Damn, they're alright for 200 bucks. My old Dell Studio recently died and I'm kinda looking for a cheap, non-gaming lappy. This would do nicely.

      • Yeah thats what i thought $200 holy crap, but i wonder which one would be a better machine?

I can only find Dell laptops at my local stores. They don't know the model numbers. They are not clearly marked on the boxes. They don't know the specifications. It's a $200 lucky dip.

Which is the best out of these two?
    Dell 15 CI3 notebook was $648, now $200. Model: 561202AU. SKU: 8262761

    • which store are you referring? i mean your local stores?

      • Big W

      • Booval, Springfield, Browns Plains, Calamvale, Mt Ommaney. I can't remember who has what. I bought 2 laptops from Booval.

    • The 561202AU I bought has a scratch on the screen. I think my 561202AU and V561100AU are ex-display models.

    • Good job, well done listing these for us. Whoever get's the i3's and i5's is doing well ( appart from you ). Even ex demo/display comes usually with 12 months manufacturers warranty. Good luck getting one early.

  • Well the website is offline for maintenance now, so in a few hours we might know what is actually available later today…

  • i dont think its worth the time rushing into the stores when they open.

    • Unless your not far away and have the time. Maybe try calling them and if they have something good, ask them to hold for some hours.

  • Big w waverley gardens sold out laptops.

  • Mt Gravatt at Garden city have 3 of the Dell V561100AU. They also have some unknown MSI all-in-one for $150.
    Mt Ommaney - no stock
    Booval - no stock
Springfield - Had a Dell laptop yesterday
    Browns Plains - no stock
    Calamvale - Dell inspiron N5050

    • Got the Calamvale one, with a free Belkin bag :)
Now to work out the spec!

Just in case anyone goes to Southland BigW for the new sale on today looking for cheap games and bedding……the catalogue says 100's of titles for games, they had about 20 different titles for xbox and vita with about 3 ds games. Bedding was even more of a disappointment. DONT BOTHER, THIS IS NOT A REAL 50% SALE i suspect they will all have this deceitful lie

    • thanks from a local who was contemplating heading up :)

Just pick up a Dell i3 561202 laptop $200 from Rockdale. They have like 3-4 Dell.

  • can anyone from VIC share which store has a laptop on sale,,thanks

    • Limited stocks available. None at QV Center

  • PS3 titles are what on sale?

    • Not even one at Southland.

      • Yeah, just been to Southland - was wondering where everything was!

At least I managed to get something for the boys.
We were walking past the toy section and there was a racing car set they took a liking to.
I said "I don't know, it's not on OzBargain (they know all about it)… I'll think about it."
So we came back after looking for these non-existent bargains and there were sale stickers on the toys that weren't there minutes before!

  • Just been to Forest Hill…sold out.
Box Hill, Waverley Gardens and Southland also sold out.
Lucky for us my Mum got the last one in Bendigo!!! It's a Dell but not sure which one yet.

    • wow,,you have been driving around VICTORIA just to get your hands on a laptop..lol

      • Haha!!
Just drove to Forest Hill and phoned the others!
Mum and Dad live in Bendigo so they kindly picked it up for me.
Very limited stock…Forest Hill never had any, nor did Box Hill or Southland. Waverley Gardens and Bendigo each had 3 which were sold by about 915am. Seems it was just any old stock they had out the back they could sell for $200. Good luck to those still trying :)

        • +4

Yup I bought 1 in Bendigo, could have brodened the lot as I was in at opening, but took only 1 as that's all I needed and I did not want to be greedy. Saw a lady behind me take another (prob shoppingisfun's mum) and I think another went to a staff member because she saw how happy I was. Mine is new and sealed. Manufactured in late 2012 with win 8.

        • +2

          @ShipShapeRC:

Is there internet yet in Bendigo ??? ;)

        • @jv: Yes but you have to keep the string tight between the 2 tin cans.

    • +1

      Well-chosen Ozbargain name!

  • Lol so lucky got 2 a 561202au and a 561100au

    • Where from, and any more stock?

  • For those in Northern New South Wales or Tweed Heads region, absolutely no stock for Lismore, Ballina and Tweed Heads.

  • Underwood qld only 10 inch msi left

  • Bought the inspiron n5050 at Tuggerah was told it hadn't been used opened it up found a number of layby receipts and a scratched up laptop :/

    • & a only a handful of games on sale at my local. Not the handful you want either.

