Basa fillets are always $6/kg at Sydney Markets….to put things in perspsective.
Don't cram your freezer space with this. And basa may not be particularly healthy.

Woolworths Basa is imported from Vietnam, pollution is a serious problem there.

I thought that iis where all Basa came from.
Basa is just another name for that awful farmed catfish, yuck.

in case people didnt know, basa is farmed catfish which is farmed in some of the most disgusting polluted man made ponds in asia etc. there are very few checks on imported food, specially "seafood"

you have to realise that these stock exchanged companies dont exist for the customers benefit, they only exist for there stock exchange listings.

I used to love Basa fillets for the short term before we discovered they were farmed under homes on ponds and the families that lived there also crapped and pissed in the same water.

…Plus I I've heard they also use some banned antibiotics (or chemicals) to keep them "healthy" given the bad living environments. I think it's these:

A lot of fish and chip shops use Basa unless you ask for some other fish.

    • I suspect my local might have when I bought grilled fish and chips for $11 last week. Large fillet but flavourless and rubbery. I know when I order battered they use hoki, thought it would be the same but never tried grilled hoki before.

Absolutely disgusting. Recently a lot of fish shops are popping up selling fish, chips drink for around the $5 mark using this garbage. Stay away.

This. I'm baffled by how many people are aware of the issues with basa, yet happily buy cheap fish and chips without knowing or asking what fish it actually is they're buying.
