Should change it to: "up to $300" in title… Very misleading as it doesn't apply to a5000 and a6000..

    • Thanks a lot, title edited.

      • Funny that this is my first OzB post, and I'm leaving overseas at the end of this month. lol…

Bought an A7 off ebay on Wed :-( Damn.

        • @Berek:

          How much?

        • $1100 s/h

  • Is it jbhifi or harvey norman is sony authorise dealer ?

    • +1

I would suppose so, but I have no authority in this regard. I think you can ask their staff if they are or arn't.

The Metabones redemption finishes 30th September so can we combine the cashback and metabones deal?
    http://www.sony.com.au/microsite/a7redemption/

  • which are better, these or the Panasonic? I'm tempted to go for the Lumix GX7. Also Panasonic are giving an additional battery and 32gb SD card until 30 September too. Is that a good promotion?

    • Panasonic

    • +1

If you're thinking of getting a GX7 as opposed to an a7, get the Panasonic. You've either got to use old manual lenses or pay loads for Zeiss glass for the Sony's. They're groundbreaking cameras but not for everyone.

This reduces the body only Full Frame A7 to a very awesome $1276 and you get the lens adapter too:

    http://www.videopro.com.au/p-7110-sony-ilce7b-a7-camera-body…

    If I wasn't already invested in the APS-C E-mount cameras/lenses, I'd consider that!

Videopro also have the A6000 for $832 … which I assume is before the cashback making the final price $732. Very impressive
      http://www.videopro.com.au/p-7392-sony-alpha-a6000-mirrorles…

      • Are they authorised Sony dealer? Cashback page does not specify if it needs to be online or only in store?

        • +1

Yep, videopro is an authorised dealer. Got my A7 from the Helensvale store a few months back.

    • The price is $1,596.00 currently, where could you get $1276? Thanks

  • +1

I've been both happy and sad with my A7. Certainly capable of taking a great photo, but the lack of lenses (from sony and 3rd parties) still means it's not the camera that I reach for first. I'm always thinking of reasons to take my other cameras.

Expect to pay big bucks in the short term if you want lenses for the A7, A7R, A7S. Having said that the limited ones available are good lenses.

    • Would a lens mount adaptor change that at all?

      • Adaptors do work but only compatible with some of the newer lens (Canon to Sony).
(My camera black out when I use my cheap 50 1.8 with metabone adaptor )

But if you don't mind, manual lens work fine though :P

      • I have one. Issue is with the full frame lenses v non. If I'm going to start buying full frame. I want them native I the alpha

      • There's a promo atm to allow you to redeem an adapter which is pretty useful

    • If you don't mind manual focusing you can adapt virtually any lens ever onto these cameras. Frankly that's really the only reason to buy one of these at the moment. Buying an a7/a7r just to use the Zeiss glass is for people with unlimited money. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to invest that much in glass that you can only use on one camera otherwise IMHO.

Also, I bought an a7 last week. Was on special, but still. F**k.

  • What's the pick of the prime lenses for the a6000?

    • +2

      The SEL35F18 is my pick.

    • SEL18200
It is awesome! I got it from camera paradise.

  • Damn, just whyyyy :'(

  • Regarding the lens discussions…that's where a cheapo adapter comes in and you can use any old Nikkor lenses with the Sony. Only manual downside would be manual focus but this OK when doing video anyway.

  • There is nothing to stop JB having another 15% off sale bringing the A6000 down to $764 then combining with this deal…and if you are going OS within 60 days even bigger bonus. C'mon JB you have 2 months to do your next 15% off camera sale :)

    • Agreed, patiently waiting now…

  • Does JB also sell FE lenses? Are they able to order them in during the 15% off sales?

  • With respect to old lenses on the A7 etc, I have been having a hoot with them. Been picking up some old glass on eBay and some hits, some misses. The best so far is an old Contax Zeiss 85mm f2.8 - absolutely wonderful quality - build as well as image. The Tamron SP17mm is a great as well, although IQ is a little soft. Thing is, who cares about the gear - I'm having fun! As for manual focus, well I actually prefer it. The focus peaking is a wonder to behold. I gave up waiting for native mount full frame glass, although it seems like more is coming soon (http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/the-photokina-rumors-so-far-l…), and have not regretted it. I should also be able to sell the old lenses when/if something suitable comes along…. although I doubt I'll let go of that 85mm.

As an aside, as the Sony doesn't have the non-cpu lens option Nikon have (grrr) I just put the old lens on my camera and take a photo of my mobile with the lens/aperture setting (I use a google 'keep' note). Then after importing the photos into lightroom I know what lens etc the photos after that image were using, add in the info (eg exiftool.exe -Lens="Contax Zeiss Sonnar T* 85mm F2.8" -LensModel="Contax Zeiss Sonnar T* 85mm" -LensType="Contax Zeiss Sonnar T* 85mm F2.8" -FocalLength="85" -MaxApertureValue="2.8" -FNumber="8" -m -overwrite_original_in_place *), and then reload the metadata in lightroom. A little fussy, but once you've done it a few times it's not such a huge hassle.

Hi guys my names is Scott I work for Leederville Camerahouse. We are an authorized Sony dealer, so genuine warranty and Cashbacks are now on.
We have the a7 and a7r in stock and the a7s is not far away either.
    http://www.leedervillecameras.com.au/products/dslr-csc/sony-…

    Any questions let me know?

    • What are the differences between A7, A7r and A7s?

      • +1

The a7s is targeted more towards videographers and night time photographers. It has the highest ISO rating of the three with ISO 102400 and roughly ISO 400000 when on boost. It can also output 4K video using the micro-hdmi i/o. The a7r has the highest resolution of the three at 37 megapixels. While the a7 has the greatest amount of focus points at 107. There are some other minor differences, but these are the major selling points of each.

    • Had a look at your site, the a5000 price seems pretty great too, @ a pre-cashback price of $545! Posted up as a separate deal just in case others were interested and weren't monitoring all these comments :)

    • Your prices are higher than VideoPro. Shipping is $16 where as VieoPro is free over $99.
Any reason anyone buy from your store?

    • Hi Scott, do you know usually how long will Sony post the bonus adapter they are giving through redemption to buyers of A7/A7R after registration?

      • +1

my adapter arrived after 1 week

  • Anyone has problem doing the redemption process online?
It doesn't accept my upload image, always showing an error "Receipt image filename contains illegal characters." no matter how I name the image.

  • This deal is making me broke

    • What is the best A7R price out there?
