    or just use audacity

Audacity is great, been using it for years. And it has this nostalgic Creative Soundblaster WaveStudio feel to it.

This "deal" appears to be BS… it gets you to jump through lots of hoops, then simply installs a demo version, with a big red "buy now" TAB at the top. Abort, abort, abort.

Also, jv is correct. "Audacity" is awesome/completely free, and has been the "top of its class" for free software, for years (almost a decade now?).

And will probably remain so since the requirement to "convert audio formats" is pretty much useless now days. Almost every player can play the common Audio file formats (FLAC and MP3).

If you are creating your own, then you would just create in the format that you need. If you are downloading, then you download the format that you need.

    • Agreed - this is not a good deal. Audacity also makes it easy to edit your audio as well as just converting.

  • Erm, that's a bit of a simplistic analysis methinks Mr Al, because it's not always the case that you can pick-n-choose the formats of the files you have to work with.

  • Foobar is another good free converter.

  • There are plenty of good free easy to use video and audio converters.

Freemake Video Converter, Format Factory and XMedia Recode just to name a few of the ones i'd recommend.