  • Can someone advise which Dell model came with the extra screen protector?

  • I bought 2 for 400 so I could claim get back trs…. Even though these things are not light to take on plane.

  • +5

I just went to BigW in the Melbourne CDB and only 2 of the Canon inks were discounted. Scam of a clearance sale if you ask me.

  • +4

Game selection absolutely atrocious, seems the same for most stores based on comments here. Only 3DS games on sale were kiddy crap and silly novelty type games (one had a picture of a red High Heel shoe on the front…), and they were still 10 bucks each. You could probably pick most up from EB pre owned for 5-10 bucks already… Very disappointing.

    • I expected this much :-(

    • Glad I held off from going in, cheers for the heads up

  • +1

Grabbed the last dell 15ml, it's actually an Inspiron 3520, at Newcastle big w, one if the i3 s, 4gb of ram, half a gig hard drive. All this according to the service tag. Msi all in ines left for 150 each, atom processors inside…..

Games were all rubbish, let the entitlement driven scam complaints begin

    • Half TB?

      • That would be it

  • +1

Lol..got 2 from Broady Big W..one tagged as 578 and one for 648..

If anyone is around the area..I have called sunbury Big W and they still have one Dell laptop..just tell them you are Marty because I have reserved it for me but came here at Broadmeadows which is much closer..

  • +1

If you want to find out a dell spec, look for the Service Tag and enter it here. Usually 7 digits like C9J4PT1 (thats mine from the sale, it was on outside of box)

    http://www.dell.com/support/home/au/en/audhs1/Products/?IsTa…

    • So you got an i5 for 200 good work

      • +1

I'm reading pentium myself from that tag.

Mines the same model number but an i3

        • Me too. Pentium B970 which is a decent 15" laptop CPU for the price. I have been using an Asus f501a with same CPU, 4 Gig RAM and a Samsung 830 SSD 120 Gig for over a year, and for web browsing, emails and playing some vids it does the job really well. It's a 35 W 32 nm running @ 2.3 Ghz Dual Core with no Hyper Threading like an i series, but performs still better than a lot of these new low voltage ( read also slower performance ). Has a Sandy Bridge HD Graphics, no new gaming there etc, but for usual video is fine, and has a PassMark score a whisker under 2000. To put that into context, that is nearly double of the very popular and respected Asus T100 running an quad core Atom Z3740 with a passmark score of 1071. Ok. it's about 90 % higher score. The Ram is only 2 Gig as opposed to 4 Gig in this Dell. A lot of new laptops under $600 , although most are a bit thinner and lighter, still struggle to match this grunt.

  • Can anyone advise what computer accessories are on special? I'm looking for a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo.

  • Just been into Midland WA, they have laptops there (dell and some other dodgy brand) but no 50% off. The girl there was bloody hopeless.

  • +3

OK I got one (Inspiron 15 (N5050)) at Brisbane CBD McArthur. A few people came right after me so they're probably all gone by now. Delivered to big w January 2012. But I'm not complaining for $200. More powerful and much better value than a current i3 NUC that would be $400 without an os, screen, DVD RW drive… And I just realized this came with an office 2010 license…. and SD card reader.

    • +1

What came with Office 2010 license? Where? I can't see it with my Inspiron 15 N5050.

Edit: Thanks Phoebus, just found the Office 2010 activation key card included. I was googling on how to transfer my retail version of Office 2010 from an old Dell laptop (accidentally left by my dad in Brisbane) to this new laptop. Now I won't even need to bother since an OEM copy already installed. What a bonus :D

    • +1

Thanks for that. Did not notice the Office license in there :).

      • No office licence in mine strangely

  • +1

Was just at Melbourne Cbd,Ps3 titles included Elder Scrolls Oblivion, singstar titles, crysis 2 and a lot of DS nintendogs ( not 3ds ones)

  • +1

NO laptops at top Ryde Big W Sydney "never had any" What a waste of my time.

    • I thought you saved at least $2000 from buying a Hyundai i30 instead of a Mazda 3, shouldn't you be able to afford a $2000 laptop now instead?

      • Going against the whole point of Bargain shopping my friend lol you must save on "everything"

        • Haha, just pulling your leg vid_ghost, I know you from Whirlpool forum.

