why not instead of offering a gimmick voucher, just discount the bloody policy and i can spend the saving wherever I feel fit.
This way some people think you get something for free.
And their insurance product is still valued $100 higher this way.
So that when the year is over they can charge you +$100 and also add any premium increase on the top. Most of people will pay this without even noticing.
This actually worked out very well for me. I purchased a 3rd party property damage policy for $158 annually and the $100 voucher makes that effectively less than $5 a month. I shop at Myer and JB anyway so the voucher is as good as cash. At least now I don't have to worry about bankrupting myself if I'm at fault in an accident. Thanks for posting.

What the heck was the vehicle?
I just tried with a 2001 Mazda and it was over $360 with a $650 excess.
1998 Hyundai Ecxel, $550 Excess. Note this is for 3rd party only, not 3rd party fire & theft. 60% No Claim Bonus.

Yes, I also only selected the 3rd Party without the fire & theft.
Strange. Maybe because the car was garaged in Vaucluse?
Could it be the no claim bonus? I had to confirm I haven't made a claim in the last 5 years.

Nup. Me too.
Price often depends on State.
Suburb too. You're more likely to cause higher third party damage in Ascot than Beenleigh for example.
@donga100:
Just they were in different States - Perth (cheaper) & Sydney (dearer)
I no longer drive in Ascot!
NRMA seems to be doing this too.
SGIC are NRMA.
I think the equivalent in WA is SGIO. Paid about $180p.a/$500 excess for third party property (note that this is a discounted premium because I have my home insured with them too)
Sorry having to neg the "deal". It seems they bumped the annual premium to offset the $100 voucher effectively making it a lot more expensive.
I purchased a comprehensive car insurance with NRMA yesterday for $496. Just went online to get the exact same quote to cancel and claim the $100 voucher but behold, the annual premium has increased over night to $655. That is $159 increase. Coincidence? I don't think so…
got a new quote TPP from SGIO(WA), $100 more expensive than what I paid from last renewal.
I bought and can't complain. Dual cab 09 Hilux Turbo Diesel. 3rd party fire and theft $198 before voucher. Haven't held vehicle insurance in many years but by not making a claim as to their criteria…. well…. I've now gotta 60% no claim bonus from these mugs. Will review policy in 364 days time. I'm in Perth Thanks OP
Premiums have been jacked.
