The Lepai version (exact same amp) came to $35.85 for me from Amazon.http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0049P6OTI?pc_redir=1402380036&robot_redir=1

    • While I agree it isn't really a bargain, it would work out cheaper because you get the right plug. However in saying that, the 24W adapter they supply probably won't be up to scratch and you would want a beefier one anyways (advertised as 2x20W RMS output, can't get that with only 24W).

All in all, the LP2020 is a great little amp, I have one running some 6ohm bookshelf speakers for my computer in my bedroom, and I would go deaf well before the amp maxes out. Definitely better than a crappy set of computer speakers.

Yeah great amp, this is a bargain at its usual price, just wanted to point out that this isn't cheaper than normal. Might revoke my neg.

    • somehow I would trust the lepai v2 more then what ever this one is.. at least they've already sold millions of lepai.. and the sound is awesome on the lepai

I use something similar to this in my car. I am a computer guy, so I have a billion cables and somehow had not one, but two cigarette lighter to DC 12v cables in my kit.

Pretty good. I use the usb input on mine, because the RCA inputs sounded awful for some reason and there is a remote for using the usb. I think the one I bought was about forty bucks.

But yeah, understated for an old car. My car has a sucky sound system (tape deck, anyone) and I'm not gonna put something else in it for money. So this type of thing is great. Also makes for a sweet amp for parties/outdoor things where you don't want to get the good cutlery out in case it rains (or you get too drunk, don't bother putting it back inside in time, someone spills something on it - etc.)

Anyway, paired with a 12v dc connector and some cheap $10 speakers from vinnies and you're laughing. Blow the speakers? Back to vinnies. Easy!

Sorry doperst, that ain't a Tripath! Your $13 unit uses a bog standard Sanyo IC: http://pdf.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheet/sanyo/ds_pdf_e/LA4… It's capable of similar power output but nowhere near as clean as a proper 'Tripath' IC as per the Amp in this deal. Not bad at all, just 'Apples & Oranges' really.

Love the way they rate it at 200W though :P One quick look at the IC spec and you'll see that the Sanyo chip can produce 25W per channel but with an enormous 30% THD! Bring the distortion figures down to a realistic level and you should expect a fairly clean-ish 8W per channel. Bring them down to very clean and you'd be looking at under 5W per channel… but again, 5W of very clean power is actually quite a lot when paired with some nice speakers. Perfect for the computer desk or a small system in a bedroom etc.

  • wow zazz…didnt know they still exist…i mean with COTD being so popular lol
