLECTIVELY “DAMAGES”) WHATSOEVER ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THIS APPLICATION.

I'm pretty sure you can't indemnify yourself against the law, just by saying you are not liable…

Also, your T&C's are not available in the app store, so people are not aware of them when they download and use the app, which makes them not valid…

    • The terms and conditions was just finalized by the law firm this morning, we will update it live shortly. Thanks.

      • +1

Might want to check some grammar in that as well.

    • My guess is that they are positioning themselves as a payment service, facilitator, app provider or whatever - anything but a courier service. That way they figure that they have no responsibility for the delivery. They will have legal advice to justify this view (if they know what they are doing).

  • +2

how do i know i can trust you with my ID details ?

    • +1

      Their privacy statement includes :

The Application obtains the information you provide when you download and register the Application.
We may disclose User provided and Automatically Collected Information.

It also says that they can sell this information without asking you first…

      • +1

how bout if im using a burner phone :D

        • +1

          can't you read ????

          OP stated :

"that's why we setup all sort of ID verification and rating system. "

  • +2

Good on you for starting a new venture and putting yourself out there like this yhan2000. You'll get some good feedback here, just ignore the attitudes :)

    • edit: misread intent.

I got a boogie board bag with uhh… a boogie board in it to go to Bali. Any takers?

    • At the moment, it only works in Australia, but in the near future by this year, it will cover more places and possible for international delivery.

      • +2

        Got to love this.
Less overhead cost for drug smuggling is always a good thing. Damn mules are expensive.

        • +3

Less overhead cost for drug smuggling

Or better yet, drug dealers could use this app to move more of their product and expand their territories without causing a gang war

        • +2

That's exactly the problem we are trying to solve at the moment, we are working with other parties for a solution.

        • +3

          @easternculture:

and expand their territories without causing a gang war

Our track the other gang's runners by arranging 'fake' deliveries and having a GPS lock on them for an easy hit

        • +2

          @yhan2000:

we are working with other parties for a solution.

Maybe setup a meeting with all the Sydney gangs and see what they suggest

        • @easternculture:

Maybe setup a meeting with all the Sydney gangs and see what they suggest

Might be difficult to get them around the table at the same time as the NSW police, AFP, etc…

  • +1

easily turn us into drug mules lolll

  • I can just see Russia, Iran and North Korea outsourcing their Weapon smuggling operations to this Mob

    Definetly Less overhead cost

    • outsourcing their Weapon smuggling operations

At least the people smugglers could get some competition. Can't hurt to have another player in that market.

  • +1

As a "Runner" what happens if the recipient isn't home to accept delivery?

    • That would be the least of my worries.

      • Me too, but I am curious about what is supposed to happen. Does the "Runner" leave a card then the recipient has to go collect the package from the middle of nowhere?

        • +1

Would be great if you could write your own card…

"I am holding your package to ransom. Pay me $1,000 or it will be destroyed!"

        • +2

@Martijn: Ransom? We prefer to call it a re-delivery fee.

        • If re delivery fee cannot be agreed on, then Runner gets to keep the merchandise?

Middle man gets to shrug and say, well we are not liable, read the fine print? Who has final accountability? Airtasker is at least covered by insurance.

Maybe I've become too cynical and now all I see is potential scammers making off with my stuff. Would love for this to somehow work, as I agree, courier services currently not ideal.

    • Thanks for the this good point.

If that happens, "Runner" should communicate with the "Sender" directly and for further instruction, they can also negotiate with re-delivery fee if that's option. Very similar process to the current courier services like CourierPlease.

    • +1

      Thanks for your reply.

There are similar Apps like Uber or AirTasker, but we are trying to make this app particularly for courier services in a much deeper scope, instead of having one application for multiple industries and businesses.

  • Hot chick orders makeup.

    • And walks into a bar…

  • What if someone opens your document, scans it, then delivers it to receiver. Years later, it's posted online or passed to wikileaks.

    • Can't wait for the passport office to start using this.

    • Thanks for your message, it's actually a good point.

We would have extra verification process and training system to earn more badges in the profile to minimize the risk of things like this happen. Honestly, even US government can't stop such things, we don't expect that we can anyway.

The app is targeting for more regular activities, like food delivery, online shopping, events delivery, or personal goods.

      • Actually it might be good for picking up items from the post office, as my local postie never actually delivers anything. They only leave a card to say they missed me, even if I was home waiting all day.

        • If you live in a unit block, they're actually allowed to do this. Postie isn't allowed to leave the mail unattended.

If the card is red,it's a postie. Blue is parcel service

        • Yes I live in an apartment. Usually a parcel service buzzes the front door and I go downstairs to collect it. The postie never does.

  • +1

Actually, I am going to neg this.

You expect people to sign up, with the possibility of earning up to $15 before 31 October, but you reserve the right to not pay that until 31 January? So, you get someone's personal details for the possibility of $15?

No deal. Good luck with your service, but this is not a deal IMHO. It's a possible promise of a new business which hasn't done enough research.

    • Thanks for your vote. Just one correction, it's $15 per job and up to 5 jobs, so total of $75.

It's still quite new at this stage, but all these only come from one simple fact, the current courier service is not good enough.

  • wonder whatever happened to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/42505? :)

  • +2

I told my local drug dealer about this service and he was super excited. He signed up right away !!
