Given this is a US based site, the discounts are better in the US however the AU hotel prices beat everyone else. It's always best to check between the comparison sites, the hotel websites directly, using coupon codes for hotels.com etc, or by calling up the hotel to see if they can beat the best prices. The travel wiki has some good tips. Also, note that your referral credit can not be combined with this coupon code.

I've used Travelpony once for an emergency hotel booking in Hawaii back in March with no issues and great price.

    Again, Travelpony won't always be the best price so shop around.

    Always pays to shop around; I'm a frequent traveller, and I typically use about a dozen different sites — none of which are consistently the cheapest.

    I recommend checking lmtclub.com for US hotel bookings; they have a $50 annual membership fee, but there are a few free membership codes floating around (e.g. http://www.lmtclub.com/jerusalempost_en.aspx).

    Rates on lmtclub for the two US examples neil gave (both significantly cheaper than Travelpony with no need for a coupon):

    DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown, Aug 23-24
    US$148.67 (incl. taxes)

    Boston Marriott Copley Place Aug 29-30
    US$179.52 (incl. taxes)

      Those are great savings, but the JP code is no longer valid. Sad really, I'd like to book some stuff soon and I had to give them my email address before I found out the code was expired.

    I've used this site before for US travel - had best hotel price by far for one city I stayed in. For another city, another site had best prices. So shop around!

    Yes, I've been able to get some good prices from Travel Pony for select hotels, not for the hotel I want this time unfortunately which always seems to come up eventually cheaper with cheaptickets. Well worth keeping an eye on, and good value with the referral bonus.