  • +1

Snapped up the second last laptop from BigW in Rouse Hill. $200 for the same computer I purchased 3 years ago. Saved over $400 so a good deal. The old one has a noisy fan so will be using the new one in future.

    MSI Notebook - A6300 - AMD Phenom II, P820 @ 1.8GHz - 3GB - 320GB - Win7 - 8242553

    • +2

Wow that was $238 deal that was ozbargained in minutes 2 years ago. Must be dead layby stock. My kids have them, they are okay but once you install all the windows security updates etc, they are bit slow. If you don't use them online, don't update and they are good speed. If you do use then, reboot them each now and then and they run fine for general use. Mine have been dropped from bench height a few times and still go strong. One runs pretty much 24-7, the other daily. Overall a great deal laptops for office, email and internet.

  • I only found a few mouse mats $10 now $5. No storage/printers/keyboard/mice on sale.

There was a pallet in the walkway, with a pile of ipod docks, I assume they were 30pin.

    Other then that, nothing.

  • +1

if you want to install an ssd into these dells there is a video how to on youtube. A bit fiddly but looks easy enough. Undo all back screws then remove keyboard then remove mouse pad plate then hard drive is able to be accessed.

    • Even more fiddly if your ssd is smaller than the OEM 500gb one. Have to install Windows from an windows disk as the dell recovery disc won't work.. Good way to make sure your system is free of dell bloat wear I suppose.

      • You can easily image a larger hard disk into a smaller one with software like Acronis True Image, as long as the used space fits of course.

    • Another option would be one of these. Not sure if it makes life easier, but Windows on an SSD and the 500Gb drive for data is an option I would like.

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251310405228?ssPageName=STRK:MEWA…

PS no guarantee this is the right one for the BigW Dells?!

  • I bought 2 one was windows 8 and had been used but no damage no key for office 2010 but the other laptop was sealed nib and windows 7 and had key for office 2010 not that i need it.

    • Still got that office key?

  • I should have returned my 2 and bought 2 unopened ones. I think they are both customer returns.

Laptop1: Scratched screen (usable), case looks like it's been opened for repair and doesn't click in properly. Missing Office 2010 which it should have. Had someone's files on it.

Laptop2: Won't load Windows. Fails system restore. Missing Windows licence sticker. DVD drive doesn't work.

    • make up a good one out of the 2 and return the other for refund.

  • +4

This was terrible… the only things on sale were crap clothes… I walked around whole store, and found nothing worth buying, went and bought sony phone from jb instead!

  • did anyone got the one i reserved at Sunbury Big W???

  • +1

Might take 1 of these dells back for a refund.

    • I think someone from Ozbargain here would snap it up if it's a clean 100 % working unit. Are you close to Brisbane CBD?

      • you mean you?

        • No, not for me but should be plenty of keen takers around here for under $300 I would say. I was able to grab a Dell Inspiron 3520 with a i3 2370m/500 Gig/ 4 Gig/ Blue Tooth/ W8 from Robina Big W for $200. They had one more similar with a still decent Intel B970/ W7 also for $200. Both brand new in unopened boxes. I did not take that one, but advised the helpful staff member to buy it as they are a real bargain. Not sure of the outcome, but he indicated that he would like to buy it. I think most of these laptops on the list that might have been on offer, including this Dell are a little older chaise, maybe a millimeter or two thicker ( trade off for a 6 cell batt. ), most with W7 ( for me and others that is a plus ), most probably only usb 2, still very good value for $200, and for those of us getting an i3 or i5 a great buy. Thanks OP.

    • Psst paulaus, I think you can easily sell your second Dell to one of those fellow OzBargainers for $250 or more. Make some profit yourself ;-)

  • Bought one for mum yesterday at Brisbane CBD. Thanks.

  • +3

Positive revoked - absolutely pile of crap. Big W Armadale (WA) - no laptops, no discounts on ink, no extra clearance games etc. Total waste of time.

  • Just letting people know that the last Drll Inspiron 3520 for $200 that was left @ Robina today has been taken by a staff member. I called to grab it, was there still @ 3.30 pm when I called, but tried to get them to hold for me @ 4.45 pm and now gone. I should have grabbed both Thursday arvo, but had slight feelings of being a " BROADEN ."
