I got cheap flights from Singapore to HCM in Aug, but was pretty appalled to find out (from the Consulate in Sydney) there's a $95 Visa fee pp to get into the country! Not such cheap flights now…
Why appalled? Do you know what the current tourist visa fee is for a Vietnamese to come to Oz?
visa fees for Singapore & KL were either zilch or included in the amazingly cheap airfares… to fly to HCM was about A$80 return from Singapore. Putting it into context, I only wanted to go for a day, for a look around, so an additional $95pp was a shock. Ya live, ya learn!
Yep, it is a pity that the Vietnamese Government is so short sighted. They have just put up their visa fees too. It is a bummer if you wanted to fly with Vietnam airlines to a further destination and are obliged to stop over in Vietnam for a night. You have to pay for their expensive visa.
