    Wednesday 12th June

Mistake or clever terms and conditions from Kogan?

    • That Wednesday has since been changed to Thursday. Must have been a typo

    Web site has crashed…

    All 4G galaxy note 3 sold out…what a shame.

Update: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 4G LTE (32GB, White) use to shows $579 15mins ago and it was SOLD OUT, now it magically appeared available for $629, Kogan you dodgy f…k

Negative vote for Kogan jacking up the price to more than the price including shipping before the free shipping offer.

    • Hmm strange, because the last few days I've been seeing the Note 3 32gb LTE has been 629 all along while the Note 3 3G has been $579 but has been sold out. Ive been waiting for a Note 3 LTE to be $579 for a long time…

DODGY… neg vote here: I've been watching the canon nifty fifty (http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/canon-ef-50mm-f18-ii-standard-le…). Web archive (and my own observations) suggest this lens went from $99 + delivery to "magically" $119 under current "sale". Guess what - no deal!

    • If you don't monitor the price, Kogan will rip you off, thanks for the feedback.

      • No it was 99 plus shipping for last few months. (not sure why you were neg'd though)

  • Ahhhh been paying attention to the Note3 4G black 32GB

    Not happy.

Anyone know if it's worth getting their power banks or micro USB cables and wall adaptors?

Typical Kogan jacking up the prices on items to offset the 'free' shipping, this isn't the first time they've done it, it won't be the last time they do it. This company will never get my business again.

    • +6

So when you see Kogan advertising free shipping know that it's not really free but disguised into the total price. I wonder what the ACCC would think of that.

    • +1

      Please report them to ACCC.

      • +2

Better yet, report them to The Checkout.

      • +1

wanna get a pair of glasses like i did recently :)?

      • Good for you. Many other users have noticed it however on items they have been monitoring.

  • Website down. Gave me a game of Pacman to play :)

    • Seems to be working here

    UpandGoShake work for Kogan

    • +3

There's certainly something suss about him.. He seems to know about all the prices for products people have claimed as having gone up in price "oh no that's been that price for a year", and look at his post history, a plethora of Kogan on offer.. An undeclared affiliate possibly?

edit: look at his profile now, all comments/posts deleted and he's in the penalty box, seems you were right to be suspicious kevin22!! Good work mods.

Dodgy practices Kogan. ACCC should be all over it.

    what asshats.

although this one seems genuine. same price, now free ship

To those tracking their prices with evidence, I'd suggest you contact Kogan and ask them to honour the original price. (fulfilling step 1 of complaint reporting obligations). If not, ACCC their asses. very easy to lodge a complaint. The more complaints the more the ACCC will pay attention (although the ACC wont help with your individual complaint.).

Might also be worth making a complaint to paypal, just to make life more difficult for them. Will make it harder for bogan to run the same deal again.
EDIT: just remembered, paypal has an australian financial services license, so they couldn't ignore your complaint, regardless as to what the Ts and Cs say about bogan being responsible. If you don't get satisfaction from them you can go to the Financial Services Ombudsman

    • I did contact Kogan about the Note 3 N9005 32GB white, they refused to admit that they're jacking up the price.

      • next step, lodge a complaint.

I did too - I received some very quick text responses (quick because they were copy and paste! - they wrote whole paragraphs in 1 second). Some excerpts:

Deirdre HI XX how can I help?

Me I am interested in purchasing the canon 50mm f1.8 lens; I was looking at it earlier in the week for $99; however, I saw that you have a great deal today for free postage. When I looked at it today, it is suddenly $119 dollars…

Deirdre We can advise that our prices are subject to change at any time, as per the terms and conditions on our website.

Me So why did the price suddenly increase, when the postage was "free"?

Deirdre Our prices do fluctuate from time to time.

Me I have been watching this lens for a few months, and it was the $99 all year? Why did it suddenly change?

Dierdre The current prices on our website are correct, and we are unable to make amendments to the listed prices. We apologies for any inconvenience and thank you for understanding. As we have indicated above, our prices are subject to change at any time

Really recommend you complain, if the ACCC gets enough of them they're likely to look into it.

If they've put prices up to claim "free shipping" they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

        • Just the rep trying to cover it up.

  • This is a good deal and the price has not been increased with the free shipping:
sony xperia z2 tablet 4g (sgp521) $659 with free shipping via paypal
    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/sony-xperia-z2-tablet-4g-lte-sgp…

    • Why not post every single items that hasn't got the price increase?

      • he might have!

        • Yep I was in the process of putting this one up when the general kogan free shipping deal was highlighted so I didn't bother….Maybe I should have as this moto deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148428

The Z2 tablet is a good deal but because of negging over the general stealth price increase to cover shipping behavior it will be overlooked by OzB'ers even though the behavior does not apply in this case.

Cant work out why I got the neg either?

        • Bring it on…

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148435

And yes I put my money where I posted my bargain.

    Typical Kogan

Kogan has never really offered free postage.. They always jack up the price by the cost of the shipping

    dodgy dodgy dodgy

  • quite common that kogan would increase postage
