There's a heap of places on eBay selling 1m HDMI cables for $1 delivered…I've bought about 10 of them over time. Sorry OP, no deal…

I don't think that is correct. I had a look on eBay. It says $1 but when you select option minimum is $3.95 for 1 meter. It's bit dodgy how they listed on eBay. Can you post the link from eBay where it is indeed $1 after selecting option?

Not Ebay, but BuyInCoins has a 3ft (0.91 meter) cable for US$1.88, currently about AU$2.02 (via 28 degrees card or similar), everyday price. if you buy two, 10c discount on the second one brings the total cost to US$3.66 = AU$3.93. Free shipping from China.

Cable has a braided cover, often a mark of a higher-quality cable. Gold plated connectors, HDMI1.4 standard. I haven't bought this one myself, I am only quoting the web page. Ignore the "1m" length claim, I have found that if a Chinese website says "3ft 1m", it is the shorter length. 3 feet = 91cm.

I have had a few HDMI cables fail over the past few years. Every time they did, I cut them open, and found that they were all using solid-core wires, so it's not surprising they failed. All were thin cables, less about 5mm outside diameter. All my HDMI cables which are thicker, like the thickness of a mains extension cable, are still working. I suspect the thicker cables use stranded wire, but I'm not willing to sacrifice one to find out!

        • Damn, I couldn't resist, just bought one from BIC.

        • Thanks. Just bought one :)

        • Bought one from BIC too.
          Thanks Russ
