    awaiting JV's comment…

  • The 201 piece Stanley tool set looks good.

    anyone used them before?

    • +1

No but if you use more than 20 of them I'll be more than a little surprised.

      • Usually made up of at least 60-70 spanners and sockets, Of which most are there to be picked up and checked, only to find out that they're the wrong size, slowly narrowing it down to the correct size, or nearest that will grip of imperial.

      • +1

This is true, but you can't buy kits with only the most commonly used sizes. Buying them individually would be more expensive than this even just for the 20 that you need.

Also, it's good to have them just in case. You do occasionally run into something that's a weird size and it's nice to have the piece of mind that regardless of the size, you should have the socket for it.

        • Plenty of smaller socket sets around which will cover >99% of most people's needs. This set is for light duty work and has a variety of barrels lengths - which are completely unnecessary if you get a decent socket set with an extender or two.

        • @Possumbly:

How much would a decent socket set with a couple extenders be though?

I think the different length sockets just correspond to the different sized ratchets in that kit. So there's probably 3 of each diameter socket in the middle range. The smallest ones would only be available in the 1/4" size and the biggest ones would be only for the 1/2" ratchets. So you definitely have a point that you generally don't need 3 size 12s, although those duplicates would be the most commonly used size at least (like 12).

I haven't bought those Stanley ones but they do look fairly good quality. Definitely better than the cheaper sets. They seem like a good buy for the money, but of course it depends on what you need as well.

    • I have got this set from SCA when they were $99 last time. I think it is quite a reasonable set if you plan on just using it around the home.

      Happy with the purchase.

    • what i am wanting to know is, is this set worth the money as i need a tool set for the car.
      any recommendations?

Please suggest something as a bargain. 50% off an inflated price may not be a bargain.

  • What real bargains, please inform me and our fellow Ozbargainers on which ones you mean :)

  • Fairly lazy post… Give us some deals?

2x130L plastic tubs with wheels for $35

      • Tubs - lots of tubs. Almost as bad a fixation as eneloops

      • Those would be massive hey? I'm not sure if that or the 3x45L tubs would be better. How much are these tubs at bunnings?

        • the 130l tubs are great for stashing away the gear that you buy at the Aldi Ski Sale

Very hard to find big name brand 10w oil varieties for under $20. No wonder its limited to 2… good deal.
    Good luck finding stock though.

  • Nulon semi-syn 5W30 $27.49/5l.

    • any good ?

Anyone know what price is available on export degreaser (usually on sale for $2 a can)? Many places are now selling "five star" degreaser - which is useless.

    • Try crc .556 or lanotec

  • They are good to shop with but they never seem to have free freight anymore for the bush orders.

The ProRack roof box is rubbish if anybody is considering it. Bought one and it didn't seal properly. Took it back and tried every one in the store with the salesman and none of them sealed correctly.
