    right… G Pro…
Anyway U+ models use different frequency you won't be able to use it in Aus

  • Any idea what the difference between the F240 and E980 options are? The page doesn't seem to say.

    • I believe the differences in models are the frequencies they operate on, can someone confirm?

      LG Optimus G Pro E985
      Available as:
      LG Optimus G Pro F240
      LG Optimus G Pro L-04E
      LG Optimus G Pro E980
LG Optimus G Pro E986 for Europe

      http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_g_pro_e985-5254.php

      • Googling around I agree it's a band thing. Although that page doesn't tell us what the F240 and E980 does, only the other E98x models…

EDIT It seems the E980 option is unavailable so only the F240 really matters.

    • Looks like: F240 is the international (Korean) version, E985 is for India, and E980 is AT+T (US).

It's worrying that the listed specs don't mention LTE frequencies which the G Pro does support… Makes it seem less likely that it's the genuine item.

NOTE, this is the F240K version of the LG G Pro, which is the one sold in Korea. The English variety is the E980/985/988, and is more expensive.

It uses Korean firmware, and from the research I'd done it wasn't the easiest to swap to English. Quite a few people had problems with messaging since the Korean limit is 80 characters whilst English is 160. And a few other issues as well.

I really wasn't bothered to deal with all of this, so I just paid extra to get the E988 version. At the time I paid ~$300 for it new, but they're sold out now.

    • Is there any other issue though? Like 3G network stability, call quality, app support and such? I assume the menus can be changed to english in the phone itself.

If none, then this is stands to be a fairly decent deal and I might get one.

Quite a few people reported problems with 3G working in Aus. Have also read of some problems with signals dropping

        • Cheers. better avoid this phone then, I don't really have the skills to tinker with the RIL.

          They've got the refurbished E980 for US$255.99 and new E988 for US$312

I've had the E988 for about 3 months now- it really is a great phone. Screen is great and colours true to life, Quad core 1.7Ghz Krait is more than fast enough, camera is decent- not the best 13mpx shooter but adequate

      • I had the F240S for a year and it was an EXCELLENT phone.

I used mine on Vodafone and NEVER had any issues with 3G, 4G, or anything else.

There are lots of great ROMs on XDA for this phone, and it will completely debrand and remove any traces of the Korean software.
        (I ran this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462453)

DO NO avoid this phone, it's a super fast, the battery is good, the screen is one of the best out there, you can put a 64Gb micro SD card in it, and it's an ABSOLUTE STEAL at this price.

  • Wish this had Telstra 3g.

  • Keep in mind, if something goes wrong (I've bought 2 phones and a tablet and all but 1 has died within or on warranty period, tablet twice) you can't post it back as it has a lithium battery and AusPost wont touch it (if they did I think its around $45 to send). You have to courier it, and that's $55. It then takes around 2 months to get the replacement which may or may not have an issue in the future. Being a refurd, chances are high something may go wrong.

    • Yup, I had to return a China phone for repair. Was $18 but I removed the battery and sent it back without. This LG phone is a fixed battery?

  • Is it just me or did the price go up?
