  • Can combine with the $5 credit?

  • Postage kinda kills it, But i do need new spark plugs

Recently bought some NGK iridiums from USA on Ebay. I was loath to do it (support local business etc) but the price differential was FAR too great to ignore and that was including the last 20% SCA discount. $9 each delivered against $18+ with the SCA discount.

      • Funny thing is that's what I need to buy.

Got a link? And are they suitable for my Ford BA XR6 (Petrol)?

Don't know which model suits your vehicle sorry - there will be plenty of info around to confirm if you google. This was the ebay seller I purchased from: Parts Powerhouse Took about 1 week from ordering to arrive.

          Search parts code at NGK.com.au

I have used rockauto.com for years, 4-5 day delivery to Aus.

Example, NGK iridiums for my old car $29 x 8 =$232 from Repco/SCA/Bursons.
        Rockauto = 62 Aud delivered

Id love it if my money stayed in the country but a $180 difference is hard to ignore and all i had to do was shift my service one weekend.

        • been a long time since ive taken any notice inside the engine bay of a ford but why not just get something like NGK v grooves (my preferred plug on my track/road cars)

iridiums were only invented to cut the cost of labour on some motors, specially motors where you have to pull apart a lot of the engine bay to get to the plugs. they generally make less power, worse for economy as well as causing misses etc.

        • Grain of salt stuff. Plenty of info regarding their performance advantage over standard plugs in some cars.

        • @nosdan:

Have to disagree with you. I own the iridium spark plugs.
          I put them in myself.

It adds performance (it gives quicker response time when the car accelerates) and better on fuel economy. They will last up to 100,000km.

Its recommended by my mechanic but the downside is they are way too expensive here than buying them from overseas.

@Possumbly: Hard access to a lot of engines require long life spark plugs

          @fchis:

It adds performance (it gives quicker response time when the car accelerates) and better on fuel economy.

The difference you felt is because you installed new plugs. You would have felt an improvement even if you installed standard ones.

        • @pmupsinep:

Not really.. People believe what they choose to believe. If you haven't owned them, you won't be able to compare.

        • The NGK website explains all the info you need in detail.

        • @fchis:

People believe what they choose to believe.

I agree - and you've chosen to believe that Iridiums give your engine a "quicker response time".

If you haven't owned them, you won't be able to compare.

I have owned them. And my statement still stands. There's always an improvement after installing fresh spark plugs, whether they're iridium or not.

        • There's always an improvement after installing fresh spark plugs, whether they're iridium or not.

So why would that be I wonder? Perhaps the same reason why iridiums are a major step up from standard plugs?

      • Thanks for this post.
Made me buy ngk iridiums spark plugs for my car. ~$65 for my ZRE152R.

Now.. Has to ask friends for the socket tools.

Every time super cheap auto have a sale their prices raise 20-40% before it starts. Just looking then at 10 randomly selected products, most prices were substantially cheaper for many months until very recently.

  • +1

    Is this a real discount?
The SCA hand trolley lowest I have seen was for $20, but looks like they have marked the price up and with shipping during this special period it will be around $30?

    • +1

gotta agree. I bought the red hand trolley ages ago for $19.99 (catalogue special I think). It seems like most items are jacked up in price before the sale.

  • +4

Catalogue specials always seem better than their 20% off days. Handy I guess if you can't wait for a catalogue sale.

  • +3

given how frequently they have 20% off sales this isn't much of a deal unless you live very far from an SCA store

  • No car audio in the ebay store at the moment. Superdissapointment.

    • Not entirely true …. they have a few different car amps for sale.

  • I don't think this is going to get as many upvotes as last week's 20% off toys deal..

Minimum $7 shipping, and no discount on the shipping charges. Lame.

  • my item is out of stock :(
